Not long after sunset had fallen on the beach, the King's Guard returned to report that Prince Liam had been located with Lady Sofia.
“All right, I will go to my son alone.” Constantine said, before personally leaving the Royal tent and strolling towards the sand. The King's Guard did not accompany him, but quickly dispersed around the beach to ensure security.
Constantine watched his son laughing happily and holding the hand of the woman beside him, their hair both still damp. The image reminded him of when he, too, was still a young Prince, often strolling on the beach with Margaret—Leo's mother. Constantine smiled sadly; however beautiful the moment was, it would pass. The King called out to Liam. The couple quickly released each other's hands and bowed to Constantine as he approached them. After a few greetings, Constantine paused thoughtfully:
“Lady Sofia, please pardon us, but I’d like to have a moment alone with my son.”
“Of course, Your Highness.” Sofia replied awkwardly, curtsying to Constantine and Liam.
“I'll find you later, Lady Sofia.” Liam nodded to her before she quickly left, and he followed his father along the beach.
“This year's Regatta is quite interesting, isn't it?” Constantine asked Liam. “I see you're more enthusiastic than usual, considering your previous lack of interest in sailing.”
“Yes, Father,” Liam chuckled. “Sometimes, sailing on a sunny day is quite appealing.”
He pretended to turn his head to watch Sofia's figure in her elegant light blue beach dress receding into the distance. His father nodded in agreement.
“Indeed, it's a good idea to have the ladies of the court sail against each other. They can be just as competitive in sports as they are in other fields.”
“Not to mention that this year the public has shown more interest in the Regatta festival and the positive meaning behind it.” Liam added.
Constantine smiled contentedly and gazed out at the sea. Liam would be a good king Cordonia deserved.
“Father, you said earlier that you would tell me the reason behind your abdication to me sooner than expected…” Liam’s voice brought the old king back to reality.
“Liam, this may come as a shock to you. But I fear I don’t have much time left.”
“What do you mean, Father? What has happened to you?” Liam paused and looked at his father anxiously.
“I… I’ve fallen ill. For the past few months I’ve been having more difficulty breathing, and I get exhausted quickly. I thought it was just old age, but the royal physicians advised a general check-up. The result is… stage 3 lung cancer.”
Liam froze. His eyes widened in disbelief.
“Father, is that true?”
“I would gain nothing by lying to you.”
“Father…” Liam swallowed hard. His throat tightened at this painful truth. “I’m sorry. I haven’t paid attention to your health all this time.”
“Now, now. It’s not your fault, Liam. You’ve been so busy preparing for the throne. It’s I who’s been neglecting my own health,” Constantine said gently.
“But they can cure this disease, can’t they? You’re not in the late stages yet, are you?”
“In theory, yes. I can have surgery to remove the damaged areas in my lungs.”
Liam looked down at the ground, trying to suppress the overwhelming emotion and turmoil in his heart. His King, his beloved father, wasn’t an unshakeable monument. Now, his time with him was dwindling so quickly without him realizing it.
“I’m so sorry, Father. I need you so much in my life. And yet I’ve taken your time for granted.” Liam's voice crackled with emotion.
“I will be with you until the very end,” Constantine said. “However, now more than ever, I need you to be strong to prepare for the throne. You will coronate as soon as the social season ends.”
“Yes, Father.” The prince quickly set aside his personal emotions, responding solemnly.
That evening, during dinner, the king also informed his other son, Prince Leo, who had returned from a trip, about his health. Like Liam, Leo received the news with shock and sadness. But the truth could not be changed. The royal family unanimously agreed to keep Constantine's health a secret from the public, at least until Liam had been on the throne for some time, to avoid public panic and to help stabilize the young king's reign.
After dinner, Liam was talking with Leo when the king's secretary informed him that Constantine wanted to see him in the study. Liam followed the secretary to the west wing of the palace—where the king's study was located.
“Father, I'm here.”
“Liam, I just remembered I should talk to you a little more about your ascension to the throne.”Constantine rose from his desk and pointed to the salon set.
Liam walked over and noticed a sack of dossiers on the table.
“What are these?”
“These are what we're going to discuss.” Constantine replied “Liam, you know the tradition is that every king of Cordonia must be married or engaged before ascending the throne, right?”
“Except for Kendra.”
“She's the reason for this rule. And you'll have to choose your bride at the moment you're crowned, otherwise the public will be concerned about the stability of the throne.”
Liam nodded. He knew the rule well. Previously, kings were required to have an heir before ascending the throne. But times had changed, and with his father's abduction happening sooner than expected, he was fortunate enough to only need to be engaged.
“These are the files on the candidates for your bride – your suitors during this social season.”Liam looked down and saw that each dossier contained the name of a young lady, along with a photograph. He picked up the one on the top and looked at it: Lady Aurelie Chapenoire.
“The royal family has collected everything about them. Their personal details, family history, lineage, health, education, occupation… Even what you call it? Romantic history?”
“Father,” Liam put the file down, frowning, “this really shouldn’t be done. It’s an invasion of privacy and personal information for those ladies.”
“I’m afraid it’s the opposite. All those who pursue you know exactly what to expect when pursuing the future king of a country.”
Liam sighed.
“I can’t read this. They’re not criminals or anything.”
“Liam, you should feel fortunate that you have the privilege to choose your bride, not a political marriage. For the sake of national interests, you must do what needs to be done. That is, choose the most suitable person from these.”
Faced with his father’s insistence, Liam reluctantly looked at the files. There must have been about 20 of them. He gently flipped through them until he found the one he most wanted to read, but which also seemed to be the thinnest.
Constantine was clasping his hands together, calmly looking out the window.
“Take your time studying these files, Liam. If it were me, I would probably have already selected a few of the most suitable candidates at this stage.”
“Yes, I would too.” Liam replied. He glanced quickly at the dossier in his hand:
Romantic history: 1 high school romance with Scott Earving, 2 years, ended. The rest: unknown.
Liam breathed a sigh of relief.
“That’s right,” Constantine nodded. “Perhaps your mother would agree with me that Madeleine would be a top candidate with her political experience and aristocratic upbringing.”
“Father, may I take the files I find interesting to my room to study?”
“Of course. They’re here for you.”
Liam wished Constantine goodnight, bowed to his father, and left the room.
A while later, the king’s secretary returned, asking Constantine’s permission to clear the remaining files from the coffee table.
“How many are left?” Constantine asked, suddenly curious about the young ladies Liam had taken an interest in.
“Your Majesty, it seems that His Highness only took one. There are 19 dossiers left here.”
“Who was chosen by him?”
After a brief verification, the secretary looked up at the king and replied:
8 traits of Liam to presume he’s a Virgo 👑♥️ (Liam horoscope headcanon)
In my previous post about Liam’s love life headcanon (it’s 18+, but the link is here anyway), I thought he should be Taurus. But now I realized Drake is the real Taurus, and my king is a Virgo born in August. Here is why:
1. He puts others before self. Obviously, Liam is selfless and caring. He always thinks of his people’ utmost interest, and he makes sure his loved ones find happiness even before his own. Remember how Liam fully supported Leo when the latter abdicated the throne and was confronted by his parents; then Liam voluntarily claimed to bear the responsibilities of being king, just for Leo to be free.
2. He always keeps his composures but also is hard to read. Regina admitted that it was difficult to know what Liam wanted because he wouldn’t open up to anyone after his brother left. He rarely gets angry and it takes a lot to make him lose control. He never entirely let loose. He keeps himself stoic and reserved at court and only reveals his true self when with his best friends.
3. He is responsible, reliable, faithful, patient, hard-working, modest. Heh, it might be too much, but that’s how he is. No wonder his parents think he is better suited to be king than his brother.
4. He brings order aka Liam the peacemaker of every parties.
5. He knows his strength and limits. Also knows what to expect, what his duties are. He accepts the fact as it is with such calm, for instance, he knows he might be married not for love but for political interest even as a prince or a king. I don’t think there is a more grounded character.
6. He’s passionate about learning. Liam is a sophisticated one. His wide knowledge about his country is up to the point of Drake stating that he is the encyclopedia of Cordonia ancient artifacts. He knows a large variety of subjects, speaks several languages, can play various sports and royal games, surely knows how to defend himself and even fencing (as in Main Character Energy). Leo said Liam rarely skipped class, maybe that’s why.
7. In love, he’s caring, supportive and romantic. His superpower is giving perfect gifts. He likes to organize dates and pamper his queen with good food and massage. Wherever they travel to, Liam always looks for a particular romantic destination to invite Riley to join him for a date. Liam also have a hidden wild side with some of the greatest sex skills one ever experiences.
8. He’s the incarnation of perfection. He’s always trying to become the best king for Cordonia, best man for his love. Before he meets Riley, his dream woman was someone impossible: she must navigate the pressures of Cordonian court and also find her way into his heart.

Sunday afternoon passed rather busily in the Royal Palace. Three days had passed since his coronation, and Liam had been constantly receiving diplomatic and economic delegations from various countries who had come to pay their respects to the new King of Cordonia. Lunches and dinners were also banquets with state officials. He had almost no time for reflection. But whenever he had a few brief moments of rest between meetings, he was consumed by thoughts of Sofia. His longing for her, his worry for her safety, his regret and helplessness at not being able to protect her, and the pain of not knowing how she felt about his engagement to Madeleine, were all gnawing at him. Even more irritating was Madeleine's visit to his office the previous night, haughtily reminding him of the deal she had proposed to him just hours before the coronation, a deal that had kept him thinking all night. Liam had almost given up his self-discipline against succumbing to alcohol to forget his current sorrow, as his best friend Drake used to do with him.
Liam gazed pensively down at the royal gardens from his office window. The sun was setting, casting golden rays through the treetops. The final event of the afternoon was over, giving Liam an evening free from royal duties. He was thinking of calling Drake over for a talk when there was a knock on the door and Winston, his secretary, entered.
“Your Majesty, the Queen Mother wishes to see you.”
“Alright.”
Liam walked toward the door to greet Regina.
“Mother.” He bowed as his stepmother entered the room.
“Liam, you always keep your good manners.” Regina smiled slightly as Liam invited her to sit at the guest table. “I hope I’m not disturbing you while you're resting?”
“No, Mother. I was just admiring the view.”
A servant brought them tea, coffee, and some pastries before leaving. Regina watched Liam intently as he sat across from her. His face looked considerably older than it had been just a few days ago, and the dark circles under his eyes were more visible.
“How did you sleep last night, Liam?”
“It was alright, Mother. I don't think any king can sleep well in the first few weeks after his coronation.”
“I understand.” Regina considered for a few seconds. “Although... that might have something to do with your conversation with Madeleine last night, wouldn't it?”
Liam raised an eyebrow, about to ask, but Regina raised her hand and said softly,
“I don't mean to pry into your private affairs. But I happened to see her storm out of your office.”
“I only refused her offer once more, but it seems that made her lose her composure.”
“You know what Madeleine is like, Liam. If there's anything to say about her, it's her determination and patriotism above all else.”
“I would say it's her stubbornness and lust for power.”
Regina didn't reply immediately. She knew there was suppressed anger in Liam's voice. He had never liked Madeleine, and having to get engaged to her while letting Sofia taken away right before his eyes must have upset him. She also noticed he had been somewhat indifferent and ate very little during the royal family meals that Madeleine had attended these past few days.
“Liam, tell me about Madeleine's proposal. At least as someone who also married the monarch, I can understand her motives. I hope you know that you don't need to hide your feelings from me.”
Liam looked at the coffee cup in his hand and sighed. After a moment, he set the cup down on the table and began to speak.
“She came to see me privately before the coronation, and again yesterday to remind me. She said she knew I loved Sofia and that I would choose her, but that only Madeleine was capable of becoming Queen. She suggested I marry her instead because the country and people of Cordonia deserved the best monarch. In return, I would be free to love Sofia in secret, and she wouldn't care.”
Regina took a sip of tea.
“You're not happy with that, are you?”
“Of course not. The only person I find worthy of being Queen of Cordonia is Sofia. Madeleine never saw what I see in Sofia. She doesn't deserve to be treated this way either.”
“I see you care deeply about Lady Sofia.” Regina gently replied, “Through our interactions, I've sensed that she has undeniable potential, but that's not enough to survive in this court. Sofia's current situation is quite unfavorable for you to still want her to become Queen.”
“I couldn't protect her as I thought I could...” Liam whispered.
“Liam,” the Queen Mother looked at him sympathetically, “you are bearing the greatest responsibility a son of Cordonia can bear, and that is already unimpeachable. There are things even kings find difficult to accomplish, and you need to compromise to achieve the best possible outcome.”
Liam remained silent. He stood up and walked to the window, looking out at the space before him. Compromise was something he had always been taught and practiced since he began growing up. He always thought everything could be balanced, but now, balancing personal desires and national interests had never been so hard. He understood why Leo had withdrawn. The life of an ordinary person, free from pressure, living with the one they love—wasn't that beautiful?
“Sofia is still here.”
Liam turned his head. Regina took another sip from her cup. She lightly dabbed her handkerchief on her mouth before continued.
“The girl truly has the spirit of a warrior. My sources say Sofia didn't give up and return to America as the press predicted. Therefore, I think she deserves to stay and return to the court when the time is right.”
Even without looking at Liam, Regina could sense that hope had lit up his face.
“Liam, I believe you know what you need to do with Madeleine’s proposal. Every step you take must be carefully considered so that no one can doubt you. The power you hold is greater than you think, just use it wisely.”
“I understood. Thank you, Mother.” Liam firmly replied, his heart now calm. He escorted Regina out of his office, took a deep breath, and requested Madeleine to be summoned.

Author’s note: I want to do justice to Liam and Sofia's first time as PB described it too short. NF*W. Reader discretion is adviced.
The night was still young in the royal gardens, where Liam and Sofia showing their affections toward each other.
“Liam...” Sofia said as she touched the prince's lapel “Let's take this all the way.”
“You want...?” The prince softly asked.
“Don't you?” She raised her eyes to look at him. She had to pluck up the courage to say those words. If he denied, she could never face him the same again. But to her relief, Liam's face lifted up with a smile:
“Yes. God, yes.”
They came together. He dropped a kiss to her shoulder as he undressed her, his own heat warming her body against the night breeze...
“Sofia... You're so beautiful.”
Her face blushing as her ball gown and undergarments slipped down. She stepped forward to tug Liam's blazer off, hands pushing at his shirt and pants. When he was freed from clothes, she looked at his muscular torso and his rather big love muscle.
“You don't look half bad yourself...”
“Cheeky as ever.” Liam chuckled.
He laid his blazer on the grass for her to lie on, before he settled on top of her.
“I've thought a lot about this moment...” Liam swallowed hard when he looked at her.
“Well… So have I. Dreaming about it really and how it might be...”
“Any thoughts about how you want it to be?”
“I want it sweet and slow.” Sofia sheepishly replied.
“I couldn't imagine it any other way...”
Liam kissed her, his lips brushing against her neck then moving down to nuzzle the valley between her breasts.
“Every part of you is amazing...”
He lavished attention on Sofia’s chest, running his hands between her legs... Sofia arched in pleasure against him, her breath coming short and eyes closing... Liam moved up, touching his forehead to hers.
“I love you… I want you…” His voice was hardly recognized by deep desire.
“Then take me.” Sofia whispered back.
Liam smiled and kissed her deeply. He lowered himself and slowly entered her. She closed her eyes and shivered, her back bent to adjust with his big member.
“Mmm, Liam...”
“You feel incredible, Sofia.” He praised, showering her with kisses when he started moving his hips.
He keeps his steady pace as he heaved himself up to look at her. Her cheeks blushing, eyes sparkling and filled with love.
“You are gorgeous, my lady. Just know that you've made me the happiest man tonight.”
“The feeling is mutual, your Highness.” Sofia playfully bited her lower lip, enjoying the spectacular scene before her eyes.
“I'm flattered. You don't know how much I want to please you.” Liam whispered between her lips before kissing her again. The excitement almost got the better of him as he finally could make Sofia his. All this time he had to hold back his affection for her. Not only because of his position, but part of him was unsure how she would react. Would she feel the same way about him? What if he was too forwarded, showing up whenever he could manage, just to steal a few minutes with her? His free time as Crown Prince coming to an end today, he couldn't withhold his emotions for longer. He just had to tell her how he feel before their lives changed forever... And her response sent him to the moon.
Liam gradually sped up the rhythm. Sofia eagerly raised her hips in perfect sync with him. Her legs crossed around his back, instinctively tightened to make him closer to her. Her nails digged into his back. Their breaths became shorter as she threw her head backward.
“Yes... yes...”
“Come for me, Sofia.” The prince growled, increasing the intensity of his movements. Sofia moaned more loudly, her walls clenched tightly around his.
“Oh... Liam...” She cried as a way of ecstasy washed over her whole body.
Liam quickly reached his climax and released into her in a spurt. He collapsed on her, panting. They smiled blissfully at each other after they had both caught their breath. Liam gently kissed Sofia on her forehead:
“Thank you, Sofia, for spending time with me here. I will never forget this moment.”
“And I, you.”
Still floating on air with the afterglow but Liam soon managed to grasp the reality:
“I wish we could stay out here all night, but...”
“No, we should go in... It's a big night for you. For both of us now.”
Reluctantly, they pulled apart. Liam helped Sofia to her feet, they got dressed and returned to the palace hand in hand, anticipating with what future hold for them, yet still hoping for the best.
My first fan art about King Liam during the events of Main Character Energy, when the main character is introduced to him in a ball celebrating the bloom of the Cordonian Onyx.
Given the fact that Riley is out of country for a personal business, Maxwell, Drake and Hana lead MC to meet Liam - the person who is hoped to solve the puzzle. So I draw these pics from Liam’s POV.

After Sofia closed her door, Drake turned and left. The worry still lingered in his mind that Applewood Manor was unsafe for Sofia tonight. He pulled out his phone and texted Liam:
“Are you asleep yet? I need to tell you something. About Sofia.”
Just ten seconds later, Liam replied.
“Come to my room. I’ve informed Bastien.”
Drake went straight to the prince’s bedchambers a few hallways and floors away. The guards looked at him but didn’t stop him. Bastien nodded to Drake and opened the door:
“Your Highness, Mr. Drake has arrived.”
“Thank you, Bastien.” Liam greeted his close friend and closed the door behind him. It was past 10:30 at night, and he was reviewing his plans for tomorrow when Drake’s sudden message completely disrupted his thoughts. “What happened to her?”
“Promise me you’ll stay calm.”
“I will try.” Liam frowned in worry.
Drake took a deep breath.
“I was walking down the third-floor hallway when I heard Sofia screaming. I rushed into her room and found her arguing with Tariq.”
“Tariq? What was he doing in there?”
“I think he was trying to molest her. Sofia slapped him. I rushed in, pulled him out, and beat him up. Then he ran out of the room.”
“Sofia… Is she alright?” Liam asked anxiously “I need to go see her.”
“No.” Drake said “I mean, she might be sleeping now… She’s alright, I think. She was unharmed, maybe a little disoriented at first, then she calmed down and thought it might be a misunderstanding. Because Tariq said he thought his room was Sofia’s.”
“That’s ridiculous. Applewood Manor never has nobles’ room mixed up. Men’s rooms aren’t even on the same floor as women’s rooms.”
“I also sensed something off with Tariq. He approached Sofia while she… you know… was changing clothes and only wearing undergarments.” Drake avoided looking at Liam as he stated this fact.
“Tariq – that scoundrel. And yet he always acts like a nobleman.” Liam exclaimed angrily. “He wasn’t drunk, was he?”
“I don’t think so. If he had been, he wouldn’t been fought back as much. And there’s this too. I noticed Sofia’s room door didn’t have a security lock. Every other room should have one. I think someone removed it from her room, so Tariq was able to open her door so easily.”
Liam’s face hardened. If Drake was right, then perhaps this wasn’t a random misunderstanding. A door unlocked. A man barging in while Sofia was unprepared, intended to bother her. Could it be some stupid prank from Sofia’s rival suitors? Liam frowned in annoyance.
“Hey, what are you thinking?” asked Drake.
“I was hoping it was just a stunt. But if not, I fear someone is planning to tarnish Sofia’s reputation if this gets out.”
“We’re not sure about that, though.”
“Yes, and without evidence, I cannot charge anyone who’s behind this. Someone’s audacious enough to harm my closed ones.” Liam’s jaw clenched as he paced around the room.
Drake looked at him from the side.
“You know, she was very worried that when you find out about this from the others, you may think she had feelings for Tariq.”
“I would never. I know she’s not that kind of person. She's even more noble than many other ladies who are already aristocrats.” asserted Liam.
“That’s good then.” Drake gazed into the distance. He knew his best friend was deeply in love with Sofia. Luckily, that love was reciprocated. So… Drake really shouldn’t step between them.
“You said her room doesn’t have a lock right now?” Liam asked as he turned and walked back to his desk. He bent down, pressed a button on the desk, and said, “Bastien, please come in for a moment.”
Just a few seconds later, the bodyguard knocked on the door.
“Your Highness.”
“Bastien, I have a favor to ask of you. Guard the door of Lady Sofia’s room after 10pm. Also, guard the hallway outside her room. But everyone will leave at dawn, before she gets up and leaves her room. I want this to be done starting tonight, and every night after that, as the court moves to different locations for the social season.”
“Yes, Sir.”
“And one more thing. I want you to keep an eye on Tariq. If he approaches Sofia, report it to me immediately.”
“Understood, Sir.”
Bastien bowed and left.
“You think that would be a bit too much and draw attention to her room?” asked Drake.
“That's why I request the guard only from 10pm.” Liam signed “It's the least I could do to ensure her safety for now. I don't think I could trust those nobles.”
“No, you can't.”
“Hey, Drake,” Liam approached and placed his hand on his friend’s shoulder. “Thank you for being there for Sofia just in time. I can’t be always with her. And I’m so glad you protect her on my behalf.”
“Of course, buddy.” Drake patted Liam’s shoulder lightly, but he winced at the wound in his side. “Ow…”
“What’s wrong?”
“Oh, it’s nothing. Tariq punched me a few times in the ribs while I was wrestling with him.”
“Are you sure you’re okay? A broken rib could hurt a lot. Let me see.”
“I’m really fine.” Drake waved his hand. He didn’t want Liam to know that Sofia had bandaged him up. “It’s just a bruise. Besides, there’s nothing whiskey can’t soothe.”
Liam chuckled. He went to the bar in his room, grabbed a bottle of Lagavulin 16 and two glasses.
“Come, Drake. I happen to have one of your favorites here to ease your pain.”
Author’s note: A really short story on Liam’s POV and a little of Maxwell’s at the end, about Liam and MC’ first date (my MC name is Sofia). I came up with this when I played chapter 15 of Book 1. It was spontaneous and really fun to write something as delightful. All original characters belong to Pixelberry Studios.

Liam gently tapped his index on his Ipad while the chancellor of Cordonian exchequer talking about next year's budget provision for some public missions. This meeting was going to last for a few more hours. He couldn't wait for tomorrow to come, when he would meet Lady Sofia again in the Beaumont estate. If only he could see her earlier... Just then his phone vibrated as a new message popped out on the screen. That was Drake.
“Hey, I'm heading to Beaumont place. Maxwell needs help cleaning his house at last minute.”
Liam raised his eyebrows. How come the Beaumont brothers cannot hire a proper cleaning service?
“OK. Tell me if there is anything I can help with.” He texted back.
“It's OK. I'll update soon.”
Liam put his phone down and concentrated on the meeting. Some time later, during the break, Drake's message came.
“We've mostly done the prep for tomorrow. Sofia's been a great help.”
Liam smiled. He knew she wasn't like other ladies at court - those easily got distraught by participating in manual labor. He wanted to praise her after such a long day for both of them. An idea came into his mind. He typed a new message for Maxwell:
“Hi Maxwell. Do you mind if I come over your place this evening at around 7? I wanted to have dinner with Sofia.”
“Ohh, sure thing, man. Is it a date?”
“Yes, I'm hoping so. Will she be occupied tonight?”
“Nope, she has no schedule so far. Do you need help?”
Liam thought over it. What do men usually do for their girls during their first dates? He typed the question on Google. Various answers appeared on his screen.
“I may need some flower boutiques' information near your estate.”
***
Liam watched over Sofia returning to her room to get ready for their date night, then he pulled out his phone and dialed a number from his business sim.
“Yes, it’s Liam. This afternoon I placed an order with you on a bouquet of red Hybrid Tea rose. Could you please deliver the bouquet to the Beaumont estate within thirty minutes?”
When he finished the call, Maxwell walked over to him.
“Hi, the chef is working on our renowned tomato pasta.”
“Thank you, Maxwell. And what do you offer for drink?”
“Hmm, let me see. I'd choose something simple yet elegant for the first date. Champagne'd be fine by me.”
“What about the Beaumont Blancs? I think Sofia would appreciate your house's finest white wine.”
“Great idea. Then I'll prepare it.”
“Ah, there is one more thing. I think this should be a big favor to ask you now that I owe you too much. But could you give us the honor to be served by you?”
“Of course, Li. Not a big deal at all.” Maxwell laughed. “I can finally show you my table serving skills I've secretly trained after years of observing.”
***
It was almost 10, Maxwell went out of his room for a snack before his bedtime. Just when he turned the corner of the east wing, a scene displayed that almost made him scream out of excitement, yet luckily he stopped himself: From afar, Liam and Sofia were deeply kissing.
“Good Lord.” He almost had to wipe away his tears of joy “My effort pays off. My best friend is one step closer to his happy ending with Sofia... Right, I better not disturbing them. But what if Bertrand finds them like this? I should give them a heads-up.”

After a long day of essays and group assignments, Drake wearily strolled across his university campus, heading towards the apartment building at the end of the main road. This final year of college was exhausting, but he would graduate and be unemployed soon. He was idly contemplating returning to Texas, taking over his mother's ranch, and living like a cowboy, when he noticed an acquaintance standing in front of his apartment building.
“Bastien.” Drake frowned slightly at the unexpected presence of the royal bodyguard. And the only person he was supposed to protect was the Crown Prince of Cordonia.
“Drake, long time no see.” Bastien nodded. “Just come in.”
Drake opened the door to the building. He guessed Prince Leo wouldn't be waiting for him in the main hallway because of everyone passing by. But he was wrong; Leo was comfortably leaning against the main staircase, looking towards the end of the hallway where a small landscaped area with trees was displayed. The prince dressed casually like a traveler.
“Your Highness,” Drake said.
“Drake, there's no need to be so formal with me when we're outside the palace,” Leo chuckled. “Your place is beautiful, isn't it? You even have indoor plants.”
“I only chose this place because I don't have to live with my friends. And it's close enough to school,” Drake said. “I guess you didn't come all the way here just to see how I'm living, did you?”
Indeed, it had been over four years since he left Cordonia to attend university in the United States, and he didn't stay connected with anyone. What reason could the prince have to go all the way here, except for one thing?
“It's because of Liam.” The smile vanished from Leo's face. His expression suddenly showed clear worry and distress.
“What happened?” Drake asked immediately.
Leo looked around. Drake understood the prince's intentions and asked him to accompany him to his room upstairs. Once inside and certain no one was eavesdropping, Leo sighed:
“You probably don't know this. The court has blocked all media access to the information. But... we survived an assassination attempt while we were on our trip to Avicia. No one was seriously injured; the Royal Guards shielded us and captured the snipers. But Liam seems to be in shock. I don't know why, but he's been holed up in his room for two weeks. He refuses to see anyone, not even me or Maxwell. He's also skipped meals for days. Father is worried sick. I think you're the only hope left, Drake.”
Leo's voice broke with worry.
“Please come back to Cordonia with me. Liam needs you.”
“I'll come with you,” said Drake at once. He was willing to do anything to help Liam. More than ever his best friend was in pain right now.
Drake quickly packed his essentials, left a message for the landlord, then went with Leo to the nearest airport – where they boarded the Cordonia Royal Family's private plane and flew back to Europe.
A servant led Drake to the left wing of the palace, where Liam's private room was located.
“Thank you,” Drake said. The servant bowed and left.
He approached the oak door and knocked.
“Liam?”
“I'm not really hungry. Please don't bring any more food.” Liam's voice came from inside the room.
“Um, I don't have any food.” Drake glanced down at his only possession – a small bottle of whiskey. Perhaps I shouldn't use it, he thought, then tucked the bottle into his pocket. “It's Drake.”
There was a rustling sound in the room and footsteps. Then Liam opened the door.
“Drake? What are you doing here?” Liam looked utterly astonished.
“What else? I came back to see you.”
“I... I'm fine, Drake.”
“Really? Do you think I'd believe you with your Lebowski appearance?” Drake said as he walked into Liam's room. “And your room is just like mine when I was 13.”
Liam stood in the doorway, dressed in casual clothes, gaunt and tousled. He ran his hands across his face.
“I'm just a little tired, but I'm fine. Drake, you don't need to worry about me. You flew all this way, leaving your friends and your studies behind just for me.”
“Liam, stop worrying for me. I know everything.”
Liam froze, his face turning pale and contorting in anguish. Drake walked over and hugged Liam, patting his best friend's back.
“Hey, I'm here. You're not alone.”
Liam trembled. He closed his eyes tightly and groaned.
“Someone was shot. The guards pulled everyone to the ground. Crying, screaming. The chaos... I was so scared and hopeless. Lying still and waiting for everything. As if I were living that night, again...”
Drake immediately understood Liam was referring to the night Queen Eleanor was poisoned ten years ago. Not long after that party, the Queen was found. The boys had to wait in the room while outside the chaos of searching for the assassin raged. Being with Liam during that moment, Drake saw how panic his friend could become.
“What if it had been just a few centimeters off, what if the person shot was Father, Regina, or Leo? I've already lost my mother. I can't lose another loved one...”
“Shhh... That won't happen, everyone's safe. The King's Guard has reinforced security with three layers, Bastien told me so.” Drake gently assured.
Liam remained silent.
“Tell me how I can help you,” asked Drake.
There was no answer right away. But after a long time, Liam sniffled. He stood straight, took a long breath and calmly said:
“I feel much better now. Thank you, Drake, for being here with me.”
“Yeah, no problem.”
“But seriously, can you stay here with me for a few more days, then go back to America and get on with your life?”
“No.”
“No? Why?”
“I'm not leaving you. You're important to me. Your life is important to me. I couldn’t care less about my studies, or what I've been through in the States. My home is here, my place is next to you.”
Liam was stunned. His eyes welled up with emotion. Drake looked down at the ground and muttered,
“Don't tell anyone what I said.”
Liam smiled for the first time in days. His best friend wanted to keep the best part of himself a secret?
“I can't promise anything,” the prince mischievously replied.
Drake looked up, a smirk playing on his face.
“Alright, now witness my wrath.”
The two boys lunged at each other amidst hearty hugs and bursts of laughter.
Alright, I accidentally create this poll, but too lazy to delete the post and write again. so I should ask how do you like this fanfic of mine?

In the royal library, Liam was studying some documents on the 19th-century trade history between Cordonia and its neighboring countries when he heard a knock on the door. Recognizing the familiar sound, he put down his book and walked toward the door:
"Come in, Leo."
Leo entered, a smile spreading across his face as the brothers embraced:
"Didn't think you'd recognize me."
"Of course, only you and Mother knock on my door instead of letting the herald announce your arrival," Liam patted his brother's back. "Welcome back. Is Greece still beautiful?"
"Breathtakingly. White sand, golden sunshine, crystal-clear blue sea, ancient temples… Just as they were the last time we came. Also I met a remarkable girl."
"You're always like that," Liam chuckled.
Leo walked over and glanced at the documents spread out on Liam's desk.
"And I always see you with your head buried in books."
"I need to be ready. Father wants me to attend the Southern European trade conference next week."
"It's not because Father wants you to be busy and forget your sorrows, is it?" Leo asked, chuckling.
Liam smiled and replied, "No," but his gaze drifted out the window. Leo realized his younger brother was still preoccupied with that girl—the one who had captured the prince's heart for almost a year, only to run away when she was about to be introduced to the Cordonia court. Sighing softly, Leo put his arm around Liam's shoulder:
"You know what, Li? Staying in the library all the time will only make you as gloomy as these history books. Let's go for a walk."
A short while later, the two princes strolled leisurely along the grounds of the royal gardens behind the palace. The afternoon sun shone through the rustling leaves, and the breeze carried the faint scent of roses in the air.
"Do you think this year's Apple Blossom Festival will see many contracts signed with Asian countries as we expand our campaign to promote the Cordonian Ruby?" Liam asked, looking up at the apple trees in the orchard.
"I'm absolutely certain. I know you have a long-term vision in the business world," Leo replied with a smile. Then he cleared his throat slightly. "Liam… My recent trip… helped me realize the importance of self-determination in life."
"What do you mean?"
"I told you I met a girl. She inherited a huge fortune from her grandmother, but she has to make a decision for the inheritance to take effect."
"Sounds fascinating."
"That's right. I realized that whatever she chooses, it's what she wants. And her grandmother accepts it. She has complete freedom and control over her life."
"Yes, she does.”
"I think… I’m intensely inspired by her. Liam, I’m not one to follow strict rules and regulations. I truly crave the freedom I saw on that trip."
Liam was beginning to understand Leo’s words. He stopped and frowned at his brother.
"Leo, are you saying that you…?"
"Yes," Leo closed his eyes and took a deep breath. When he opened them, he looked at Liam with a determined gaze. "I want to pursue my dream as a commoner."
Liam stood silently. His face was filled with astonishment.
"But that means you’ll abdicate."
"Yes, I will. I know this is unexpected, but it’s something I’ve been contemplating for a long time. Perhaps I wasn’t born to be king, but I’m confident and reassured seeing you, who have been and still are, preparing. You can absolutely do it, Liam."
Leo cautiously observed Liam's reaction. He feared he had shocked his younger brother with this decision. After all, they weren't always close, and they were constantly busy with their own schedules. But Liam remained surprisingly calm after Leo's explanation.
"I… didn't scare you too much, did I?" Leo asked hesitantly.
Liam looked back at him, sighing softly.
"Actually, I did imagine that situation, but I didn't think it would happen. I was thinking more about what I could do as a Prince, without having to bear the greatest responsibilities."
"Yes, I understand."
"But Leo, you'll lose your royal privileges. The protection, the title, the influence… What if that life becomes difficult for you?"
"It won't, Liam. I've lived like that on my travels. It makes me truly happy and free." Leo placed his hand on his brother's shoulder, squeezing gently.
"If that makes you happy…" Liam smiled softly. "Then I'm relieved."
"Now I'm more worried about you, little brother. I'm sorry I put you in this situation. You said you hadn't thought this would happen…"
"I'm really not ready right now," Liam's shoulders slumped as if the weight of the kingdom was shifting from Leo to him. "But what other choice do I have? I'll have to get ready."
"You can do it, I believe in you. You're more capable than you think you are."
"Thank you, Leo."
The two brothers watched the sun set and continued to discuss about Leo’s future plans.
That evening, as the royal family was having dinner and the first dessert was about to be served, Leo told the King and Queen of his intentions. After a long silence, King Constantine spoke:
"Are you sure this is what you want?"
"Yes, Father."
"Not a spur-of-the-moment decision stemming from a fateful encounter, is it?"
"No, Father," replied Leo, though he was slightly startled. Liam glanced at him at that moment. "This is something I've longed for since my first travels as Crown Prince."
"I understand," nodded Constantine. He gazed into the distance before turning back to Leo:
"After all these years of raising you, I still can't make you feel your duty to the Crown and your people."
Leo's eyes were filled with sadness:
"Father, I did. It's just… I don't think I'm good enough to bear that responsibility."
"No one is good enough when they start!" Constantine interrupted, his voice rising. "I had to learn too; I learned from my father and the previous emperors."
"My King…" Regina placed her hand on Constantine's to calm the king's anger.
"Well, at least you want to do it, but I don't," Leo said coldly.
"Leo," Liam spoke up, giving Leo a knowing glance, silently hoping he wouldn't widen the gap.
"What do you mean by that?" Constantine frowned.
"You've never really asked me what I want."
“As the son of the monarch, do you think you can choose between what you want and what you must do?”
“Father, Leo, please stop.” Liam stood up “I hope you both will calm down before continuing your conversation. As for me, I've spoken with Leo since this afternoon. I understand his wishes, and I fully support him because it makes him pleased. And Father, you still have me. Although I'm not ready yet, I will try my best to live up to your expectations. Please let Leo have his way.”
Leo looked at Liam, his eyes filled with gratitude and trust. Liam looked down at the table, his heart in turmoil, wondering if he could salvage the relationship between his brother and their father, or what awaited him once he became heir to the throne. Constantine then spoke, his voice softening:
“Liam, thank you for always being a peacemaker in the family. Your Mother and I are not surprised by Leo's decision. But I can't hide my disappointment at what happened. Everyone feels the same way; we had high expectations for my eldest son. But now I realize I can't force him anymore.”
The king sighed, then calmly said:
"Let Leo be free to become what he wants. Liam, you shall be the Crown Prince of Cordonia. We pin our hopes on you."
“It would be my greatest honor, Father.” Liam heard himself mumbling blankly.
From the spare, he had became the heir just like that. He spent the next few days unslept, his emotions whirled up like a jumble. Excitement, yes. He vaguely thought his plans for developing Cordonia would be realized. Anxiety, because he didn't know if he could be a good enough king for the country. What would the people expect of him? How would neighboring countries and international public opinion think of him? Sadness, because he would have to set aside his personal desires for the good of his kingdom – the reason Leo abdicated.
But there was not so much time for him to dwell on his mind. A full schedule was set up for the new Crown Prince of Cordonia. Little did Liam knew he would be busy for the next 2 years with meetings, ceremonies, social events, and a lot of flights and trips until his coronation. He forgot how to live normally.

Liam’s first time is when he was 17, in Leo’s 23 birthday. Saying that it was to entertain his little brother who was always busy with court related lessons and various subjects, Leo brought Liam to a high-end strip club. So that night, Liam was officially ripped off his innocence and purity, by 2 dancers cum courtesans. First he had a blowjob, then a cowgirl position, and finished with doggie.
Of course he had condoms. In fact, Liam has always used condoms every time he has sex with anyone. Except Riley. He did use it for theirs first few times, but as their relationship grows stronger, he strongly believes she is his true love, his queen, the only one of his heart. After having Riley’s consent, they make love unprotectedly, which makes Liam utterly blissed out, and Riley start taking birth control pill as a precaution until their engagement day. If not, they would have produce an heir very soon and cause a big scandal.
His favorite condom is Durex Invisible. Sometimes he uses Durex PleasureMax if his lover requires a tough and hard sex. He instinctively favors butts over boobs.
After his experience in Leo’s birthday night, Liam told Drake about it, causing the latter curiosity. As Drake’s birthday is one month after Leo’s (I presume Leo is Aries, Drake is Taurus and Liam is Virgo), Liam took his best friend to the same strip club. Another boy became man.
Until he met Riley, Liam had a few relationship. But nothing came serious, and no one made he feel the way Riley made him. His first girlfriend was a daughter of an English earl, whom he met in a ball during his sophomore year at Cambridge. They parted way after one semester. His second was a lady who was introduced to him during a royal event, after Liam finished his military service in Cordonian Royal Air Force. He politely called it quit after discovering her weird scent addiction, a few months after. The third girlfriend was someone he found rather interesting, a lecturer and also social activist. But she pursues her career very seriously and is not willing to enter Cordonia royal court as the Prince’s girlfriend. They separated in Liam’s ruefulness. Fortunately, Liam didn’t spend much time in sorrow, as Leo abdicated the throne right afterward. From the spare, he became the heir. For two years, he devoted fully to his country and people, to prepare himself to take the crown.
The Cordonian Royal Medical Households secretly collect health informations of every potential ladies and suitors who are close to the princes, to make sure they are healthy. But they only inform the princes if there is a problem.
Liam is a hopeless romantic. Once fall in love, he commits fully to his partner. Drake fears this could hurt his best friend. But luckily Liam doesn’t fall in love easily. And Drake is always there looking out for him, especially after the assasination attempt that shaked Liam greatly.
While all of his girlfriends were drop dead gorgeous (his taste is high, he’s a Prince afterall), none of them could actually capture his heart at first time like Riley. Even in her waitress uniform, her fair beauty is something remarkable in his eyes. But Liam has always been looking for an authentic connection: someone who loves him for who he is, not his title; yet can still navigate the pressure of Cordonian court. Under the pressure of tradition and rules, he knows he may have to marry for political interests. So he keeps himself stoic and never entirely opened to anyone. That’s when Riley appeared and changed his life forever.
On their honeymoon... MC praised her King on his physique❤️🔥✨️...Liam explained, "A King should be strong to defend his kingdom... and his Queen."
