Some people might not like what I’m about to say, but hear me out.
The only thing that makes me happy about the ending is the fact that midleven are separated forever — that they aren't meant to be together. I’m not happy with El’s death and the specific way they were separated but I mean, the d*ffers created so many plot holes and made so many nonsensical, terribly written choices, yet EVEN THEY decided that this couple has no future. Seriously, Will is my favorite character, and I would have been furious if that hetslop built on the self-sacrifice of a queer character had become endgame. As a couple, they did absolutely nothing to earn a happy ending.

I just fully realized that rockies relationship, according to season five, is representation of love Will could find. Literally they say "Yeah, he's just your Tammy, but then you'll meet the one who will be your love, your Vickie."
The couple represented his chance for a happy future and love simply broke up. Absolute cinema.
