Libations!

Reviews of drinks (and possibly some food) in restaurants and bars across the world. Mostly London though as this is my base at the moment. Credit has to go to my Boyfriend for taking me these places and teaching me about drinks!

Nourishment - ECC, China town, London

Perhaps one of the reasons i really like this drink is due to the fact that it has Absinthe in it and i am a crazy fan on liquorice!

This drink consists of :

Violet liqueur

Absinthe (7 dashes)

Tequila (Calle 23 was used in this)

Dry Vermouth

Lemon

Lime

Shaken, Double Strained, Served in Champagne Coupe

The violet liqueur is quite sweet so no extra sugar is needed. The Tequila and Absinthe works very well with each other where the sharpness of the Tequila has been muted by the subtle flavor of violets and rounded by the sugar. The Absinthe adds an interesting depth to the drink, and also complements the violets. Its quite refreshing and doesn’t get too heavy, even if you have more than one of them and it is balanced nicely right in the middle of sweet/sour/bitter while still being flavourful.

Reasons for starting this blog

First, let me introduce myself. I am Danish, grew up in Dubai and currently live in London, with my partner. Now it so happens that this lovely guy i am living with is a bartender - a kickass one of that even! So soon he grew impatient with my "vodka redbull" nights and decided to get me to drink "proper drinks", to learn to appreciate the different flavors and to understand what goes into making a really nice cocktail. I just recently started keeping a sort of "Drink Journal" if you will and thought that maybe some other people would be interested in the places we check out (Read: me and my boyfriend) and the drinks we try.

This is my objective opinion of the drinks we're served, the feel of the pub/bar/clubs, its location and so on.

At least I am going to try to be as objective as possible.

Hopefully this will be a guide for other cocktail enthusiast and it will give you a reference point when you want to go out for an exceptional drink.
