I’m going to ahead and answer this mess publicly, because I feel that Rory and Angel could possibly benefit from the opportunity to see how it feels. That, and, this group deserves to know how their admins view them.
For some context, the 4 messages I sent were between 8am and 4pm. So that’s me asking for 8 whole hours, what is going on here and why am I supposed to believe that this person near me is a predator? The reason why I continued to send messages was because, as I said in one of the messages, their active light had been flashing all day. I was also talking to others who were saying they were being ignored as well. That’s why I felt the need to be persistent. My last message is cut off, but it just ended with “message?”.
I read the entire document about “Matt” from start to finish, and the only correlation between that person and the person I know as Cas, was that they both prefer to play heterosexual characters. I was baffled as to how this document that hadn’t been updated in months and was full of “I didn’t get screenshots but…” and “I’m not sure if this was the same person but…” could have made the admins here so certain that this was the same person among us. So I asked.
Let’s look at this stellar reply from Rory (and I’ll tell you in a minute why I’m not surprised at all that this all came from Rory).
“We have a life outside the computer, we need to take care of our mental health”.
Cheers to that, but not for a whole 13 hours after you’ve publicly attached someone’s name to that of a predator, and told us all to accept the accusation as fact. That was 13 hours of extreme stress and discomfort for your group. You can’t just throw someone under the bus like that, and then say “sorry, mental health time” when you don’t want to explain why. You could have waited until you decided you were online for the day to post that, knowing damn well there would be questions and concerns. But you just dropped it on us and ran away, and now more than ever I’m sure it’s because you knew you had no ground to stand on with it.
“Frankly, we don’t owe you an explanation, or reasoning”
If you were to have simply blocked Cas and told the rest of us to unfollow, then maybe I’d be down to agree that it’s your RP and your decision. But that is not what happened. You claimed in front of all these people that “Cas/Matt” were the same person, that tender-roughness was a predator, that we were potentially in danger, that we had to take this extreme action and block them and support you in being horrible toward them. And I wanted to know why you were asking me to do that. You do owe people an explanation when you make it that personal.
As for his behavior, I thought it’s been pretty rational and calm for a potentially innocent person who woke up to their own RP admin publicly attaching their name to a notorious scandal instead of trying to talk to them about it first. And the other thing I thought, after reading that literal 90+ page document about Matt was that it didn’t match Matt’s 6 year long record of consistently similar reactions at all. Not even remotely in the same arena. So thanks for getting us to look at that part.
And now for the final bit, the one where Rory says they’d like to protect their players. A nice segue into why I’m not surprised that Rory’s behind all this.
This whole “Matt” hill that she’s deciding to die on is just the cherry on top of why I’ll have no regrets about leaving here.
PART TWO
I am leaving this RP because the factors from all angles have shown me that this is a bubble RP disguised as an active group - and this is a conversation that’s been had among a few of us, not only me. Here’s the facts to back it up (which is more than they afforded to tender-roughness).
At the time of writing this, there are 44 characters and only 10 active accounts (that number is stretching the definition of active a little). On those 10 accounts are 17 active characters. I’ve given brand new characters who haven’t even posted yet the benefit of the doubt and put them in this active group. So this RP has, at the absolute furthest stretch of the most, 17 currently active characters. Out of 44.
So why has the activity check they promised two days ago to do tomorrow (now yesterday) not been done yet? Wouldn’t the admins want to prevent us from replying to starters posted by abandoned accounts, or free up some FCs and character slots for new muses to come keep us active?
You might think, but no.
Because of Admin Rory’s 5 characters (all inactive for over 2 days now), 1 has never once posted, 2 have never posted in-character after intros, and those same 2 have been inactive for 5+ days. And of Admin Angel’s 3 characters, 1 didn’t even bother to “check in within 24 hours” (or ever, thus far) as stated in the rules. They can’t do an activity check until they can buy enough time to get more than half of their own muses out of it. They’ve clearly decided to focus their efforts on having an RP that looks really full, active and popular at first glance, but aren’t bothered with what’s going on behind the scenes, including in relation to their own rules.
If they did, Admin Rory would have made some amount of effort to reach out to myself or Dottie, who both applied with characters filling out Rory’s wanted connections for the band. But I’ve been here since opening and there’s been zero effort made with me, and Dottie is inactive now, which is not surprising. The only response I got when I asked Rory if she had any ideas or canons was a bit of copy paste from Arden’s bio, and then she said not really because the focus of the plot is on Arden’s relationship with the guitarist. So that really made me feel that Mia and Jamie were just background details rather than actual wanted connections Rory had any interest in fleshing out. And I was going to just cut my losses on that and move forward with Mia, but Rory chose to change Mia’s room number.
The fact that the whole band rooms together was not something in the original wanted connection info, nor was it something Rory ever once (even still to this day) mentioned directly to me. And she knows I didn’t know, because she had to manually change that room number in my app. So she can’t say she thought I’d assumed it or had seen it on the accommodations page. Yet she still didn’t bother to update me, or even ask if it was okay (it wasn’t), she just did it, which sets the precedent for feeling that I can’t have open communication with her. I only found out when I saw it on the list.
This made me very uncomfortable, because I felt trapped in not feeling welcome to interact with the band, but also not being able to move away from it. It also prevents me from being able to ever have Mia in her room without me feeling uncomfortable and like I’m invading on Rory’s universe set up for Arden and the Guitarist, so that’s why Mia’s only ever wandering around the bars and it’s annoying to me. I feel that I was just expected to sacrifice the ability to have roommate or bedroom plots with characters that actually interact with me and have been building relationships with Mia, in favor of this 1 character who ignores me, 1 who is inactive and 1 who does not yet exist. I didn’t agree to that and wouldn’t have if I’d ever been asked, I’m not comfortable with it at all, but it’s a fact because it’s what Rory wanted.
While meanwhile, they’re still actively promoting to fill the guitarist slot in this already defunct band, as well as other wanted connections without even bothering to check if their current muns and muses are running smoothly or being taken care of. Some of the muses on the wanted connections list aren’t even active, but the admins are still comfortable pulling in new muns with the promise of those dead-in-the-water plots because they don’t care that there’s zero chance of them getting them once their account is in. They’re just collecting characters with no regard as to what happens to them after.
One of our newest players, (a mun who said I could name them in this post, but I have chosen not to), has been here nearly 2 whole days and has still not even been greeted by the admins (something that made them feel uncomfortable and worried they’d done something wrong), and I’m sure they’re not the only one.
The admins here are collecting people like background players to their own stories, and treating them like it, too.
It kind of makes my skin crawl to make such a negative statement so publicly, but Rory and Angel chose to do so when they were encouraging us to think of Cas as being a predator, an abuser, a harasser, and many other terrible things that I don’t even want to write about, with evidence that actually didn’t exist. So I’m sure they can handle a factual post on how they’re selfish admins.
And remember; “And if you don’t agree with us, then you are free to leave.” - Admin Rory
Keep your eyes open, everyone. Never let your admins tell you it’s a “my way or the highway” situation when they’re asking for your support in publicly denouncing someone as a rape apologist or worse. That’s what the literal photo on the cover of Cancel Culture looks like.
Don’t let your admins cause you stress, then accept that it’s because they needed a mental health day.
Don’t let your admins get away with breaking their own rules.
Don’t let your admins postpone activity checks just because they wouldn’t survive them. Now that I see they’re planning (again) to do one today, don’t let them conveniently overlook themselves or their partners.
Don’t let people like Rory and Angel have power in this community. Lack of accountability is dangerous.
But at least karma’s real.
Okay, later guys.
Never in my life have I seen such rude admins. She was just asking for proof POLITELY might I add, and y'all attacked her. She was polite in asking whetger you received her messages and she had the receipts to prove it. Take this post as me leaving the rp. I am sick. Asking for PROOF is not ride.
