Hi, what kind of personality would you match to a Katie McGrath FC? It's not for high fantasy, and I want to avoid the whole "Morgana clone/witch queen" thing. We're a modern fantasy rp, if that helps.
Katie McGrath, the perfect fantasy FC. She’s been in projects that can place her in many different times periods and settings, which makes her so versatile.
Now, you didn’t give me much information on anything else about the character, only that it’s a modern fantasy roleplay.
I’m going to be completely honest here– fantasy isn’t my strong suit. I don’t know much about it, but I’m not completely lost on the subject, either. After doing some research on the definition of “modern fantasy,” it appears that it could cover a wide range of things, in my opinion. You’re talking Harry Potter, Once Upon A Time, Percy Jackson… that’s a wide range of different ‘types,’ so to speak. So, on that note, unless you’d like to message me back with more information on the type of roleplay you have, I’m afraid I won’t be much help when it comes to choosing a story/past or any abilities or such they may have.
I’ll still help as much as I can, though, because the one consistent thing throughout all time and in everything that’s been written is that people have personalities, and they usually fall in or around the same categories until they begin to form into their own unique person.
I’m going to give you the first impression I get when I see the FC, and if you’d prefer something different, feel free to message me back?
To me, she doesn’t look like she could be believably shy and quiet or something like that, but if that’s the direction you feel she should go in, I say do it. If you have a vision in your head, write it. Follow your thoughts on the character and convince everyone else through your writing.
But the FC, to me, has this look about her that says “I’m in control.” She has this look of being completely and totally confident in what she does which makes me think she’s the boss or a higher up or the leader of something. She seems like the type who could handle herself in a fight, if she needed to. She has very little regard for her own life, or maybe it’s just an arrogance about her own skill, so she doesn’t run from danger or trouble, she embraces it. She doesn’t choose the path that would be the easiest or the quietest, she prefers to make an entrance and a point.
Does she use her arrogance for evil, to cause mayhem? Or is she more ‘chaotic good,’ instead helping to do what’s right, and choosing to do it the hard way for fun/vengeance?
Is there an almost playful nature to her? Does she enjoy life, embrace it when an opportunity to fight or be involved in drama comes up?
Or is she usually serious and stoic, with a straight face and a no nonsense attitude?
Does she work well with others? Is she friendly, maybe even attempting to convince people that mayhem and drama is more fun?
Or does she keep to herself because she has no time for silly people who want to take up her time?
Whatever the fantasy elements in your roleplay are, does she appreciate them? Does she find herself in an almost reverent awe over the dragon/creature/magic when she sees it?
Or has she become used to it? Does she just brush it off in a jaded refusal to stray from her goals and way of life?
Is she more than meets the eye? Is she secretly terrified inside, or is she as fearless as she appears?
Does she break down in tears at night, or does she just blankly glare at her ceiling in an attempt to process a hard day?
I hope I was at least some help to you. I don’t know, this one was a bit harder for me because of my unfamiliarity with the genre. If this is a completely wrong direction from where you wanted to take the character, feel free to message me back and explain what I can do differently.
