akatskee:
Itās a way to make the atmosphere around them more familiar, at least for him: he needs something to hold on, while he tries to get accostumed to that place - Eichiās home is already such a change, even if the forniture still makes it similar to his beach house, in a way. Well, with a bit of imaginationā¦
He follows his childhood friend down the hallway, stopping with him, and tilting his head a tad, shoulders dropping as he slowly start to relax; apparently, even though most the time Eichi is source of stress, more than of calm, at the moment he is the best thing he could have around. (liar, he would be in any case, but thereās no need for him to tell this outloud).
āItās not like I can forget something like that, you know.ā He retorts, taking a look around - for how long will that be Eichiās place, anyway? (will they ever be able to get back to their old lives?)Ā āEating meat will only help the both of us, so stop looking at me as I was your nanny or something like that.ā
The blond looks astonished for a moment, moving to lean against one of the dining chairs and press his hands onto the ledge of the table. "Oh, I never intended to treat you like my nanny." He retorts with a blink, "On the contrary, aren't you the one who's specifically tending to my diet now that I have no maids to do so?"
Eichi will make a call out post just for you, Keito.Ā
Bullied me as a kid.Ā
Bullies me now by not letting me do anything for myself or do any work.Ā
'I'll let you fall into hell'.Ā
That time you pointed your bow and arrow at me in front of the tea club.
Ā Five-- well, the list goes on, really. In comparison to whatever his childhood friend could come up with for the Emperor's bad deeds, it's shallow, but it works for him.
"Anyway, the kitchen is yours. I'd ask if you wanted a beverage of some sort, such as tea, but you're already going to be handling utensils. I'm sure you'd scold me if I bothered to lift the pot."
theburningred:
āI guess it is kind of cute, huh?āĀ āCute,ā he says, but that concern is still there. This is Solitude weāre talking about. Solitude. You know, the place where you could be getting groceries and suddenly find yourself in the middle of a fight between superpowered people. Itās hard to believe that this place would take anything ferocious and make it less so.
There was no sense in acting over-concerned as long as it was like this, though. He would simply have to smile and give his usual enthusiasm while hoping for the best.
āItās nice to meet you! Letās try to have fun today and be friends from now on!ā
"I'm glad you agree. I'd like for us to all be friends while we enjoy the hot springs." The Chimera seems to fail in acknowledging either of them, busy tearing the clasp back and forth, gripping with the lion head and furthering its journey down to the other side of the zipper with the goat head. The image itself is funny to watch, although a little disturbing in that it... still has two heads, no matter how you look at it. Three, if you count the snake head whipping around from the tail.
Truth be told, because there are three different beasts melded into one, as a chimera is, he hasn't thought of a name for it yet. The lion head reminds him of an old friend, but he can't really name him after that one, can he?
"Chiaki," Eichi sounds hesitant at first. "Would you help me think of a name? I'm usually rather creative with things like this, but he does not seem to enjoy--" Puns. "-- my choices."
theburningred:
āAre you threatening me? I mean, itās not very big, so thatās not really intimidating, butā¦ā
It came from this island, right? It could be anything at all and potentially do anything at all. Chiaki wouldnāt be shocked if the little thing could grow to the size of a skyscraper at will. Still, Eichi seemed pretty happy with it, didnāt he? Happy enough to give that scary smile. The chimera could burn down a forest and probably be less intimidating than its new friend.
āI guess itās fine. Can I say hello to it?āĀ
"I wouldn't say it's a threat. I reckon he's just a little hungry since he keeps chewing on my bag." He gestures to the chimera now wildly feasting on the zipper, tugging it back and forth while hanging onto the edge for dear life. It's an adorable sight, if one cut out the fact that traditionally, these were fearsome creatures and not a mere six inches tall. Then again, Eichi may still find a regular sized chimera pretty cute, depending on the behavior, so he doesn't sweat the details.
Nonetheless, he lifts his bag up to is chest, trying to put the small beast on a higher level to be properly introduced.
"You can greet him, then." He chimes, shifting everything into one arm so he can poke at the tiny head. "Now now, behave."
akatskee:
As if Eichi could be really feel hurt by something like that - itās the truth, after all, and if Eichi has survived this whole time having him by his side, he is pretty sure he can endure this as well. He enters the house and the first thing he does is taking his shoes off, leaving them at the entrance (as if they still were in Japan - old habits are so hard to die).Ā
āSorry for intruding,ā he then says, taking the first steps inside that unknown place - surely that house reminds him of those huge beach houses back in his hometown, and this makes it even harder to split the two things. Itās not a bad thing, though. It makes him feel protected, somehow.Ā āNikujaga,ā he answers, as he follows him through the hallway,Ā āI thought you would want to eat something with volume,ā and he wonders if Eichi knows that heās unintentionally implying that heās a bit concerned about his nutrition.
Sure, Eichi has nerves of steel not only from having a childhood friend like Keito, but also from just generally existing. Constantly being told you were going to die and then being told to die by other people left to at one advantage: gaining an iron heart. He supposes that much has melted away given recent events, but all in all, he's barely phased by insults of any kind anymore - especially not from the man heading inside his home.
(His home. It feels weird to think.)
But as being with his beloved right hand has left him in emotional tip top shape, to an uh, extent, it has also made Keito extremely predictable. He could have gone without mentioning the reason for the dish, but naturally, he has to say something that implies he's treating him like a child again. The Emperor casts him a flat stare, closes the door, locks it, and then leads him into the kitchen.Ā
"I'm glad you remembered how much I like meat." Eichi responds with a hint of slyness, stopping in the middle of the room. "Very high in protein."
theburningred:
Since he had arrived, Chiaki had made it an important goal of his daily life to keep an eye out for his friends and regularly spend time with them. The same could be said for any time before heād arrived on Solitude, but here, there was always a threat lingering around somewhere. It had become even more important. That said, of course heād extend an invitation for Eichi to come enjoy theĀ hot spotsĀ of Makana Island (haha).
Something was a little strange though, wasnāt it? There was more company than he expected.
āUmm, Tenshouin, what is that exactly? Itās good that youāre making new friends, but you arenāt carrying around suspicious creatures, are you? There might be laws against that.ā
Are there any laws on this island?
Chiaki didn't look as spirited as he often did, which actually amused him to an extent. Of course, the source of that uncertainty was the tiny little animal in his bag, courtesy of an egg he'd been entrusted with and left to raise. As someone with no pets back home, and as a rich kid who had trouble looking after himself apparently, Eichi didn't know a thing or two about looking after a bite sized chimera, but they had clicked rather well.
Besides, if there were laws on this island, heād yet to come across anyone enforcing them.
"Fufu, there's no need to discriminate, Chiaki." He hums with an air of antagonism, but as usual seems pretty innocent looking, "I'm sure he can come inside, can he not? After all, he's a member of the Tenshouin family now. I want you to pay no mind to him, or he may bite you."
@theburningredā & the not-so-burning springs
Itsuki Shu had once told him to go and drown in one of Japan's seven pools known for their high temperatures, so much that they had even been compared to hell. They were, in fact, named like this, and Eichi told himself that he'd visit said place just to spite him at one point, but traveling was always a difficulty for him, so he'd never gotten around to that. Fortunately, being on these islands grants him very littleĀ choice when it comes to traveling, given that it's a must to get between the Community Center and his home or Yuzuru's. This time, however, he's visiting Chiaki and the hot springs at once, which is ticking something off his bucket list and hanging out with a friend.
Then again, the emperor is unsure as to whether or not his bucket list counts much anymore.
Apparently, residents of Makana Island have some free pass into the hot springs, and he'd been cordially invited to sink himself in one thanks to said ex-hero, so here he is, waiting on him with a little friend sitting in his bag. Also waiting.
akatskee:
He wants to groan, yes, but he just shakes his head, wrinkling his nose when he meets his eyes. Oh, he liked the litte detour he had to take to come there, but he would have prefered better if he decided to do that on his own, rather than because of the difficulty to find his house among a⦠lot of other houses that barely looks different for Eichiās. He gives a fast look at his friend, and his feature soften a bit, meeting a fresh smile - he looks quite well, today, so he guesses he can leave any retort for another time.Ā
āTwo old women helped me find the way. On the other hand, your infos were a bit⦠how can I say. Oh, yes. Useless.ā He shakes the bag on his hand in front of his childhood friendās nose.Ā āNow, let me in, or Iāll make you starve.ā
Awww, and here he thought he'd given him such crucial information. It's not Eichi's fault that every single beach house looks practically uniform in the area, so the picture he'd send might have been a little useless, but overall, Keito saying it out loud hurts his feelings.
Not really. But he plays on it.
"How mean..." He feigns curiosity, tilting his head like a child who has no idea that they've done anything wrong. When the bag rises to his face, he's taken aback and snapped out of that, instead frowning ever so slightly, but he can't smell much of what's in there given it's likely frozen, and takes a step back to open the door further. "What are you going to make?"
gxardianangel::
āSo many things, so little time, right?ā A laugh; Sheās not picking up on any awkward atmosphere but is trying to be as friendly as possible naturally, āThough, I am still settling in here regardless. Should you come over again, Iāll have this place cleaned up for you.ā
āThatās an interesting accusation to make. But, you may be right.ā Angela shrugs, sipping from her coffee, āMy expertise was primarily practiced on the battlefield, or in places where emergency help was needed but no hospitals were close by. Iāll let you claim this much~ā
"I don't find it to be necessary." He draws his eyes away to judge the tiny piles of work, an attempt at cleaning done on the behalf of someone who was rushing after all. "As long as you can do your job, the state of your work area is hardly an issue. An organized mess, as some geniuses call it, are optimal for their work flow.ā And more often than not, a lot of the people he knew whom were prodigies in their time, were messy.
"The battlefield?" That's right, apparently she was no normal doctor, or something like that, but his interest peaks within his voice - a small inflection near the end. "You make yourself sound like quite the cleric, rather than a practitioner."
@fiinay
He looks at the piece of paper a thousand time, as he waits for the ferry to dock, the pier approaching faster than he thought. He sighs, reading the address again, as if he was afraid to forget it - at least, if he got lost he wouldnāt have lost too much time asking here and there where his destination was. Another sigh follows, as he folds the paper and puts it on the pocked of his jacket, throwing a look outside the ferry and losing himself for a moment in the colours of a sky thatās turning darker each second, the first stars shining in a canvas of pink and purples that fades into dark blue as he lifts his head to the center of the sky. Mh. The ferry shakes for a moment, someone complaining about the scarce delicacy of the sailors - assuming that someone is actually holding the wheel - but itās not his problem now, not when he finally steps on safe grounds again and he can see the slight nausea fading off as he starts to walk.Ā āYou should find it easily,ā Eichi texted him not long before he left his home, providing a picture of his accomodation, but it takes a bunch of minutes and some information provided by complete strangers, before he finally finds himself in front of it. Looks quite fitting for his friend, huh.
He rings the bell, waiting for an answer on the other side. The bag on his left hand is kind of heavy, but hopefully he will get free of it in a minute.Ā
In terms of how luxurious it looked, it came rather close to whatever kinds of beach houses his parents owned back home. The thing was that Eichi barely visited them unless they only looked like a beach house, and were not all that close to the shore. This kind of settlement, however, was practically on the very edge of the sea, and on a good morning, he was able to practically step outside onto a small dock and sit with his feet in the water. On bad days, AKA 3/7 days of the week, he pretty much had to leave the house just to avoid the sea breeze drowning him with too much air. Much more than his weak lungs. Sigh.
But today was alright, so he invited Keito over for a good time - to make him food, yes, but a good time nonetheless. When he opens the door, he's cheerful in his approach, smiling merrily. "Was it hard to find?"
Thereās a hint of mischief in his tone.
akatskee:
Itās a loud groan, what leaves his mouth - perhaps he really isnāt taking this thing that well, and now that heās starting to find at least the strength to balance himself on his own two feet his mind races to his family, when Eichi speaks those words. It would be great, if he could at least let someone know that he is fine.
Well, fine. Still alive, at the moment. Eichiās words arenāt giving him much hope about what it might happen now that they are in that unknown place.Ā
āI wonder if we just disappeared on⦠our world,ā itās strange, phrasing it like that, but he really doesnāt know how he should put it. Meanwhile, for probably the first time in a while heās following Eichiās steps like a chicken with his mother hen, worrying only about to look himself around and grasp as much as possible of the new enviroment heās probably living in for a long time.Ā āSake of entertainment? It doesnāt sound tempting, more like we ended in some kind of dystopic game.ā He has never thought of ignorance as a blessing, and being on the side of those who donāt know what on earth is happening makes him feel awfully uneasy.Ā ā⦠did you meet someone else? From our⦠world?ā
"That really would be a problem..." The medical bills for his family would probably be non-existent on his own end, at least, so that's a good thing, but it's not as though they had much of an issue with that given their wealth in the first place. It suddenly dawns upon him that he did not ask about health costs here, and considering their riches seemed not to carry over, that might pose an issue. However, that's besides the point Keito is bringing up, which he rolls back to. "My father would be without a heir, after all... I can hear him complaining already."
The blond spares a glance back to his childhood friend after listening to the pace of his steps, a hesitancy in them that he never expected much from Keito. Truth be told, he's only much bolder now because of his general personality - most of his life has been spent dealing with emergency after emergency, so a lot of shock factor goes over his head.
"That's what Chiaki said." Eichi smiles, looking ahead again now that they've reached a pavement instead of sand. "I don't think it's like that. There's a civilization here, and all, so I doubt we're in a dystopia."
theburningred:
At least Eichi had the decency to attempt to pretend he wasnāt upset about it, but Chiaki would be lying if he said he wasnāt pretty hurt by the reaction he receivedā which meant, of course, that he would definitely lie. He nearly ended up raising his voice again, an instinctive response to any negative feelings, but he managed to catch himself this time. Good job, Morisawa! Nice save!
āIt wonāt be exactly like old times, but maybe it can still be fun. Iāll try to make sure itās a place where you can be comfortable.ā
Upon saying that, he was immediately looking out the window again. Ikaikaās shore had come a lot closer now. The trip had seemed so painstakingly slow with him constantly checking their distance.
āWeāre almost there now. Are you feeling alright?ā
"Does 'comfortable' involve pushing me down the hallways in my wheelchair?" He sounds skeptical at first, but there's a lilt at the end, something teasing that's just sort of manifested nostalgia. His eyes join Chiaki in looking out towards the sea, and truth be told, he hasn't exactly been paying attention to that at all. Dizziness forbids him from having any sort of feel for time. It's the air of the waves forcing themselves down his throat that really impacts his lungs, and all of that breathlessness goes straight to his head.
That answers the brunet's question.
"I'm fine." He lies, even though it's plenty obvious and he expects that it looks that way too. "Sitting down has reduced the... movement," Eichi pauses, struggling for words, or a breath, or whatever. "Of everything and anything." That doesn't sound right. "Mobility-- mm, anyway, I feel better than before."

akatskee:
āIt would have been polite not to drag us here without any notice. It isnāt giving me any good vibes⦠not at allā¦ā Hugging his arms is a natural move, hands trying to warm himself a bit as the breeze keeps blowing incessantly.
And oh, it does concern him, at least a bit, that the first place Eichi had to go once arrived on that island was the hospital, but after all itās not something so strange - why nowhere to go, it probably would have been the first choice for him as well.
Oh well, it kind of is.Ā
āI think everybody would to horribly in this case. I am not doing any better, at the moment.ā And somehow he feels like he should just surrender to the fact that no, he isnāt going back home anytime soon, and his shoulders drop a bit to the idea, head shaking to get rid off bad thoughts.Ā āDid you find something about the reason why we are here? It⦠it canāt be meaningless, our presence on this land?ā
"I doubt that giving us notice would really do much? Perhaps we'd be able to say goodbye to our friends and family, but that's not really any different from dying, is it?" Saying that really intensifies the situation, where being back home concerns, but perhaps that's fine with him because he's already thought about the whole farewell speech ahead of time. When he was younger, he'd even written it down on days where he felt particularly bad. Now, he could pick from a selection and neither would really summarize his feelings.
A quick, painless cut is much easier. It may be the reason why he isn't too torn about being dragged off the face of the earth onto another.
"Not particularly." Eichi sighs, peering ahead to track down the building they were supposed to head to. As it was, the large sign was a good help, so it didn't take long for him to set the pointer on their destination. "I've been told it's all for the sake of entertainment, but the information I've had relayed to me so far as been pitifully nonsensical. I'm having a hard time believing it myself, which is why I'm sparing you the pain until it's confirmed where we're going."
twilightxmaster::
āThe gods, hm? I fail to find any reason they would deny my being closer to aid you.ā Thereās a point in which theirĀ āpranksā go fromĀ āgood funā toĀ āok, you can stop being assholes nowā, and letting someone who needs aid go without seems far too cruel⦠Right?
āWorst case scenario, I do not mind waking up early to prepare you for your day; I believe we are on separate islands after all so I will need to take morning commute into consideration when looking after you.ā Ferries are only so reliable, and the ocean is a lot worst to traverse than a road would beā¦
"I'm not sure what to expect from them anymore." Eichi laughs, although there's very little humour in the fact that they'd plopped him on a sea-based island with a condition like his own. They must have known, which really only leaves the idea that they're cruel assholes.
He can relate to that.
"I don't think it's necessary for you to come over every morning. I'm perfectly capable of waking myself up." Breakfast is another matter, but he doesn't want to obstruct Yuzuru's own life too much. Surely, cooking cannot be that hard? And there is such a thing as cereal, which shouldn't be too hard to prepare in the morning. "Meeting in the afternoon once you've attended yourself is fine, don't you think? More than anything, I'd simply like your company."
theburningred:
āAh- Whoops⦠Itās just that, in this sort of situation especially, as soon as I stop thinking about it, I become loud again. Right, so Iāll just have to thinkĀ ākeep your voice downā over and over. Stay quiet, Morisawa, you absolutely have toā¦!ā
He said these words, mostly to himself, while making a pose with a clenched fist, as though he were some cartoon superhero giving a speech of determination to himself. In other words, it was likely heād have to be reminded again soon. At least the ridiculousness of his actions provided a smooth transition from the tense subject they had been discussing before.
āIāll work on it, since⦠When youāre sick, youāll probably see me a lot. Iāve been working at the hospital, so Iām usually around there.ā
Nothing could prepare Eichi for the utter mortification that one sentence could give him. He met Chiaki in a stare, silent and cautious, as if scanning his every facial feature for some tell tale sign that he was pulling his leg - the twitch of a brow, eyes diverting, the tip of his lip quivering, anything. Yet, nothing came and it finally hit him that the hero was being completely serious, again.
Eichi wasn't sure what was worse. The island, or Chiaki working at a hospital he would probably be in constantly.
"Ah," he defeatedly murmurs, bringing his hands to his locked knees, looking clearly uncomfortable as his shoulders hunch and his eyes can't bring themselves to look at his former classmate now that reality has set in. Something in his brain - kindness, likely - attempts to filter out anything that implies this is more of a nuisance than a relief, because it's not like he doesn't enjoy Chiaki's company, just... not in a hospital.
"Like old times, hm?"
That'll do.
gxardianangel:
āNo need to be so formal. Feel free to call me Angela, or Mercy; Most people call me the latter.ā She giggles as she brings over a fresh mug of coffee, little cups of cream and sugar packets follow suit all stacked in a small bowl.
āI apologize for the messā We had an⦠Incident recently and Iāve been a little too busy to clean up.ā Even if itās just papers stacked in several piles on her desk, itās just politeness she apologize for that much.
āYes, yes, I heard a bit about you from Chiaki. You seem to be quite familiar with hospitals, ja?ā She hums,Ā āI can get you a proper consultation later onā Iād also like to ensure our nanotech works positively with your condition.ā
How to tell someone you're not really fond of calling them by their hero name... he certainly didn't feel like exposing his softening dislike of heroes to someone who clearly was one (hypothetically) and all, so he decided against mentioning that all together. "Angela, then." Eichi decides, smiling despite his judgment. Not that he wasn't familiar with judgemental smiling every minute of his life.
"Oh, it isn't a problem. I'm familiar with doctors, you know? They've never been the cleanest people in their own places." Their desks were always a mess for that matter, and well, they often say that a person's handwriting reflects their cleaning habits, so for doctors, there's very little to expect. Setting that aside, he wonders how much Chiaki has filtered out and how much he's actually blabbered on, seeming contemplative in his response.
"Yes, I think I've spent more time in a hospital than you." He chimes.
