Bring Me A Drink

Ryuunosuke's portrait has just been revealed by pulling back first the green curtain, and then pulling aside the white drop cloth that had been protecting it. The portrait is of a past Ryuunosuke, as he's still wearing his gakuran. The painting ends just after the second button, which as Nuri has recently reminded us, is right where the heart is. The pure white of the drop cloth that was protecting the painting is reminiscent of a shroud -- this past Ryuunosuke is gone now.

The portrait itself is split into several parts; light and dark, and blind and seeing. At the center of the composition, where the the hackimaki/blindless and the light meet, Ryuunosuke can't see and his tears are hidden. This corner is just above Ryuunosuke himself, showing the viewer the hurt he has. Of course, the other eye that can see in the light is crying, but he's made no move to wipe the tears away.

Ryuunosuke and Kazuma

Ryuunosuke is wearing both his DLC outfit and Karuma -- he's grown past the grieving student. He's facing towards the light with Karuma by his side, with his left hand in a fist right over his heart. He's frowning with complicated expression on his face, a bit taken aback.

Kazuma is in the light now, but his face is shadowed and he's still wearing his black cloak. However, the cloak, like the drop cloth, has opened to reveal what's underneath. Kazuma is touching the hilt of his saber, symbolic of showing Ryuunosuke his new resolve.

Kazuma also has a complicated expression on his face, hopeful and apologetic and loving and desperate. He's down on one knee, his face close to the second button. However, from the expressions on the faces and the grief in portrait this is not a marriage proposal.

It was an apology. Who else could have painted the portrait? Kazuma, afraid of screwing up his words in front of Ryuunosuke, decided to use the painting to show he understood.

If you're interested in how the text differs between the languages, or just want to have all the text in the game in one place, this resource is for you!

A couple of ways:

It includes a full Japanese transcript as well as the English one

You can expand all collapsible boxes with the click of a button to make it easier to find a specific line in a case!

Dialogue is separated by text box

It includes text that isn't as easy to find on the wiki, such as transcriptions of evidence like autopsy reports, and Susato's and Iris's comments on the locations you visit in the "Move" menu.

No ads! (that's a plus, right? 😅)

Went into this one fandomblind - and so worth it! Incredibly well and vividly written. The ending is horror at its peak. Deliciously harrowing.

Went into this fandomblind. An incredibly touching portrayal of grief and its effect. Wonderfully written, and in a soothing way.
