Peyton: I'm sure it would be. Is there not one already? I'm surprised, it seems like people around here find any excuse to celebrate! Tell me, is it offensive if I use that day as a chance to test out my Irish accent?

Jane: I mean, I haven't heard of anything so I'm assuming that there's not a campus party yet. There's still some time so who knows? Something might pop up. Um, I don't know if it would be? Would it? Are accents offensive?

Jane: I didn't even know there WAS a rocket launcher, how am I supposed to keep track of it! Where did you even get one?!

Carlos couldn’t exactly place the emotions he was feeling. There were just too many of them like his mind was racing. He was so excited to get to be going on another date with Jane at the same time as he was so nervous to say and do the right things. He wasn’t entirely sure how to do the whole dating thing. Not knowing whether he should’ve brought flowers or not was stressing him out, even after receiving advice from Jay. But whenever she smiled at him it just seemed to make all the worries go away. His own smile would grow brighter, his heart would pound in his chest, his palms get sweaty. Nothing else in the world seemed to exist in those moments with her. Carlos finally looked down at his shoes to finish tying up the shoelaces that took just a little bit too long for him to tie. It was so easy to get distracted by her. Once she stood he got up, holding out his hand to grab hers. He only hoped that they weren’t too sweaty for her, that’d be so embarrassing. “I’m all ready!” Pushing his skate forward, he slowly rolled with her to the rink.

If she were smiling any bigger, her smile would have overtaken her face completely. But she couldn’t help it, whenever she was with Carlos she was just happier, lighter, and the world was just that much brighter. Jane bit down on her lip to try and keep herself from smiling too much longer though, her focus on keeping herself from appearing too nerdy or weird despite the assurances from both Audrey and Lonnie that she didn’t need to worry about anything when it came to Carlos. Another thing she just couldn’t help, she supposed. Her feelings for him just took over and the only thing she could think about was how she had to keep herself from Jane-ing it up and making him like her less. It was amazing how quickly that thought was banished from her mind the second their fingers locked together, and her face was covered once more with a grin. Entering the rink was always a little nerve wracking for her, to Jane it was the hardest part of roller skating since you had to be mindful of everyone else already on the floor, but even that wasn’t an issue with his hand in hers. She felt like she could take on the world if she had Carlos at her side. “Oh, so I heard that the guy in the booth? He actually takes requests for songs! How cool is that? Oh! And they have an arcade in the back, so you know, if we wanted to take a break or anything we could check that out. And the snack bar, they have a huge snack bar!”

Nova: Headbutts can be super cute and affectionate! Have you ever watched The Land Before Time?

Nova: Siiiiiiiiiiigh. Dueling seems so exciting, though! I try to do it with everything, even with french fries at the dinner table.

Jane: But that was more of a head /nudge/ than a headbutt. Like puppies do when they cuddle with you!

Jane: And I'm sure it is! But there's a time and a place, is all! Um, I guess there's nothing wrong with french fry duels though.

Audrey: Its not confusing at all, Janey! If a boy likes you, he'll act like it, and Carlos is definitely giving you the right signs. And oh, it was wonderful! He's exhibiting so many signs that he's ready for the rest of our lives and it's so exciting.

Jane: I don't know, some days I guess I wake up and wonder /why/ he likes me... I'm not confident and stuff like you are. But yay! Sounds like things are just picking up where they left off, huh? That's so great.

Jane: But what if I say something or do something that's like too much and then he doesn't anymore!! That's why I'm so worried about it all the time, I just don't want to mess it up because he's like the greatest person ever and you know, I'm just Jane.

Carlos: They are!!! I don't ever know why anything doesn't have chocolate in it. I mean you know unless it's like stuff that really doesn't go with it.

Carlos: Hand is great! Yeah that makes a lot of sense. It's a lot safer that way anyways!

Jane: Well, really how would you know that it doesn't go with chocolate unless you have it with chocolate! Except that just made me think of chocolate covered seafood so, um, forget I said anything! Yep!

To say that Jane was excited was an understatement; ever since she’d made plans to go rollerskating with Carlos, she’d been on a roller coaster of emotions. Giddy, nervous, anxious, excited, overwhelmed. Even as she tugged on her laces she could feel the pounding of her heart against her chest and the tight knots forming in her stomach. But even the feeling of being sick couldn’t wipe the smile from her face, which only grew bigger as she put her foot back on the ground and looked towards the rink. It wasn’t that crowded, something she was a little glad for. It really made her feel less aware of who was around them, let her focus on the person that actually mattered at the time. But the few who were there were all laughing, another good sign. The last thing she wanted was for either of them to get bored. While she didn’t think there was any activity that she wouldn’t have fun doing so long as it was with Carlos, she wasn’t sure she could say the same went for him. And it would have been awful if he found their date boring. He would probably not want to see her again if he did.... She had to shake her head quickly to get those thoughts pushed from her mind as she cautiously stood up and reached her hand out to Carlos. “Ready to go?”

Carlos: Trail mix is cool too! When it's got the little candies in them. Man candy is so good.

Carlos: Oh don't worry, if you think you might fall you can hold onto me.

Carlos: My arm! Or my hand? Or either one. You know whichever you prefer.

Jane: The chocolates are the best part anyway! I always eat those first and then I'm left with all the peanuts and raisins at the end. Not that I mind either of those things, but they're just not as good if there's no chocolate pieces to go with them!

Jane: Um... hand is good? And, you know, if I'm holding it when we start there's probably less chance of me falling.

Jane: But do you have to be something so scary and violent? You could really hurt someone if you headbutt them like a dinosaur!

Jane: Um, they... probably won't let you do that either, no. I don't think dueling is really encouraged outside of like a supervised settling like ROAR.
