How can we live authentically, if we are forced into lies?

I never thought my heart could break over anything but love, but I find it cracking slowly. It's so familiar. The ache in me feels like starvation...starvation of my sanity. But this is not love, so how can it be? Or perhaps this is a new kind of love that I can not see.

I see myself as a Judy Garland from a parallel universe who never got that deal at MGM because she was just alright at singing and ended up just becoming an alright wife and mom who secretly just wants to be a sexy European badass in heels and a pant suit.

wake up in the morning

don't wake up 

eyes half way shut

and your there 

and you see them

and it’s beautiful

colored papers littering the floor

smiles curling and bending

and then this wash of disappointment hits

like all the others before

and you won't quite be sure why

until you remember last year’s christmas

and the one’s long past

and how they never will be how

you hoped they be

sitting in front of the fireplace

with a cup of steamy chocolate

and heart filled with happiness.
