Did I borrow your sweater without returning it again - am I getting the silent treatment, because I’ll find it - I promise, it’s just in my trunk somewhere and we both know how messy that can be!”
“I’m not avoiding you,” Resa said quickly, immediately feeling guilty for the lie. Why did her friends have to make it so difficult for her to distance herself from them? Resa partially wanted to tell them -- Maeve in particular -- what was going on, but she feared it would only make it harder. They wouldn’t see that it was for the better. “I promise, you didn’t anything. I’ve just been busy with school and things -- you know? I do want that jumper back sometime this century, though,” she joked, trying to turn the conversation to something different,
