*there is a rustle in the rafters, a single beat in the air like a shudder of a heart or the crack of thunder*

it’s not fair…

Celine pauses brushing her hair. Her confused face is reflected in her vanity mirror. She listens. It was a clear night out, no wind or rain to speak of. She knows that she heard something, but the noise doesn’t repeat. The bedroom is silent.

Marc walks in from the bathroom, toweling his hair.

🕯️“Did you hear that?”🕯️

“Hear what?”

🕯️“There was a noise just now.”🕯️

“It was probably an animal, you know how they get this time of year.”

🕯️“No, it was something more…”🕯️

Marc moves to stand beside Celine, bending down to look into the reflection of the mirror with her. He smiles.

“Come now darling, it’s far too late for us to get worked up over a little noise. Like I said, probably an animal of some sort.”

Celine looks unconvinced.

Marc sighs, dramatically rolling his eyes and his shoulders. He moves to wrap his arms around his wife, drawing in close. He tilts his face so it presses against hers.

“If I promise to ask the groundskeeper to take a good look around tomorrow will you come to bed?”

🕯️“I- Yes. Perhaps you’re right.”🕯️

Marc presses a kiss to her cheek before turning to slip into bed.

Celine knows she heard something. And she suspects that Marc might have heard it too.

Super excited to reveal what I’ve been working on the past month! I finally completed my first official bookbinding, featuring the lovely work of Womposaurus on AO3 (with permission, of course)

I’m really proud of how it turned out, and will link the resources I used to create this final product!!

@renegadeguild is an extremely helpful nonprofit that has tons of resources, how-tos, and even a discord server all dedicated towards book binding.

This tutorial by TheLittleKey_BookStudio was my lifeline when trying to make do with what I had on hand, as well as providing step-by-step instructions on the physical making of a book.

The decorative paper and were purchased from The Paper Canopy in Charleston, which I highly recommend to visit if you’re in the area!

Everything else was a mix of old craft supplies that i’ve hoarded, stuff from micheals, and stuff from Staples.
