For those of you that remember, she and I did this original US tour together 10 years ago when we both released our first solo albums. 10 years later I am releasing my 2nd album just as she is celebrating her incredible and incomparable first. She and I have really come full circle and it is truly heart melting for me she chose me to be a part of this with her. I can’t believe I made another album and I also can’t believe I’m about to start playing it out! I’m so excited the first show before I hit the road gets to be in Philly... I wrote and recorded the entire thing in my teenage bedroom (uptown!) So it’s only right my hometown hears it first! When life or people really ain’t shit, Santi, you are THE shit. You pick me up when I’m down, encourage me and guide me... help me stay sane and healthy, help me keep things in perspective. You’ve helped me heal and grow through a lot over the years and you always find a way to be there even when you have 10 trillion things of your own to deal with. I am a lucky woman to have so many people who give me unconditional love and support and it feels good that you are on that list and in my corner. All while making me smile and laugh endlessly! Behind the Music Fact: last June after rehearsing for the John Prine Tribute for the Eaux Claire Festival I met legends and all around good people, @mouseonmars_official at April Base studio and @spankrockofficial and I came in to try something on a song @blobtower had been working on with them. Justin was coming up with melodies, singing something about a foul mouth... I’m not sure if he was being funny because he knew I might rap on it but he sounded cool and the sentiment made me laugh and gave me a good jumping off point! When I went to write my part I was already a little lit from all the celebrating and good vibes of the evening and to be honest I couldn’t even remember today what I did. Almost a year later the song has been reimagined to include Zack Condon of Beirut and I must say @mouseonmars_official made it magical! Thank you so much to everyone in that room that night! There was such a great energy I’m sure the entire album they made will be incredible. It was all very fun and very inspiring... SO on that note I guess I can finally say forreal forreal that I am going to be releasing a new project this year! Im not sure when exactly but we’re wrapping it up now and I am wildly proud of it. It’s my favorite thing I’ve ever done! But to tide y’all over and hear me rap for the first time in a loooong time on another favorite thing I’ve done.. go listen to Foul Mouth by Mouse on Mars!
