And like I genuinely am loath to negatively discuss women’s bodies online and I think the way that famous women’s bodies are up for discussion online and in the press is upsetting and dehumanising and I feel a lot of compassion for women who are struggling with eating disorders and body image issues in the public eye however the fucking mass weight loss happening to all famous women either through eating disorders or weight loss medication cannot just go uncommented on. Nearly every single famous woman got skeletal overnight and it is so incredibly worrying both for them and for what it signals to other women and girls about how they should look.

women with eating disorders are victims of a disorder and they can also be perpetrators of their disorders. it’s a cruel, double edged sword. eating disorders ought to be considered as infectious diseases of the mind, imo. this is why it is critical that others be extremely vocal in expressing their distaste with the outcome of the disease, which is a malnourished body. anyone hurt by criticism of a malnourished body resulting from disordered behavior is being hurt because their thought patterns are being challenged - it’s part of the process of unlearning harmful behavior is overcoming that shame associated with feeling like a monster. victims of eating disorders are not evil people. but the disease is so terribly harmful that it must be criticized for being what it is: a disease that is encouraged in women because it makes them more likely to comply with patriarchal ideals of not just beauty, but of controlling the mind and disabling women from reaching their full potentials. that’s why we’re seeing skinny make such a comeback

Did you know that JRR Tolkien wrote an unpublished epilogue to Lord of the Rings? It's achingly, beautifully wistful in the way that only Lord of the Rings is. I revisited it recently because I'm guesting on my friends' LOTR podcast, and THAT reminded me that I drew a comic of the epilogue back in 2021 (all text is entirely canon).
