Fixing RWBY's treatment of Sun is truly bizarre. In a rewrite that manages to have its female cast consistently get shafted for the men, Sun is one of the few examples I can think of a man in FRWBY getting completely gutted
His personality and behaviors are generally the same as in canon, but his treatment by the narrative is so much worse with nearly all his contributions to the story completely removed
Sun was completely written out of Volume 1, with Yang taking his role as the person Blake opens up about her past with the White Fang after outing herself as an ex-member
Volume 2 he doesn't do anything of note but this time it's also canon. Complete missed opportunity on Celtic's end to have him and Neptune help against the Paladin Roman piloted
In Volume 3 Sun and the rest of his team get electrocuted by Neptune in their fight against NDGO, causing them to lose
In Volume 4 the fight with the Sea Feilong was completely cut, removing a fight where Sun played a major role. Sun is the one to prompt Blake to remove her bow, but this takes away from Blake independently choosing to do so after being sick of hiding for so long. Blake gets a wholly original story in Volume 4 of joining the Menagerie city guard of which Sun doesn't do anything important. The attack on the Belladonna manor happens just like in canon with the only minor difference being Blake and Ilia's argument during the fight, meaning Celtic didn't really write this
Blake's plot in Volume 5 is almost entirely original, where Sun's only real contribution is getting beaten up by Hazel and destroying some White Fang Bullheads in the process.
By the way, remember the talk Sun and Blake had where he puts to bed her self-loathing issues from running away from her loved ones? The talk where Sun says that being abandoned hurts way more than anything Blake's enemies could do to them while he's recovering from Ilia attacking him to drive the point home? Yeah that was given to Kali, Blake's mom instead. She wasn't even injured or anything she just talks Blake through this problem
In Volume 6 Celtic then had the GALL to have Blake say and I quote "Thanks for all your help Sun, I couldn't have done any of this without you." In a rewrite where Sun is a superfluous addition where he has a whopping two and a half "major" contributions to the story
All of Sun's contributions and victories except for the attack on the Belladonna mansion was completely removed. And his whopping two "additions" to the story are stopping more White Fang fodder from invading Haven and taking away from Blake's agency of permanently removing her bow. I'm curious if Celtic hates Sun or something because he's easily one of the worst handled characters in FRWBY
On the subject of Celtic cheating, he stacks the deck in his favor as much as possible as early as his original Volume 1 video
He has the benefit of hindsight on his side and can include characters that CRWBY either didn't or couldn't have thought of at the time they were writing. CFVY, Tukson, and Neo all make appearances in Volume 1. Neo is especially egregious because her design was based on genderbent Roman cosplay. Roman himself was only intended to be in Volume 1 but stuck around due to his popularity. That's something you just couldn't have written beforehand, Neo as we know her wouldn't exist without these outside factors
He gives himself 20 episodes with 10 minutes of runtime to work with, and this later gets extended to 22 during V4-6. This makes nearly every volume of FRWBY longer than their canon counterparts, giving himself more runtime than CRWBY themselves had to work with
This isn't even getting into how his videos balloon in length during Volumes 5-7. FRWBY V5 is five hours long, V6 is six, and V7 is EIGHT AND A HALF HOURS. FRWBYV7 is nearly double the runtime of Volume 8, the longest volume. I know he only has narration and stills to work with, but that's inexcusable
This also ignores all the wholly original scenes in FRWBY with new environments needing completely original assets that need to be made by the animators
Celtic, you work with what you have, not what you wish you did in your perfectly idealized scenario where you had infinite time and money to make your projects
Something that people say to defend Fixing RWBY is that people only only dislike it because of the name and never give it a fair shot. I say that it's pretty sloppy entirely on its own merits. A lot of setup is completely cut out of FRWBY due to Celtic's inability to understand why things are the way they are in canon. Intentional or not, Celtic basically cheats here by weaponizing RWBY fan's pre-existing knowledge of the canon material
Salem's narration in the first episode and end of Volume 3 was completely cut, I assume to up her mystery factor or whatever. Despite the fact that, yknow, it was a cool meta twist that our narrator was the final boss the whole time as well as showing us who Cinder was working for at the end of the Beacon era
All of the scenes at Salem's castle are completely cut until Volume 6 which fucks the story so much by removing all the villain round table scenes. They gave us introductions on all our main villains, their personalities, their relationships between each other, showed us Cinder's body being a wreck from what Ruby did to her, and gave us setup on the villain's plans. And all of THAT was just the first scene there.
Instead Celtic has to cover his ass by giving additional scenes of Hazel and Watts throughout V4&5 which eats up more runtime than canon since they're spread out in multiple scenes
The setup for Tyrian getting the prosthetic for his tail was completely removed, it just comes completely out of nowhere in the Atlas arc
Mercury and Emerald's fight between each other was moved to the start of Volume 6 before they even arrive at Salem's castle. This cuts Tyrian arriving to threaten them, which also gave us the setup that Salem was changing targets to Atlas and the reasoning for why
Ironwood, somehow, is aware that Salem was immortal before the main cast arrived in Atlas when it's one of many things Oz was hiding. And it's never made clear how the hell he knows this
Ruby, somehow, is aware of the Staff of Creation's limitations that it can only do one thing at a time. She's also the first person to ever bring up the staff which makes this come completely out of nowhere
Fria completely overwhelms Cinder similar to canon, although not to as strong of a degree. Problem? All the scenes in Volume 4 showing Cinder training her maiden powers were completely cut because they're at Salem's castle. And it's never stated even ONCE that Fria has mastered her maiden powers. FRWBY has no precedent that maidens can get stronger which makes it look like the Winter Maiden's magic is inherently a lot stronger than the others for absolutely zero reason
These changes in the Atlas arc are especially egregious because Celtic went on record that he went through EIGHT DRAFTS and that he had to plan for future stuff in a way he never has before due to not having as much hindsight on future events due to the series' current hiatus
I doubt these were the only examples of removed setup, this was just the biggest examples that I could remember
I was trying to give Fixing RWBY an honest shot just so I could best have my own arguments concerning it, and while I still plan to make my way through it i was using nitter to scroll through his posts on twitter and found out that he has repeatedly targeted @tumblingxelian personally. And not in the sense of discussion or concern like my work on hbomerguy’s video—no, this is mean. Spiteful. You can tell by the posts and the thumbnails alone that this is not about anything but being angry someone makes an effort to regularly praise the parts of RWBY they love.
Any good faith i was attempting to go in with (on principle, and to have the most objective criticisms of the material rather than merely taking common FNDM criticisms as my own) has been lost by this discovery.
To me this is far more damning of his character than a shitty fanfic.
https://nitter.net/Raymond_McNeil/search?f=tweets&q=Xel
Thanks for the shout out @asm5129 I appreciate your empathic concerns a great deal! Also wait, before anything else, is Celtic on side with Shadiversity? I'm unsure who that is more embarrassing for lmao.
I was made aware of Celtic's seeming hang up on me after a different friend drew my attention to the Combat video when it came out but I kinda forgot about it right after. Barring a joke about him owing me a kick back for helping him & his hangers on keep the lights lit during hiatus, but I guess my avatar lives rent free in his head, so fairs fair XD
Beyond that and this post, I've never actually noticed him or his works, & I can't tell the difference between him & every other RWDE grifter as none of them warrant any intellectual thought on my part anyway.
Regardless, I appreciate the sentiment a great deal, good luck on your analysis, I shall light a candle for your brain cells in hopes they survive!
I just woke up and this is the first thing I see and... No, just no!!
This goes beyond being a self-entitled little shit on the internet with a huge ego, this goes beyond spreading misinformation of a show you didn't like because it dared to be different from what you wanted.
This is straight-up abusive and overall a huge asshole thing to do.
Because I can forgive being a shitty reviewer and writer... But I draw the line at jumping one of my friends who never did anything to you, then act like you have the moral high ground.
This just further proves my point on what I said last year about Healthy RWBY Discourse just not existing anymore, because it's thanks to assholes like Raymond dipshit over here who not only spreads misinformation about RWBY, shits on CRWBY for no reason, yet has the gal to act like he's the better man, but also because they want to jump people who DARE to like RWBY for pretty much no fucking reason.
THIS is why the HTDM has to go. This is why we are always so defensive, and this is why the RWBY community gets such a bad rep.
If after ALL of this, you guys STILL think we're the problem, and you're just making shit up, even after ALL of THIS... Then you're an idiot
I'm sorry, but you're an idiot! Because no reasonable person would look at THIS and say, "Nah, they're not the problem. YOU are!" Like- come on, now!
There is seriously no "both sides"ing this. Even if some RWBY fans can be a bit much, too much of the HTDM is actively antagonistic and actively endorsing the spread of misinformation.
This is insanely petty for Celtic to gang up on Xel, and is pretty damning evidence of how content starved the HTDM is at this point of the hiatus. The fact he's partnering up with SHADVERSITY on anything is also a pretty damning sign of Celtic himself, ESPECIALLY if you know what Shad himself has written.
By the way, here's that aforementioned chart. Tear apart or take as unserious as you wish.
Also, I need a Raven AMV of Bury the Guilt
I kept thinking on how to respond to this but cause I am not that familiar with DMC, I feel like there's context I am missing.
Though based on the character summary/comparisons yeah these lines of comparison seem much more apt than the usual one's XD
Okay, speaking as someone familiar with Devil May Cry, I can not only confirm that this is one-hundred percent on point, I can also note the actual funniest part that this ask did not mention:
That RWBY Volume 5 did indeed pretty much do a one-to-one genderbent version of the Nero-Vergil 'son having to deal with his deadbeat fuckup edgelord dad' conflict seen in DMC5 with Yang and Raven...
...TWO WHOLE-ASS YEARS before Devil May Cry 5 even came out! XD
God this is so accurate it hurts. I always say Vergil is just Raven if she actually bought her own bullshit.
Following the bees from my previous post, how about we address one of the many Goliaths in the room that is Fixing RWBY? Blake takes Wilt & Blush after Adam's death and it replaces Gambol Shroud
For one thing, in RWBY weapons are extensions of the self. These things are very personal to the people that use them, and taking another person's weapon needs to have a ton of meaning behind it. Like Weiss taking Gambol when she thought Blake died after falling into the void. To be fair, there is *some* meaning behind Blake trying to take Adam's weapon given their past history together. The problem is that in FRWBY Gambol Shroud was basically a piece of junk she made out of scrap metal out of necessity, and Wilt&Blush was a gift from Sienna to Adam instead of something he himself made or took. Really guts the personal meaning angle there
Second, Blake wants to essentially redeem Wilt & Blush for lack of a better term. This the weapon of an international terroristic mass murderer. Adam has killed tons of people off and especially on screen in FRWBY. On top of severing Yang's arm he cut one of Velvet's rabbit ears in half which should feel absolutely VILE to a fellow faunus because that's the sort of hate crime a human supremacist would do in these types of rewrites. He mutilated one of Blake's closest friends in Velvet and her future girlfriend in Yang, his weapons should be shattered and thrown away into a ditch not repurposed into new gear for the main cast
Yang is even shown being scared and traumatized by Wilt&Blush when Blake asks her if it's okay for her to reforge the thing into Gambol Shroud 2.0. Oh but it's okay because Yang said it's alright if that's what Blake wants. Oh right, she just remakes the thing into Gambol Shoud 2.0 and it nerfs her because she isn't used to the different weight and gun's power. So many extra steps just to end up in a similar space as canon just so Celtic could add more faunus racism into the story due to Blake's new weapon having a red blade
This also ignores the clear symbolism of Gambol Shroud's canon reforge with the yellow strip across the blade. It's both a symbolic nod to Yang helping Blake heal on her journey as well as a nod to an IRL Japanese pottery mending art that shows off the flaws as something to be praised for surviving the damage. If I was Blake I'd want nothing to do with this man's equipment and reforge Gambol just like in canon due to all the baggage Wilt&Blush has
In the spirit of Pride Month, I'll talk about how Fixing RWBY handles LGBT characters. To put it bluntly, not good
Ilia never confesses her feelings to Blake and they're never made explicit when it's a key part of her character. Just hints that are "totally gay but never saying it to avoid making the homophobes mad." Which is an odd choice given every other explicitly gay character in FRWBY. This also removed the fun fact that her confession to Blake is the same episode that Yang mourns Blake running away from her to Weiss, adding fuel for the bees. As I said in a previous post, she also gets sent to jail despite doing by far the least bad out of all the major antagonists of the story and helping save the day at Haven like in canon
Saffron and Terra are ultimately very minor characters, but they help the main cast achieve their goals by having Adrian act as a distraction and Terra teaching Blake how to turn off the CCT tower. In FRWBY they're reduced to a pure background element because the plan to take a Bullhead is overruled when an army of ocean dwelling grimm invade Argus due to the relic before they can even start
Robyn's sexuality is completely unimportant to her character, and outside of a few second look she shares with Fiona that may be hinting at something, she has no romantic hints or connections to anyone. While she starts in a barely antagonistic role, she ultimately joins the heroes over the course of the Atlas arc. In FRWBY she has an obvious thing with May as early as their introduction. She becomes an unwitting pawn to Salem by leaking Atlas intel to Cinder as payment for helping Mantle take a ton of supplies from Atlas during a food shortage. She then gets assassinated by Tyrian to ignite a civil war between Mantle and Atlas. She isn't given a chance to defend herself, she doesn't protect anybody and sacrifice herself, there's no thematic reason for her death to happen, her flaws aren't even the reason she dies. She was just a pawn that gets killed to progress Salem's plans
Melanie Malachite in FRWBY has several flirty moments with Cinder over the course of the Atlas arc. Given how she's taking over canon Neo's role in the story this isn't a good sign on where things will go for them
Clover in FRWBY explicitly had a boyfriend he broke up with, and he's still alive as of the current storyline (FRWBYV7). You could call this a positive over canon, but it comes at the cost of his flaws getting sanded down that were the reason for his death to begin with. Clover's blind loyalty to Ironwood caused him to focus on Qrow over Tyrian the actual serial killer just because Ironwood had an arrest warrant on Qrow. This resulted in Qrow and Tyrian teaming up leading to Clover's death. Blind loyalty itself is a key reason the Atlas arc goes down the road it does. This change in FRWBY feels trying to "equalize" the death toll from Robyn's death at the cost of any thematic coherence of canon
And Bumbleby is such a mess in FRWBY I'm saving it for its own post
Having finished Fixing RWBY recently to finally sate my curiosity after avoiding it for years, I have a lot to say. It's a very flawed AU at best and an awful fix fic in reality, but first I want to start on a huge issue I noticed. It's a deeply sexist and racist rewrite that makes the women and POC cast significantly worse/weaker than canon RWBY. I don't know if Celtic did these changes intentionally or it was simply his biases, and honestly I'm not sure which is worse, but it doesn't change the results. I'll give every major example I could think of
Glynda & Qrow - Canon: Glynda has a back and forth with Half Maiden Cinder. Qrow caused CEM to retreat but they just had a tough battle with Amber and Cinder got the power ten seconds ago. Could argue either way on who you think is stronger/better. FRWBY: Glynda's fight with Cinder is completely cut. Qrow is a legendary huntsman that is explicitly far superior to her. Qrow still causes CEM to retreat despite them being completely fresh in this rewrite
Roman - Canon: Makes racist comments about the White Fang half the time, didn't kill Tukson purely due to having more important things to focus on, dies to a grimm. FRWBY: Racism is heavily downplayed/completely removed, didn't kill Tukson because he's more useful alive than dead even as a mole, becomes Oz's next host instead of Oscar and becomes part of the main cast
Neo - Canon: A woman out on revenge for the death of the one person who accepted her for who she is. FRWBY: Roman's accessory
Cardin - Canon: Racist bully. FRWBY: Gets a redemption arc and becomes friends with Velvet. "A big softie" by Volume 6. Explains to Blake that she's being overprotective of Yang instead of Yang herself saying she doesn't need protection
Velvet - Canon: Cool weapon that takes advantage of her Semblance, fights two Paladins at once, easily top 5 strongest students in the Beacon era. FRWBY: Dust grenade launcher, gets an ear cut off by Adam, HolyBuns fuel
Neptune - Canon: Gets the win for his team against NDGO. FRWBY: KOs his own entire team against NDGO, gets his spine impaled becoming crippled
Adam's New Victims - Card: Loses an eye. Fox: Gets fingers cut off. Velvet: Gets a rabbit ear cut off. Only Cardin gets a rematch
Blake's Bow - Canon: Blake permanently removes it at the start of V4 since she's tired of hiding who she is. FRWBY: Gets prompted by Sun to do this
Roman Replaces Oscar - Nothing to add, Oscar was completely written out
Sienna - Canon: Lead the White Fang down the path of violent revolution. FRWBY: An OC did that, Sienna only takes over the White Fang after the Fall of Beacon, and she's more moderate than the OC as well
Raven - Canon: A coward taking the Lamp to save her own skin at the cost of her right hand's life. FRWBY: An idiot that agrees to Vernal's plan to become the Spring Maiden Decoy (Vernal is Raven's daughter in FRWBY) despite being shown to be insanely overprotective of her and that plan puts a target the size of Atlas on her back
Shay D Mann - Canon: Unimportant low level grunt. FRWBY: Hinted to be Vernal's father (or is at least a father figure for her), takes control of the Branwen tribe when they abandon her due to Vernal's death. He's still a creep who hits on Yang btw which is even worse given Vernal's rewrites
Oz Hazel & Oscar - Hazel's brother Magnus (not sister Gretchen) looks nothing like him or Oscar (Oscar is Magnus' son in FRWBY). And of course Magnus is the one who Oz possesses to become the man we know in the Beacon era
Yang's PTSD - Canon: Affects her but she's still capable. FRWBY: Completely cripples her at random and would have gotten her killed at multiple points if someone else didn't save her
Ilia - Her feelings for Blake are never made explicit. She gets sent to prison after Volume 5 ends to "repent her crimes" despite by far doing the least bad of all the major antagonists of FRWBY. She didn't even attempt to kill Blake's parents and helps save the day at Haven just like canon too
Adam - Gets a fleshed out backstory showing how awful his life is. Gets pity when he dies despite all the atrocities he committed and Blake wants to redeem his weapon. Adam not only kills a lot of people on and off screen in FRWBY but he also cut off one of Velvet's rabbit ears which should feel absolutely VILE to a fellow faunus like Blake. He also gets turbo hyper giga ultra super omega amped going from fighting evenly with Blake in FRWBYV5 to fighting all of Team RWBY at once multiple times in FRWBYV6
Emerald vs Mercury - Canon: Brief but neither lands any major hits on the other, they're at a similar level. FRWBY: Mercury bodies Em. He came out sweaty, she came out bruised and battered on the floor
Maria - Canon: A main character of V6, mentor, helps the main cast in the volume's climax. FRWBY: Doesn't appear until after The Lost Fable, still mentor, barely there in the climax, petty grudge with Cordovin is completely cut, stays behind in Argus
Ozpin (remember his original life) - Canon: A flawed hero doing the best he can on an impossible mission against an invincible enemy. FRWBY: A villain that keeps the world at war with Salem because he doesn't want the gods to kill her
Salem's first scene - Canon: Shows her command and presence by instantly making her round table shut up and stop arguing. Gives everyone orders on how to advance her plans. Stays calm despite setbacks at Beacon. Makes it clear she will train Cinder and help her recover from Ruby's Silver Eyes. FRWBY (Not counting The Lost Fable here): Punishes Hazel for failing at Haven. Loses her temper upon hearing that Oz is already back
Terra Cotta-Arc - Canon: Helps by teaching Blake how to shut down the local CCT Tower for their plans. FRWBY: Background character, does nothing of note due to the Volume 6 climax being completely overhauled
Cinder's FRWBY Opponents - Amber: Doesn't get to fight at all, instantly gets her powers sucked up. Pyrrha: Gets a little bit of maiden magic to put up a better fight than canon, still dies. Vernal (If you count it): Dies just like canon but has darker skin now. Raven: Wins like in canon but with extra stabbing at the end of the fight. Malachite: Does worse than Neo in canon but survives to take her role, Arslan: Dies in less than twenty seconds of narration, doesn't even put up a good fight
Cordovin - Canon: Arrogant blowhard that ultimately has Argus' best interest at heart. "I'll take it from here! After all, I was sworn to protect the people!" FRWBY: Coward that runs away the instant a grimm army attacks Argus. "Argus could use some thinning out"
Dee & Dudley - Canon: Loser huntsmen where one dies to show that the main cast are at least on the level of average huntsmen. FRWBY: Heroes that singlehandedly save the day at Argus by turning on the comms during Cordovin's villain speech convincing the Argus fleet to defend Argus. This also completely removes Ruby's Silver Eyes moment btw
Jacque - Canon: Corrupt businessman, awful and abusive father and husband, unwitting pawn to Salem by helping Watts. FRWBY: Less awful businessman and father, despite being his entire family's abuser he doesn't get put on blast anywhere near as much as Weiss does in Atlas for running away from him
Robyn - Canon: Neutral figure that becomes allied with the heroes. FRWBY: Unwitting pawn to Cinder, gets assassinated
Cinder & Watts - Cinder has all her agency and independence in the Atlas arc stolen from her when Watts shows up and takes complete command of her side of the operation
Willow - Canon: Set up cameras around the Schnee manor to protect her family as best she can despite her depression. FRWBY: Just an alcoholic mother, blames Weiss for running away from her abuser because poor Whitley needs her
Winter - Canon: Encourages Weiss to carve her own path independent of Jacque's money. Protective of Weiss above all else. Threatens her men the instant she sees Weiss in handcuffs. FRWBY: "Weiss just talk to dad and appease the enemy so you can have his money." Waits until an entire conversation to uncuff Weiss and the rest of the main cast. Blames Weiss for running away from Jacque
Clover - Canon: Military man whose blind loyalty to Ironwood gets himself killed. FRWBY: These flaws are heavily downplayed and he survives the fight with Tyrian and Qrow because he didn't force himself into a 2v1 situation
Ironwood - Canon: A paranoid man whose flaws turn everybody against him and is a major contributor to the Fall of Atlas. FRWBY: Flaws are heavily, extremely downplayed. Has good reason to not trust the heroes with all the information available to him
WEISS - Every change to her in this rewrite makes me absolutely livid. Her character has been assassinated at every level in FRWBY

I'm always baffled by the people who expect me to be apologetic for liking RWBY and seem genuinely offended when I'm not. Motherfuckers who still have their Hogwarts houses in their bio think they're too good for us. Do they really need me to explain why RWBY is better than their precious wizard books? Because I can. With charts and diagrams and bibliographies and fucking musical numbers I can. Go ahead, make my day.
Screw it I'm suddenly feeling petty, let me list of some of the most obvious reasons right now:
-actual queer representation. Two queer protagonists in a slowburn queer romance together even.
-a predominantly female cast with four female protagonists and varied and meaningful female relationships. (Harry Potter is over a million words long and passes the bechdel test, like, a single digit number of times and it's usually only when two women are calling each other fat, ugly or mannish)
-actually anti-authority and challenges existing power structures.
-no weird obsession with innate genetically deterministic moral hierarchy.
-villains who are more than one dimensional saturday morning cartoon baddies whose only motivation is evil for evil's sake.
-a proactive protagonist with principles and agency.
-actual character arcs and character growth that means something by the end.
-not absolutely saturated by the author's general meanness, judgementalism and disdain for her fellow humans.
-is neither antisemitic, nor pro-slavery.
-does not directly fund the war on trans rights and the destroying of trans lives globally IRL.

I need a frame, like yesterday!!!!!
Bumbleby and its buildup is far more flawed in Fixing RWBY than it is in canon
Right off the bat Volume 1 puts them and the entire rest of team RWBY on much rockier footing than canon for the sake of "realism" or whatever
Yang takes over Sun's role in V1, which while more fuel for the bees than in canon, is a contributing factor to Sun being almost a waste of space in FRWBY due to having almost all his contributions to the story written out
Burning the Candle and the dance is mostly unchanged in V2
In Volume 3 Yang phrases her reasoning for attacking Mercury slightly differently than in canon, which makes the connections with Adam stronger than in canon to Blake causing her to stop trusting her. When the Fall of Beacon starts, with absolutely zero reasoning explained to the audience, Blake calls Yang apologizing saying she should have trusted her more. I have no idea what caused this change in her mind
In Volume 4 Blake almost never mentions the people she ran away from due to speedrunning her entire canon Menagerie plotline
In Volume 5 Blake doesn't mention Yang until right before she's preparing to get on the ship for Haven due to focusing on an original plotline of interrogating the White Fang that attacked her family home at the end of FRWBYV4. On top of this Kali is the one who puts her self-loathing issues to bed, which takes away from another Sun contribution. And on top of THAT Ilia never confesses her feelings to Blake at any point which is a mirror to Yang mourning Blake running away from her and wanting her to be there in canon
In Volume 6 all of team RWBY is on worse terms than ever for the sake of "realism" due to being separated for over a year. Blake talks to Cardin of all people for relationship advice and he explains to her that she's being overprotective of Yang instead of Blake learning this naturally from Yang at Brunswick. Cardin. Not Velvet who FRWBY wrote to have a bigger friendship with Blake in the Beacon era. Fucking Cardin played a role in the bees happening
Volume 7 proceeds to actually make the Bees rushed from an audience perspective because their growing feelings for each other is even more blatant than in canon, leading to them confessing their feelings and kissing near the end of the volume. The thing that prompted this? Being barred from entering a racist dance club that doesn't allow faunus inside
And that's without even mentioning Adam who Celtic clearly had no idea what he was doing with despite having the benefit of hindsight on his side. Like it or not, Adam's toxic ex-boyfriend traits are one of many things he has to act as a mirror to Yang and develop the bees. In FRWBY he starts in Volume 3 mostly unchanged from canon but with more people getting disfigured by him
Volumes 4, 5, and 6 proceed to almost eliminate all his toxic ex traits in favor of focusing much more heavily on him being an extremist revolutionary and being a mentally unwell man. Volume 6 has him outright hallucinating at multiple points to make up some sort of parallel with Yang's PTSD which is much stronger and more crippling to her than in canon. But wait shit fuck Celtic is going for the bees now in Volume 7 and now that Adam's dead he has to have Blake tell the rest of RWY and the audience that yes indeed she and Adam were exes to try and fix the Yang parallels
And on top of THAT, Blake and Yang aren't the ones who get the kill on Adam. Ruby gets it. His last words were "Fuck You Schnee," to Weiss. No catharsis for Blake who gets Gambol sliced in half by him during the final battle and was haunting her throughout the entire story. No catharsis for Yang who he literally crippled and gave debilitating PTSD AND destroyed her prosthetic during their final battle. No, he gave the kill to the person with the absolute least personal connection out of the entire team
CANON BEES CANON BEES CANON BEEEEEEEES
Of course I gotta include the flag variant as well :>
HAPPY PRIDE MONTH EVERYONE, BUZZ BUZZ FOR THE BEES~!!
This should to be a common knowledge: You can't truly be both RWBY Fan and a Homophobic, since the are concepts totally opposites 😌
this game is so peak
