The au in my head was of one where it wasn’t just repressed magic that caused an obscurus but rather repressed emotions in general that forces its magic to turn “rotten” essentially from the inside

Would the fact he used a broken wand for a year, and a hand me down a year before that make it worse? The only obscurus I can remember seeing in canon is Fanatsic Beasts, which was caused by just repressing magic due to seeing it as evil, so maybe due to Ron seeing himself as "lesser" is puts extra strain on it?

(Or maybe include that one headcannon of him being a seer, which is the magic he's repressing on top of the rest of the emotions?)

Would this lean into Weasley Family bashing (not that I would likely even write it as true bashing)? aka leaning into the dysfunctional aspects of their family dynamics to add to why Ron's developing said obscurus?

Oh I had my au as him generating it prior to hogwarts, and because it had not expanded into a full obscurus by the time he got a wand which only furthered his discontent, eventually, it would almost be like a living shadow latched on his back, feeding off of his insecurity.

Not so much telling him and encouraging his insecurity but rather like a living defense mechanism that takes all of his hurt emotions and tells him how it’s not right or fair how he’s being treated. Eventually the use of his incompatible wand isn’t needed and just used for appearances bc his obscurus manifests into like an active consciousness. Watching from the shadows and and “consuming” him and turning him into the black cloud monster as it did credence in the event of Ron’s life being in mortal peril.

I also had it so that Ron’s emotion that birthed his obscurus was his feelings of inadequacy/insignificance.

Not so much Weasley bashing but rather critical of the clear emotional baggage and familial/social issues and dynamics taking place
