It is refreshing to see a congresswoman, who is unencumbered by corporate cash, speak truth to power.
you can’t support autistic people and support the police. No amount of paint jobs or sensitivity training can stop police from killing with impunity

Is 24 really seen as a gay number in Brazil??
Oh, yeah. Gosh, the explanation is kind of long but basically there’s this illegal gambling game called jogo do bicho in which the numbers you select are represented by an animal (so like 01 is the ostrich, 02 is the eagle, etc.). And like, I say illegal but when I was growing up every single old person I knew played it so it was very well-known in the older generations.
Anyway, the animal associated with the number 24 is the deer, ou veado, which is actually a very old (still persistent, but mostly reclaimed) slur for a homosexual man. For ages, utilizing the number 24 was a not-so-subtle way to imply a person’s connection with the number’s mnemonic animal.
That’s basically why. The youngsters know that 24 is a ‘gay number’ but most don’t know where it even came from.
