Second drawing of Barnaby is my third concept art where I drew characters from Welcome home and connecting them to the characters from Epic the musical ( Odyssey)
Actually, Barnaby was the first one who gave me the idea to do such a thing, but he wasn't my first one in the end, but my third, lol… I immediately noticed him in the role of Hermes from the musical, but still had doubts whether he was suitable for this role.. There were two candidates, Howdy and Eddie, but Eddie was only on the selection list since he is a postman, delivers all sorts of parcels and letters, and Hermes is also doing a little bit of this, he distributes messages.. But they didn't fit the character at all, so he fell off, but Howdy could fit, but I was too attached to the image of Barnaby, who acts as a kind of strange friend who likes to tease, plus Wally and Barnaby are close friends according to canon, so in the end they chose him.
Hermes often had wings on his head, but I didn't want to remove the ears or make wings for them, so I combined them and got two in one, these are both ears and wings at the same time.
Hermes was also often mostly depicted not fully dressed, which also suited Barnaby, since he often does not wear the lower part of his clothes, but only up, plus they added a little raggedness to emphasize the small headcountry (or maybe it is? ) That Barnaby is a slob. They also added teeth and claws, why? I don't know, it's cool.
His bag looks like a ball with a shoulder strap, and inside is a bottomless thing that contains literally everything, from the news he delivers to random things and junk. And the staff (?) which Hermes has, I've transformed a bit and it's at the end… A hot dog. Why? Because Barnaby likes hot dogs! (a bit ironic considering he's a beagle—)
