Hi everyone! I donāt typically do posts like this for a fanblog, but I was feeling rather sentimental.
I saw Promare for the first time when it premiered. I went to the movie theater with a bunch of students from my major (weāre all art kids) my senior year of college. I wasnāt personally invited to go, but a group of students were all planning on seeing it together, and one friend of mine was excited to see it. I hadnāt watched any Studio Trigger movies or animes before, and I hardly knew anything about Promare before watching it, but Iām so glad I went out of my comfort zone and went. It was amazing to be with a large group of people and all be excited over the same thing.
The second time I watched Promare was with just one person, who is one of my closer friends. We had wanted to see it again so badly that I volunteered us to drive over an hour to the theater to see a morning showing of it. We had stayed overnight in my dorm room before hand so we could leave on time in the morning. That probably wonāt mean much to most people reading this, but to me, getting up in the morning has been hard for me in the last few years due to my struggles with depression.
That day, my friend and I listened to the soundtrack almost all the way there, and probably sang at some point too. After the showing, we met up with another mutual friend for lunch at a pizza shop (had to pay homage to the pizza shop scene!) and then talked about our futures together.
The semester after that, quarantine began, and everyone was sent home from the dorms. I had just started to learn how to have fun in college, and how to balance being a good student with being good to myself, and taking breaks when I needed them. Ever since graduating, I havenāt been able to shake the regret I have over not doing more things like this.
To this day, I still can get a little teary-eyed over the Promare OST, for the memories it brings back. I took a long time to learn my lesson about not letting ideas of what I need to do to be successful overtake my personal enjoyment of life.Ā
I know GaloāsĀ āburning soulā line gets joked over a lot (not that Iām complaining), but life is too short to not let your soul burn, and not let yourself get excited overĀ āsillyā things. Grades are important. Work is important. But so are you, and so is your health and happiness. Let yourself be passionate for the things you love. Go take an hour drive to someplace you want to see or something you want to do. Meet up with people you know that, though you arenāt friends yet, very well could be if you got to know them.
