A Few Headcanons to Ease The Ache I Feel From Not Getting A Glimpse of the CS Baby:
(and, to disclaim, I liked the storyline, the way they exited. I just wish we had gotten some parent!CS! goodness! But I guess that’s what fanfiction is for, right?)
~ when they get back to their house after that portal jump, the first thing Emma gets is a long, long lecture about how she shouldn’t have come, how he told her to rest, because by gods she’s carrying their CHILD and she needs to be safe at all times. (The second thing she gets is a foot massage.)
~ Killian already talks to the baby, even though Emma tells him the baby can’t hear him yet. He snuggles his face up to Emma’s tummy and whispers. His beard tickles Emma’s belly button.
~ At their first ultrasound, Killian cries. Like, a lot.
~ They decorate the nursery together. Killian insists on building the crib all by himself. Emma hushes her father’s insistence to help his son-in-law.
~ Killian insists the baby is a girl from the beginning. So when they find out that it is, Emma is surprised at how nervous he gets. Later, when she asks him about it, he says, “I just can’t believe there will be a lass in this world that I love as much as you.” Emma smiles, and brushes his hair back, and kisses him. And then she says gently, “Well, you best get ready, pirate. Cause my bet is you’ll love this lass even more than you love me.”
~ Killian always, always has his hand on Emma’s belly. Like, always. So imagine his reaction when he feels a kick for the first time. Just imagine.
~ When Emma is 8-months pregnant, she accidentally knocks a lamp over in the nursery and it shatters. This results in her having a full-fledged breakdown that unearths her insecurities about raising an infant. Killian rushes to her side, pulls her into his arms, carries her to bed, and spends the evening comforting her and assuring her that she’ll be the best mother in the world.
~ When the baby is born, the delivery goes smoothly. After the tiny little thing gets placed on Emma’s chest, she doesn’t want to let her go. She’s scared to hand her to a nurse or a doctor, even to clean and weigh her. Killian speaks softly in her ear, soothes her worries, and promises her that he won’t let the baby go. That calms Emma down, and she hands her husband their brand new teeny daughter. He falls instantly, instantly in love.
