Post-Canon RP Blog for Ruli Tsukiyono and Angoramon from Digimon Ghost Game. Please read RULES and ABOUT before following! Follows back from @acidrp-followblog (Non-RP Blogs please do not reblog).
@chronicparagon
"Oh- sorry!"
Ruli pulled her hand back from the shelf. This niche little horror store had tons of goodies, but her and the other woman had still managed to reach towards the plushies at the same time. Well, Ruli didn't want to be rude, and besides, there was plenty to go around.
"You can go first!"
“Dorm leader's been busier lately... I’ve gotten help from dad and Terriermon, but they don’t stay that long.”
Meanwhile Gammamon chirped and opened the box, he had no problem with the decoration being not exactly like the ones he sees on TV and in stores, but he appreciated the effort and feelings put on them. Friends won’t judge a gift by its appearance or price and yes for its feelings conveyed in it.
“Delicious champion!! Ah, is that Angoramon?” Gammamon showed one with bunny ears and a face on it, “It’s funny… I like it!”
“I guess Gammamon liked your gift” Hiro laughed innocently, “I wonder what Dorm Leader and Jellymon are up to now.”
It’s not like Hiro got ‘disconnected’ from the real world, but it’s a little harder to meet people from school once you graduate. Hiro also had a brand new issue of getting too focused on stuff and losing the awareness of the things around him when extremely concentrated, something Hokuto might have passed to him.
Also, Hiro never stopped calling Kiyoshiro as "dorm leader" even after he graduated and left the school dorm.
"Yet despite that, Higacchi always manages to make time for his gacha games," she huffed, only half-joking. Being glued to her own phone perhaps made her a liiiittle impatient about getting texted back... especially when she knew the recipient was just as glued.
She brightened back up quickly, adding, "Well, if it's you, I'm sure you'll figure it out! Let me know if there's any way I can help."
Gammamon's joy brought a giggle to her lips. "It was an... attempt at Angoramon," she laughed sheepishly. "But I'm glad you like them! Enjoy!"
Back on their other team members, Ruli sighed. Jellymon was even harder to get ahold of than Kiyoshiro- no doubt busy with her own schemes on top of her and Kiyoshiro's usual work. Though, Ruli had to admit, she was also often busy too- all of Team Lirurun was, really. Here Hiro was working on this big project, and she didn't even know about it! All of their responsibilities had only piled with age, and they already had the weight of two worlds on their shoulders by middle school.
"You know, I really miss the old days sometimes. I mean, not all the 'almost dying' we did, but it was so easy for us to get together."
Taken aback by the sudden and half-accurate accusation would be an understatement. Maybe people from other worlds was just common here? What an odd world if that was the case.
"A bit of a personal question for someone you've just met. Don't I look human?" he retorted. "Unlike your rabbit friend here."
It wasn't something he usually made much effort to hide in dimensions that were entirely unlike his own since it wouldn't be messing with his own timelines.
"What if I am from a different world? Seemes to be a bit of a specific accusation to make."
"I knew it!! What world are you from?!"
The avoidance was practically an admission anyway, as far as Ruli was concerned.
With a small chuckle, she replied, "My 'rabbit friend' is also from another world, the Digital World. Sometimes the Digimon from there take a human shape, it's a reasonable concern!"
Reasonable as in, didn't need another brain-eating spider woman incident. But the stranger didn't need to know about something as harrowing as that.
Angoramon's curiousity was also piqued now, the researcher in him outweighing his suspicion.
"Ruli and I are ambassadors for our respective worlds. If you'd like, we can sit down and discuss it further. I'm sure you have more questions, as do I."
Already pulling out her phone, Ruli chimed in, "I know a great café only five minutes away!"
A perplexed look crossed his features while he repeated the word 'superflat' in question. He hadn't heard of it, but the more she described, the more it sounded like something he wouldn't be into, which caused him to frown slightly as he crossed his arms.
However, it was when she brought up Goya, did his face light up with excitement and he said, "Actually, I'm pretty into his work! Those paintings are pretty mysterious indeed. Fairly relatable too, I'd say."
His tail wagged slightly, as he was happy there was at least something in common between them. Perhaps this trip wouldn't be a waste of time after all? "What about Gustave Moreau? I happen to enjoy his work too!"
Well, she was right that Goya would be up Gulus's alley, though she was still surprised that he already knew of him. Admittedly, she'd been working under the assumption that Gulus didn't know much about the human world- but maybe she hadn't been giving him enough credit.
She chuckled softly at the 'relatable' remark, shaken from her previous musing as her mind instantly flashed back to the Saturn Devouring His Son painting that had first grabbed her attention. And, well, her first few impressions of the Digimon, too. "I think I can get why."
She was proven yet again after she hadn't given him enough credit, as he'd now referenced an artist that wasn't ringing a bell for her. Her brows furrowed a little before she finally gave up trying to pull a memory that wasn't there, and turned to her phone.
"Moreau..?"
Sounded... French? She switched away from her Map app- not like she needed it much right now anyway, it was another five minutes before they'd need to turn anywhere- and opened up a new tab in the browser, searching her best guess at the spelling of the name. The floating severed head painting in the first few results made her feel she was on the right track.
She hummed as she flicked through, finally landing on one that really stuck out to her. A sphinx resting on a spire, human forms encased in the rock.
"I like this piece of his," she said, holding the phone up for Gulus to see again. "I find it fairly relatable, too."
Then, with a tilt to her head, she finally circled back to her thought before, "But, you know... You know more about humans than I thought. I didn't think you'd be interested."
He would have startled at the sudden appearance of the monster if it wasn't for the fact that it looked like a fluffy rabbit with gigantism. Kaiba wasn't intimidated but sure was quizzical.
Oh, and then it spoke.
Sure, why not. This might as well just happen. Ah well, different dimension, different rules.
"Righhht. Explain a bit more than that if you would?" he asked taking his eyes off the oversized rabbit for only a moment, not trusting it.
"Because where I come from holograms don't really talk like that."
Roars and some sounds maybe for the duel monsters. But not words.
Angoramon raised a brow, looking over to Ruli, then looked back to hold the man's gaze. The lack of trust was mutual.
"You first," she challenged. "You're from another world, right? Are you human?"
Perhaps an outlandish guess to make point blank, but not knowing Digimon or this world's holograms? Either this man lived deep under a rock, or he wasn't from here. Like really not from here.
It wasn't too shocking a prospect for Ruli though, Angoramon was from a different world too, after all. But if this man was, in fact, human, it would be the first time she'd met a human from another world.
@cardplays
She opened the booster pack, staring intently at the cards. So many words in such a small space... she had no idea what any of this meant, but some of the art was cool at least!
Turning to the younger duelist- the proper term for people who play Duel Monsters, apparently- she asked, "So, how does this work, exactly? These cards have.... a lot of instructions written on them."
“Champion is always good!” Gammamon snorted triumphantly, he was sure Ruli’s choco was no exception. Maybe he could be a sommelier of chocolate, but Hiro couldn’t afford this career or experience – Unless some rich friend of theirs offered a hand (like… Kiyoshiro?) “I want to try Ruli’s champion!”
As for Ruli’s question to Hiro… The boy laughed nervously.
“It’s not going well…”
Hiro took a moment to explain what was the thing though.
“It’s a communicator-like device so we can talk with dad, Quantumon and any digimon in the Digital World in real-time.”
This sounds silly, but their technology never had a way to do that, right? He had messages from Hokuto in hologram form, but none of those was a real-time communication. It was all pre-recorded though.
“Hiro’s been working on that since he finished High school,” Gammamon added.
“Can we eat now, please?” And Gammamon looked at the two humans with puppy eyes, “I want to eat champion…”
She meant to open the box already, but admittedly was distracted by Hiro's project. She thought on it, summarizing in the way that most made sense to her: "Oh, kind of like... long-distance calling? But, really, really long distance."
She added after some more thought, "Angoramon would like that, I bet. Have you tried getting in touch with Kiyoshiro?"
Remembering the box, she looked apologetically at Gammamon, saying, "Oops, sorry, Gammamon! Here, you can open the box, it's all yours!"
Inside would be a variety of chocolate truffles of varying decorative quality- the ones she'd attempted to put bunny ears and faces on turned out especially sad.
Turning back to Hiro with a smile, she asked, "I'm sure Hiro won't mind if you have a few now, right?"
"I don't like random strangers running up and touching all my stuff. I don't think many people would, it's not overreacting," he huffed.
But before he could complain further his attention is drawn to the stranger's own piece of odd technology. Curiosity got the better of him due to his scientific mind.
"... I repeat, DigiWhats. I'm not from around here so no, not caught up on the news."
Technically speaking, he wasn't lying.
"Mine is a Duel Disk. It... well, it does a lot of things that I've added to it, but its main purpose is to create realistic holograms of monsters from a game."
She frowned, though didn't argue. Sure, he was kind of right... but there was still room for improvement with his attitude. He was a peculiar one, though, and she wasn't ready for this conversation to end just yet. Not knowing the Digivice was one thing, but not knowing what Digimon were? Some suspicions were starting to brew....
"Realistic holograms of monsters?" She tilted her head innocently, a faux puzzled look on her face. "Oh, you mean like this?"
With a push of a button on the side of her Digivice, a previously unseen monster suddenly appeared behind the young woman. He was a tall, lean rabbit with bright yellow and white fur, a little taller than the man in front of them.
"Ah- Ruli...." He spoke, slightly flustered at being materialized without warning, then turned to bow politely to Kaiba. "Forgive the sudden intrusion, I am..." He looked to Ruli, and she looked back with a slight nod. Man, when was the last time they'd needed this excuse? "...A hologram."
"Hmm... alright," he'd comment before walking passed her, his tail swaying low to the ground with the faintest twitch at the tip here and there; an indicator of his slight annoyance. As he made his way to their destination, however, he began to ponder what sorts of worked were there. Would they be all irritatingly bright and colorful? Etchings of a child, or masterpieces that made the viewer's eyes wander in awe... or would it have magical anime girls like the ones from Kiyoshiro's mangas? That thought alone made him shiver visibly in sheer disgust. If such a thing was displayed there, he'd instantly walk out and consider the whole thing a bloody sham! An insult to fine art itself!
Honestly, he wasn't expecting anything like Goya's work, or his favorite piece by Artemisia, but he had hoped to see something of promise there at least.
"What sort of art do you like?" he finally questioned, tossing a brief glance at her as he tried to get a feel for what to expect there, based on her interests.
"Oh, hm..."
Her mind first flashed back to the countless hours she'd spent watching videos about horror movie special effects, but that didn't seem like the kind of art she was being asked about. Truthfully, she liked art well enough, but she knew much more about music. Finally, she decided on her answer, "I like art like Superflat. Art that's bold and colourful and pops, you know?"
As she said this, though, her mind flashed back again to one of her old Lirurun deepdives. Wait, okay, these paintings she really liked.
"Oh, and the Black Paintings by Francisco Goya! They were a series Goya painted on the walls of his own home, and so little is known about them including the names- if they had any! But the subject matter was so disturbing, it's believed they were a reflection of Goya's mind. They were his private paintings, you see."
With a playful laugh, recalling his comment from before, she added, "You might like them too, actually."

Gammamon knows to open doors since he came to the human world. That ability didn’t stop years later. But his baby-ish speech had slowly vanished at this point – still, he keeps calling Chocolate as “Champion”, or calling Kotaro and Kiyoshiro as “Kota” and “Kiyo”. But more importantly, he improved his vocabulary and phrase construction quite quickly (is it by Gulus’ influence? who knows)
Anyway, Gammamon opened the door as usual.
“Oh, Ruli!” he smiled, “Hiro, Ruli’s here!”
“Coming in a second!! Please make yourself home!” Hiro shouted from inside. Now that he’s older he just decided to move back to his old home. Hokuto popped in from time-to-time and he now has Gammamon and Espimon with him. Not empty as it used to be when Hokuto had been missing!!
“Hiro’s busy working on a thing” Gammamon commented, “He got Hokuto’s intellect after all…”
What was Hiro working on, you may ask? He, Hokuto and Quantumon were developing a better way to communicate with the Digital World, but he was getting a little distressed by their attempts. A real-time communicator with the Digital World seemed impossible! But he wouldn’t give up! They couldn’t though.
After another connection error Hiro sighed and left the office room. He met Ruli and Gammamon.
“Sorry, I couldn’t open the door” he apologized, then he noticed the box in her hands “What’s that?”
“Smells good,” Gammamon said, “Smells like champion… Is it champion?” he was already excited by the chocolate scent.
"Gammamon! Hi!"
Ruli returned the smile, entering once the door was opened. She giggled at Hiro's yelling, then turned inquisitively back to Gammamon.
"Oh? What kind of thing?"
Their distance apart was regrettable at times, especially for someone like Ruli, who loved to be in the know. Keeping in touch with friends regularly only got harder as she got older and even busier. But at least every so often she had the down time to stop by, like today.
She waved when Hiro finally entered, replying, "Don't worry about it! I'm just glad I caught you at home to begin with."
Presenting the box with both hands to the eager Gammamon, she explained cheerily, "A gourmet chocolate shop offered me a free chocolate-making class if I advertised them on my blog. I thought Gammamon would like the results!"
Then she added, with a turn back to Hiro, "They aren't super pretty... but they still taste good. How's your own project going?"
My friend is flying in for the weekend for my birthday, so I’ll be inactive for a bit! I’ll pick back up on replies next week.
All things considered, this place seemed pretty normal? At least at first, Kaiba had learned better than to assume during his dimension travels. But at least nothing had tried to kill him yet.
His careful, analytical exploration of the place was interrupted by a stranger.
"A what?"
What kind of word had this lady just made up? On instinct, he pulled his duel disk away from the curious person immediately.
"No, it's not... whatever that word you said. Don't go and try and poke around with other people's stuff without their permission. You have any idea how expensive this thing is?"
The man's attitude immediately took her aback. She huffed, mood soured.
"No need to overreact..."
However rich and fancy that thing was, she doubted it was as valuable as what she had. Speaking of, she lifted the simple Fitbit-looking device up closer for the man to see. At least she had no problem sharing tech.
"This is a Digivice," she explained. The way her world was now, she didn't feel any need to be dodgy about it. And, well, had no reason to assume this man was from a different one altogether. "You don't watch the news much, do you? It's how we connect with our Digimon."
Pointing at his arm again (keeping space between her hand and the device on it), she asked, "So, if that's not a Digivice, then what is it?"
Kouichi startled out of the book he'd been engrossed with, twisting around and then hastily stepping out of the way of the stranger standing behind him.
"Oh, yeah, no, right, excuse me, sorry...!"
His thoughts, like his words, were spinning. The thickly bound encyclopedia in hand looked somehow like they'd been written by Bokomon. How the tome had ended up in the human world, hidden within this section of books... Well, Kouichi supposed he wouldn't find the answers written inside.
Ruli smiled, stepping over to grab her book.
"Thank you!"
Though, when she had turned to express her gratitude, the stranger seemed.... well, she wasn't sure quite what to make of his expression. She stole a glance at the book he was holding for a hint, but couldn't make out any major details through his hands. Maybe he was just upset at being interrupted? If so, oops...
Feeling the need to check in case she needed to apologize, she asked, "Um. Are you... okay?"
