Personality: Sarah (or Hazel) is a highly gifted girl, with an IQ of 145-155, more or less. Yet, she's not some brainiac robot. She is, like most teenagers... Petty.
Sarah can be sassy, sarcastic, rebellious and bitter, always ready with a witty comeback or retort, sometimes blunt and rude without intending to. She's also, however, compassionate, caring and empathetic, despite her cold, detached exterior. She's resentful of her birth mother for abandoning her when she was little, which made her harden and "toughen up" as a defense mechanism.
Abilities, skills, hobbies: While Sarah's isn't very much a fan of sports, she enjoys swimming and working out to take out her anger. She's learned a few languages during her free time or when she's hyperfocused, as well as learning how to play instruments like piano, violin, and electric guitar.
BACKSTORY
Birth: Sarah was born on October 7, 1988, at 8:28 AM. She was born in a hospital in downtown Washington D.C., and accompanying her mother —Clarice Starling— was Ardelia Mapp, ever the loyal friend, a soul sister to Clarice.
Note: Hannibal was never notified of Sarah's existence. It wouldn't have been possible, anyway, since he had just escaped and couldn't risk any form of contact.
Childhood: For the first few years, everything was fine. More or less. Clarice did her best to raise Sarah, along with Ardelia, who was always there to help where Clarice didn't know what to do, since... While Clarice had not taken care of children since her siblings or the orphanage, Mapp babysat her nephews and nieces every now and then.
But when Sarah was four, for some reason or the other, Clarice decided that she could no longer take care of her, either that or she just focused more on her career. Whatever it was, it didn't matter, because Sarah ended up in the Foster system anyway, always remembering the trauma of being abandoned. She would, for some years, hope to see Clarice come back, maybe saying it was a mistake or that she'd gotten lost: all nothing but childish, naive illusions. Over the course of a year or two, Sarah saw many different foster homes and "families", none of them adequate to properly take care of her.
The State assigned her a therapist, then, at such a tender age, of about 5-6 years old, which would be Bedelia du Maurier. Though this patient-therapist relationship began professionally, Bedelia felt protective of the girl. This, after some time, culminated in Bedelia formally and legally adopting Sarah, with the help of a few acquaintances and former patients.
Ever since, her life has become stable, living in a loving home with Bedelia. She remains, however, one who struggles to make friends, let alone maintain those friendships or make them last.
Teenage years: Sarah's teenage years were defined by staying home during her free time, learning new hobbies and, sometimes, some remote freelance gigs. She doesn't lack anything with Bedelia, but she likes to earn money by herself and buy things for herself and presents for Bedelia.
She, despite the years, has a photographic memory —courtesy of Hannibal's genes— and remembers the abandonment suffered vividly, making her quietly bitter and resentful. However, she hides negative emotions and her darker, more violent or antisocial tendencies behind a mask of composure, and almost of elegance.
She prefers to be quiet, but when she speaks, she is sharp, blunt and able to cut deep. Even so, she prefers to express herself verbally, yes, but through written form. She also expresses herself through the music, especially her eternal rage and sadness.
