"It can't be a WE problem?"
"Tiny little bones. How could she pick up anything with bones that tiny?"
secunit, I hate to inform you, these are the cutest sentences to ever bless my eyes
about that new murderbot book
I literally had to put the book down for a minute because this little huge detail keeps replaying in my brain
— The Tyranny of Faith by Richard Swan.
I'm nine chapters into The Tyranny of Faith and enjoying Vonvalt's very valid crashout, but something that has bothered me so far is the implications regarding the development of his relationship with Helena, more specifically the direction it's taking.
I really thought that after that very unfortunate moment in the first book (which she quite literally said she was thinking of Vonvalt while having sex with someone else), and the subsequent events that led to some emotional damage, this unsavory crush would be dismissed. but alas, that’s not what happened, in just these few chapters we had at least two moments where other characters insinuated (more like teasing but still there in the text) that the nature of their relationship may become romantic. and then there was that very uncomfortable (to me) scene in her bedroom that thanks to Nema was cut short. And the worst part is that, after all that, yet another character makes a comment about her being "Vonvalt's daughter" or some shit like that and i was immediately thrown off. like, wtf???
It's starting to seem like the author has absolutely no idea how to handle this relationship or where to take it, and that sucks because their mentor-apprentice dynamic is one of my favorite parts of the book and it works so well! And I really hope this relationship remains platonic and that this strange tension between them ends soon, because I'm already feeling uncomfortable with the insinuations, considering he's kind of "adopted" her. I don't know if I could continue reading the series, or at least feel connected to it, if this ridiculous plot actually happens.
just watched the movie Eternity and i strongly believe that that is actual hell for indecisive people, that is the bad place fr. god, i could never!

So, I started reading "The Dragonbone Chair” with my friends from the book club and I'm really enjoying it so far.
“You had to die, and I had to watch you, and then I had to wipe your blood from my hands and make sure it had been worth it.
Did I consider refusing? Did I imagine crawling to your bier and lying down beside you among the flowers, so that a thousand years from now they would find our bones so intermingled it would be impossible to tell which were mine and which were yours, and no one would care, because no one would know our names?
Of course. But I had sworn to you that your name would be remembered, and though I was a coward and a deserter, though I had broken every trust and faith, I found I could not break yours.”

Finished reading Witch King the other day and tbh it is absolutely iconic the way it ends with "oh btw there's been a giant international political drama happening this whole time but I, Kaiisteron, Demon Prince and one of the people most deeply involved in the creation of this political alliance spent the last 10 years setting things up so it'd deal with itself, and I was absolutely not going to go back and make sure my decade of planning worked out, because I was too busy finding my bestie/other bestie's wife."
Martha Wells, the author that you are.
