The sanctuary had made some progress and Yu seemed to be dedicating his life to this old barn. There wasn’t much else to do on these islands except slowly await the apocalypse. He could go out and make friends and enjoy all the goats have given them…but something told him the cats made better social links.

The number of cats that had gathered at the barn had increased, so his little investigation team had plenty of friends to play with. In terms of humans, however, it was just him and Blossom.

Yu wasn’t sure how far this stranger was willing to go to help, but anything could be helpful at this point–even if it was just having someone to play with the cats while Yu tried to work on finishing this place. He could at least ease this guy in and see if he stayed. “Sure.” The cat toy that Yu was previously using to play with the cats was held out to the other. “Want to play with them?”

The small mob of cats await your answer eagerly.

‘Um yeah.. .. sure I’ll play with them.’ As Anzo responded, his own cat mewled from his jacket, crawling up and out to poke his head and say hello. It didn’t take very long at all for Sir Meowrco to finish climbing the rest of the way out and land on all fours, greeting the majority of the felines with a few sniffs.

‘Hope you don’t mind that I brought my own cat along..’ A quiet mutter as he finally took the cat toy in his hand and laid it on top of a few of the felines. Their playful meows as they pounced at it bringing a very gentle smile to his face.

Birds and cats. They don’t get along, and one chases the other. It was a bad idea to begin with, putting someone who was so up-beat and happy nearby someone who was so grouchy and all around hated everyone and every thing...

“Hey... You’re like.. in my way.” Anzo always loved expressing how pissy he could be, to anyone and everyone. A delicate kid like this didn’t make any difference to him, even if he felt a little bit guilty -- it wasn’t enough to change anything.

Anzo may hate people. He may hate vampires. But you know one thing that he doesn’t hate? Cats. And you know what he left at home in Las Vegas? Over a hundred stray cats that lived in his petite back yard. Yes, he has his main squeeze kitty-cat with him but heck, that ain’t enough. Anzo needed his fix, his feline fix that is. And so, after seeing a flier posted up in downtown Ikaika, the short shrimp was now standing in front of the half-fixed run-down barn full of felines.

“...Hey uh.. .. I saw a flier.. .. asking for help for a uh.. .. Cat Sanctuary.. .. um.. .. I’m here.. I guess.. can I help?”

Matt figured he would have a bit more time to actually get to look around before Anzo came storming in and trying to kick him out. Where do kids from this time hide pictures… or maybe a name.. Or something. He should have tried harder to remember the stories of this other vampire he was obsessed with long before the two were an item.. if it even really counts as that. Hoping that Anzo would just walk past this room and ignore the small feline creature and went about but no–

“Sir Meo- Meowrco?” That was… …. some name. He really was not able to properly pronounce that. How was Anzo able to- wait, no.. he was the one who gave the small cat that name. Shaking his head to and fro before he carried on with his search in the room. The light being turned on didn’t bother him as much as it did Anzo, he had been up and out these past few hours.

“Just trying to find the one thing that could very well.. be a clue.” Wasn’t the younger male on his ass this whole time for that very reason? Well.. prior to the whole.. scaring him off some prior weeks ago. “Isn’t that what you wanted?”

With his name having been called the lithe kitten turned on his toes to face Anzo. Cats were always so quick to move so just as Anzo had turned that light on, his household friend was in between his legs. A gentle rub to his calf with a loud purr as an attempt for attention from the raven haired teenager. As loudly as he could, Anzo scoffed in the direction of Matt as he reached down to pick up his faithful companion. A little rub of Sir Meowrco's cheek as he stumbled further in the room, a sense of reality silently thwacking him as he noticed the layer of dust having started to form from only a few months of being left unattended.

"What do you mean a clue?" He asked away, trying to tear his attention away from the elephant in the room. If he continued away at thinking about it he might end up breaking down -- which was far from what Anzo wanted to be doing. Stepping closer to where Matt was searching away at, he knelt down beside him and glanced on inside of the box -- loads of pictures and notes leftbehind in it. A wrenching feeling started rattling away in his gut and it showed as he patted the top of Sir Meowrco's head with a shaking hand. As much as he wanted to find his brother, memories of the past were a rough sight to see.

"... ..Whatever, keep looking.. I've got chores to do." His words were hesitant but as he finally sputtered them out he was standing up and wandering back on out of the room. Shutting the door on behind him, with his body dropping rather slowly to the ground. Meowrco let out a high pitched whine as he finally grew irritated of being held so tightly. Anzo couldn't really find it in himself to let the cat go, instead wrapping him ever closer as he buried his face in the ginger cat's fur.

Being back at his ex’s house was not in the top 4 things to do even some more months after he disappeared… Or if It was to be as Anzo claimed it to be.. Since he was murdered. However, this visit was one that he needed to take. Seeing as the last time that he was here, the younger male made sure to kick him out as fast as he was discovered. Slipping in was easy… rummaging through his stuff was hard.. There really was no telling where Matt would be able to find what he was looking for. The only thing left to do was to dig around.

It had been mere minutes before he could feel a cat meowing about, giving away his current presence. “Shoo.” He said while batting it away. But of course… like the boy who lived here.. Nothing really listened to him. “Be quiet..”

Even if he was riddled with these nightmares, Anzo still had plenty of household chores to start. Dropping out of school seemed to make this a lot easier to handle at least, it allowed him to be able to sleep in for a couple of extra hours instead of being up by 4am to start the day. Hoisting himself out of bed, he started down the hall outside of his bedroom, making his way to the staircase. It was some kind of ungodly ritual with how he stopped at Russel’s door, staring at the bright yellow sign, black stripes bordering it with a bold text stating ‘DO NOT ENTER’. He was certain he wouldn’t be walking in there again any time soon. Not until a sign of his brother was found, and he could make peace with the situation.

As he was about to return to walking down the hall, he heard that all too familiar meow of Sir Meowrco. Furrowing his brows, he realized now that the bedroom door was slightly cracked. Shaking his head, the cat must have pushed his way in there chasing after something. Stepping on inside with a soft sigh, he called out to the feline. “C’mere Sir Meowrco.. you’re not supposed to--” He froze up the moment he spotted Matt’s eyes across the room.

“You’re not supposed to be in here either you bastard!!” Starting with an immediate shout, his hand promptly flipping the lightswitch, the brightness of it a little painful for his eyes but he hoped it would be more effective against Matt. “Get out of here! You’re not allowed to be in here!!”

Every morning had incurred the same routine. Anzo awoke with a nightmare, reliving the moment of Matt holding him down and threatening his life. Surviving with his life doesn’t change the lack of willpower he had in that whole moment, and his mind twisting around with the nightmare didn’t relieve his stress at all. The sight of Matt like that, the icy-cold feeling of his breath and his tongue up against his skin... He couldn’t shake it off.

“Stupid vampire bastard. How am I supposed to go and find my brother now?”

Getting this urge out was the hardest part of the task. Once he managed to get a great sum of it settled, he was rubbing his lips against his sleeves, trying to wipe whatever mess he was able to get. With his head rolling back, he was beginning to think of this little stump he was. It was bound to happen sooner or later.. It is not like the little boy was ever going to believe him about being innocent in that insane accusation.

Matt had figured that the younger male had been long gone since that whole mess and scare. He was taking his damn sweet time to try to mellow out– which it was interrupted once he noticed that he in fact still had his company. Coughing? Water? Surprisingly, he had a bottle of water about. Getting off his bum, the older male went to find the spot that he had left Anzo in. Waiting for him to stop, he offered the bottle.

“You’re still here?”

This was a mess. Maybe after this little exposure… Anzo would keep his distance. “Need help getting home?”

The struggle to breathe was already incredibly hard but with Matt’s presence the lack of air was triple what it was before. As he gasped for it, Anzo stumbled back, crawling for the wall and clinging to it for dear life -- as if that would save his life.

“... G-get away from me...”

Anzo’s voice growled lowly, all the stuttering and traces of fear following suit with his words. This was unfair to him, that he would end up dragged into this supernatural world that he had mostly avoided throughout his life. Humans were first class citizens compared to these despicable monsters and yet, now he had to rely on their help over the humans..

The vampire hadn’t notice that he was still hovering over the younger even after he had warned him off. What was this strange craving of his… Why was he trying to keep him close as he tried to ware him away from himself. Especially in this state that he was in.

Leaning in close one final time, Matt drew a final breathe at the proximity. Anzo’s blood was so alluring, he was wanting to try it– He knew he couldn’t. It has been quite some time since he had last taken blood straight from a warm body. He knew what he would become if it came to it and above all, he knew that he would not know how to go back.

Pushing against the wall, Matt made it so the distance between the two, making it to the kitchen to his stash, Matt was shredding off the package and swallowing it as fast as he could. The taste wasn’t the best but it would suffice if he wanted to hold back these cravings of his.

With the first done, he was reaching for the next, quickly resting against the wall as he began to chug the other. Even if it was a tease, Matt didn’t think that he would be itching to try the younger’s blood. Anzo’s brother certainly didn’t drive him this obsessed with wanting a taste.

Praying to anyone and anything that Anzo would surely stop bothering him over the same old matter.

Time only continued to stand still, with the only sound ringing in Anzo’s ears being that of Matt’s intense breath as he lingered just a little too close and a little too long. The pushing and prodding had ceased on the younger’s end, as he had came to terms that it would not relinquish him from the vampire’s grasp.

Finally, there it was. Freedom, safety. His captor quickly receding to somewhere that the raven didn’t dare attempt to follow. As if he could find it in him to walk as it was, fear crippling his legs and as it all sank in did the rest of his form fall limp. Hitting the ground with a thud and curling in around himself, the trembles in his body had increased in ferocity and as he attempted to reach for a cigarette and a lighter it only ended up with a pocket full of belongings now on Matt’s floor.

Everything around him was beginning to spin in circles, his breaths were uncoordinated and making it an even harder struggle to catch a gasp of air. By now, tears had started to well from their ducts.Leaning forward, he ended up on his knees as his hands fumbled around the ground, clasping on the lighter and one of the scattered cigarettes. Shaking profusely made bringing the cigarette to his lips significantly harder, but somehow he had managed it. Now, his next issue was holding steady enough while lighting it up.

“.... C’mon.. .. j-just l-light already..” Softly mumbling to himself, his voice still laced with a stammer as he flicked at the lighter. His sporadic breathing constantly shutting the flame down before it could even become strong enough to light. Finally, he had managed to hold his breath just long enough to let the flame envelope the white paper.

Dropping both his hand and the lighter back to the ground, he leaned up against the wall and began inhaling the cigarette at a dangerous rate. Before long he was having to spit it out due to a hacking cough. Wishing for relief from his anxiety only worked to counter-attack his plan, and make it worse as now he was suffering trying to inhale in sort of oxygen.

Matt didn’t think of it much when inviting Anzo in to his home. At most, he figured the kid would be stump to see that the place was not as creepy as the exterior would display. The only thought that kept in his mind was getting that bag of blood. He really did need his fix and bad.

However, that did not seem to be what he would be getting any time soon. In his weak state, being knocked to the ground was as easy as it sounded. A fairly loud groan came from the older male, hands fixed on either side of him to keep his head up as he glared at Anzo.

“What on earth are you doing–” The words rolled past his lips with a heavy, sour tone. This little brother is an even bigger pain in his ass than he had been up to this point. Pushing himself up and off the ground and as swift as he could pull it off, Matt was pressing Anzo as firmly as he could. Which, it could be better.

“Do you really think if I had anything to do with it I would have let you live this long?” His voice stirred, lips hovering to his neck, using every little bit to hold back from trying to take a little taste. “Especially since I’m the monster you claim that I am?” His question was asked with a teasing lick to the younger’s neck.

It didn’t take long for him to regret it. A strong, tingling feeling filled his mouth. The strong urge to take a bite and feed on that warm fresh blood. These moments of hesitating were starting to feel like an eternity when in reality they were merely seconds. Doing his best to try and hold back that urge, it was torture. Inching ever so much closer, the itching feeling to pierce his skin were showing.

“You should leave..”

How everything changed in such a quick instant. It was in-explainable to a mere person, how swiftly Matt’s motions were. What had taken him seconds longer to move, and even force all his weight into in order to tackle the older man down, had backfired in a mere skip of a breath.

Fear of one’s life is a normal defense mechanism for any person, and as much as Anzo wanted to push back on Matt he was paralyzed by the sudden change of personality his brother’s ex had. Thoughts of this being the end, that he was never able to discover what happened to his brother, leaving his mother behind -- they all passed through his mind.

With palms clammy and shaking convulsively, he pressed them against Matt’s chest. Pushing weakly at him to get off and let him go. “...L-Let go..” His voice stammered, laced with the panic that he was currently afflicted by.

Protesting had gotten him nowhere with how entranced Matt was over the strong scent of blood. At the icy feeling of his tongue sliding across the sensitive skin on his neck, Anzo was murmuring a hushed moan. The touch a strange combination of disturbing and pleasurable (why was that a zone he enjoyed being touched...? stupid body,) had him confused and ushering another push at Matt.

“... .. S-Stop it.. Don’t act like this is a game... ..Filthy bloodsucker..!” Another stutter in his speech, the shake in his body twice as prevalent as it was prior to his skin being teased as a meal to the other.

“... ... Get off me then... and I will....”
