Liar Game Ep 12 Final Post
ÅH. This was a good drama. The final really delivered. I don’t know what I had expected as an ending, but it wasn’t that the liar game would continue. Exciting, that leaves possibilities for a season 2. Though this is a k-drama so the chance for that is minimal. They left a few questions unanswered - what happened to the people that were eliminated in the beginning that couldn’t pay back the station? And why wasn’t the lady reporter in the ending? But they answered a lot of the questions I had in the last episode.
Do Youngs and Woo Jins connection were told. The story about their childhood, and Da Jungs connection to them. Do Young really has a tragic past. I sympathise with him, and he is clearly insane because of what he went through in his childhood. It’s actually sad that he ran away/were kidnapped to start the liar game again, because I think that what he needed the most was care. The fact that Do Young wasn’t just evil, but a rather gray character was good. That he wanted to die alone, without dragging Woo Jin and Da Jung with him in death in the end, actually says a lot about his character. That he didn’t want to kill them, but rather kill the people he thought were responsible for his fate made him a lot easier to sympathise with.
I were right about the trios connection, though I don’t think that mum was evil. She just trusted the wrong person and was really naive. The show has drawn a couple of parallells between mum and Da Jung and in the end Da Jungs character growth has made her a bit different from mum. She doesn’t trust anyone blindly anymore - she uses her head and when she makes the decision to trust it’s not because she doesn’t know how to not believe someone. She was allowed to make the decision to betray and then to trust Woo Jin in the last game for example. I do think that is a lesson the show is trying to tell us - trust has to be earned. You can’t go around not trusting everyone you meet, but you can choose who you trust depending on what you know about that person. And you don’t have to trust everyone - that would be stupid because people lie.
Hacker boy survived <3 I’m glad he didn’t die. I hope that he stays in touch with both Woo Jin and Da Jung. And Jamie - I’m so glad she changed sides. She is really smart and awesome, and of course it was her and not the useless actor or bulldog that figured out a way to get the information to Woo Jin. She’s the best can she please be friends with Da Jung.
And for gods sake Jo Dal Goo - you don’t scream when you enter a place that could possibly be full of murderers! How stupid are you really?! It’s just pure luck that he managed to save dad without getting himself killed.
I’m glad that dad didn’t die, though I’m a bit mad at the show for not showing a scene were Da Jung were mad at dad. I mean - he abandoned her!!! How can he just come back and live together with her without letting us see him apologise to her? Even though Da Jung is kind and chooses to trust and believe in people, I still think that she would be mad at dad for just leaving her without any explanation.
I loved it whenever Woo Jin said “I have a way to win”. That is an awesome line, and it’s a perfect way to end the drama with those words.
My favourite scene is probably when Woo Jin told everyone that he was Da Jungs dog, though the scene with Jamie sitting on all the money was excellent as well. Jamies character growth was amazing. That she started out as a villain and ended on the side of our heroes is magnificent. And how she went from betraying to trusting people.
@seunrig was my match for this dramaexchange and I will put the other dramas she recommended, Signal and Heartless City on my watchlist. I liked that it was only 12 episodes long, because then I had the time to write a post for every episode, and I probably wouldn’t have done that if the drama was longer. I also think that I got more out of this drama by watching it and thinking about it before I moved onto the next episode.
Liar Game isn’t the best k-drama I have ever seen, but it’s a solid drama with a couple of really amazing scenes. It worked for me, and I was mindblown a couple of times by the games though I think some of the versions in the genius is better. I give Liar Game a 8/10.
