I’m a 20 year old long time Star Wars nerd finally getting into the tumblr game.

I’m gonna be posting a lot of art here, and possibly a fanfic or two, but I am in university so posting may not be frequent.

Just came home from a dinner party with the friendgroup at which several people kept saying "Ask Pedro" or "Pedro will know" and I was terrified that they were referring to an AI like Claude but no, thank fuck, they were referring to a cardboard cutout of Pedro Pascal that someone left upstairs and who has been designated a kind of patron saint status in the household.

Very random but I feel it’s important to say this. If we’re making Clone OC’s and want to bring in Māori culture, it’s EXTREMELY important that if you use Ta Moko as a signifier, you get a general understanding of Ta Moko and make your own design.

You can use inspo pictures for reference, but if you are copying one for one a photo of someone’s Ta Moko, specifically Mataora/Moko Kanohi or Moko Kauae (Moko on the face), your literally stealing that persons ancestors and life. Ta Moko is a medium to tell story’s and keep history, each design has a meaning, a certain Iwi (tribe) and Whanau (family) it belongs to, and a Whakapapa (a line of ancestory).

It’s like if someone random came into your home and took a photo of your family and put there faces on different bodies.

There is 100% a correct way to rep Māori in your art, and a correct way to take inspiration from Ta Moko, but please, just always make the design your own. Even change the style a bit to reflect the culture your clone or character might identify with in the SW universe.

EG, I have a mandalorian oc who is Māori, and she has a Moko Kauae, but instead of copying some one else’s, I used inspiration from traditional Moko Kauae and combined it with Mandalorian symbols.

This way she is clearly meant to be Māori, but you also identify her Mandalorian Whakapapa, and I haven’t taken someone else’s story.

Sorry for the rant, but thought it should be quickly said. On that note though, CLONES, JANGO, AND BOBA ARE 100% MĀORI SO GOOD ON YOU FOR REPPING THEM AS SUCH. TANGATA WHENUA TO THE WORLD!!
