[Sometimes he literally has… no idea what Allie is talking about. It’s like she’s… smart and introspective and considerate, but she also lives on this… whole other world. In this whole other reality where she makes up her own rules and content and other people sort of have to go along for the ride because whatever goes on in her head only half-makes sense—or half makes it out, communicated to the people around her. The rest just… festering and making her feel… whatever she feels, bottled up enough that no one can really talk her out of it.
Not that she should be talked out of how she feels but… Christ.
So it’s when she says ‘if you’re going to walk away’ that he sort of pulls a face—but he manages to bite his tongue until she finishes with her scpheal—because so far, it seems like that’s the best tactic with her.]
Okay… first of all… walk away? Dude, what the hell is wrong with you? [It’s said with energy, but without heat, and he makes a point of lowering his voice because… yeah, this isn’t a conversation she wants heard by everyone, obviously.] What makes you think I’d walk away because you’re… Infected? I’m Infected, remember? I’m not an asshole or a reformists, obviously so… why would I do that?
[Sometimes he wonders if she actually has that little faith in people, or in how people will treat her, or if she says things like that because it will get her attention. Trigger people into coddling her, and saying how they could never do that to her, because the truth is she needs the reminder, to hear that kind of validation, but is too afraid to ask for it out right.
But he sighs, pushing down any frustration he feels because ultimately… this is big news. And the frustration is harmless, anyway. The kind you feel for a friend who just won’t listen to much needed advice, or a sister who keeps getting speeding tickets or… yeah, whatever.] Seriously? [He’s sort of still processing it…] Like, as in they don’t know? The Colony? How did you even get away with that?
he’s talking. she wants to listen- but the little emotional tornado in her subsides. On paper the situation would sound good, favorable even! yet having the circumstance come to light... is unsettling. The blonde notices almost immediately before sitting back up, green eyes wide and taking him in.}
Somethings wrong. { it appeared that the few left surrounding them had decided to leave for the night, maybe they had felt awkward. It only made sense for Allie to focus on the negatives of the situation, considering anxiety rose within her at her sensitivities being... well... gone. not to mention something about his wording hurt her. and being left with just her own feelings felt distastefully unusual.}
What the hell is wrong with me? { The word choice feels all the worse considering she can’t read him at all. God, it sounds like the disappointment from her father. ‘Allie, what the hell is wrong with you! Why can’t you just be like your fucking mother?!’. Green eyes become distant. There’s a sense of tension between them, and it was her fault! Maybe her infection was the only good thing she had going for her. She stands up, anxiety trickling in. The worst thing about having ‘it’ be unregistered? no training. no one to talk to, really. Other than Mouse. and that meant no one to run to now that it had left a gaping hole in her. }
That’s not what I meant, i’m sorry. { there’s a pause. The conversation is strange to continue. Allie hadn’t actually become comfortable talking about her infection, considering she had to be so quiet about it on the daily and now... without being able to read him...well that only made her feel all the more uneasy. She trusted Adrien, but did she really even trust herself? } Is yours still... working? I can’t..mines...it’s gone. It’s gone.
I’m scared. and it’s made things a bit... weird lately. So.. to be honest, I don’t know how no one’s noticed. I’ve always been pretty emotional, maybe that’s why. Hell, I didn’t even realize until Mouse basically told me he knew I was an Empath. then it all sort of clicked, I guess.
