Ok. It's been almost exactly one year since I last updated Pretty Little Pet. I just finished the next chapter and I already have some words done for the next few chapters. I'd like to have at least a couple chapters ready before I post again, but my current plan is that I post the next chapter on the latest chapter's anniversary (Dez 7th)
ok I get that this would have completely changed the story but I would have loved to see Vox being more of a team player and being more proud of what he accomplished with the Vees.
Like when Alastor points out that he couldn't reach the top alone, Vox counters with "neither could you, Alastor" and points out that he gave Alastor the chance to team up with him, that he could have been at the top, together with Vox.
And if Alastor (or anyone else) points out that working together is risky because the other(s) can always stab you in the back, Vox could argue that the Vees too dependent on each other for that to happen. Valentino makes money with his pornography but needs people to make it and buy it, and distribute it. Velvette manipulates the people into buying shit but needs something she can sell. Vox controls the media but needs content for his channels. This is a pretty surface summary of what they do, and they could definitely do pretty well in hell just by themselves, but they're doing so much better working together.
Val and Vel also genuinely like Vox and each other. And I do believe Vox likes them too, but even if he doesn't, he benefits by at least pretending to do. He slips up and says shit like "my plan" way to much, and it makes him seem pretty bad at being a manipulator. He could have thrown a couple "Thank you" and "I couldn't have done it without you" at the Vees (and maybe some "you look gorgeous" at Val), even if it's fake.
Don't get me wrong, I love how kinda pathetic he is in canon, but I also would have loved to see a version at Vox that can appreciate what he has with the Vees and is as good as manipulating his friends as he is at manipulating the masses.
(Hazbin Hotel finale spoilers) I'm so relieved Vox didn't die and Val and Velvette took him back. I doubt the Vees will play a big role in season 3, I guess we'll see a bit of Val because of his connections to Angel, and that'll hopefully give us a glimpse of how Vox is doing
Kinda bummed Lute didn't really do much. After her awesome song I was her expecting more, but I'm guessing they are setting her up as more of a season 3 main antagonist
Also I'm worried about Alastor's interest in Lucifer. As much as I like AppleRadio, I genuinely doubt it's gonna be canon. Alastor definitely wants to use him/his power somehow. I wanna know what exactly his end plan is here
Really loved the season overall and I'm excited for season 3!!
I finished the re-write of Pretty Little Pet!! There were enough changes that I'm gonna copy and upload the original as a separate work shortly before I upload the next chapter. Most changes were in the early chapters and the biggest change was that I cut quite a bit from chapter 3 for flow reasons and then combined that with chapter 4, which meant there's now one less chapter in total.
Also google docs has a neat feature where you can compare docs and apparently I made almost 800 changes??? Some of those are just formatting differences between the docs tho
I'm gonna try and write a couple chapters in the next two weeks and hopefully upload a new chapter early September, and then do a chapter every two weeks.
I also thought I'd be fun to make a "Patch Notes" post to document the changes I made! (only the big ones, I'm not gonna write down every typo I found lol)
I always felt the whole "my parents sold me to the devil" premise of Pretty Little Pet is maybe a little bit too cliché, but at least it let me write stuff like this
“I just don’t understand why you’re doing all this, why you’re being so nice for no reason. No one’s ever done anything like this for me. Not even my parents. And I know they aren’t really nice people, or - or good people but-” Mio had started crying at some point and was interrupted by a hiccuping sob. “But they couldn’t have been treating me worse than a literal devil, right? Parents aren’t supposed to be worse than devils.”
I’m officially putting Pretty Little Pet on hiatus until at least August, possibly longer. I’m still absolutely obsessed with Mio and Raphael, but unfortunately I’m suffering from a combination of writer's block and not enough time. I’m gonna try to be a bit more active on my tumblr livebeginning in the meantime, hoping that it’ll help alleviate the writer’s block!
I also want to do a minor rewrite of the existing chapters. I have to re-read everything anyway, to get a better idea of what is actually in the fic and what’s just in my head, and while I’m at it, I might as well fix some errors and update the writing a bit. There aren’t going to be any story changes, so current readers won’t have to re-read anything. The only major change I’ll make is that I want to canonize Mio’s appearance. If you’ve seen the art I made or the amazing fanart I got, you’ll already know what he looks like. But I think it’d be a bit odd if I only start to describe what a character looks like 40+ chapters into the story, so I’ll add a few paragraphs to the first chapter to describe him and add mentions of his appearance in other chapters where it fits.
I will update the chapters shortly before I return from my hiatus and if the rewrite turns out to change things more than I anticipated, I’ll make a copy of the story as it is right now and upload it as separate work, so people can still read the original if they prefer. The current work will be the one where I’ll add new chapters, so stay subscribed there if you want to get a message when I update!
Hey! So, it’s been a while since I posted a chapter for Pretty Little Pet. I’m still obsessed with Mio and Raphael and think about them basically 24/7, but unfortunately that doesn’t automatically translate to being able to write about them ^^’
One reason is that I’m currently fixated on a part of the story that I’m probably not even going to write, because it’s set very far into the future and involves them having kids. Kid stuff is something I enjoy thinking about, but not so much writing about.
But maybe some of you are interested in at least hearing about my ideas for that part of the story, so here’s some stuff from my notes about the pregnancy and their first child, Israfil:
- Raphael has a brilliant idea: If he can't find a loyal warlock he'll simply make his own (Korrilla is no longer with him at this point)
- Raphael tells Mio he wants a kid so they can become his warlock
- Mio: ok so are you going to buy someone's newborn or trick them into getting pregnant or what?
- R: No, I thought I could just get you pregnant
- Mio: Absolutely not
- R: why not?
- Mio: Because I don't want to be pregnant. And also are you aware how mortals like me feel about their children? Are you really ok with me loving someone else more than you?
- R: Well, they'll be my child too, which makes them essentially an extension of myself. Also, as a mortal, you’re much better suited to carrying children. As a cambion, I’d have to stay in one form the entire pregnancy and I’d have to eat full meals, which you know I despise.
- Mio warms up to the idea of having a child with Raphael and Raphael manages to convince Mio that he should be the one to carry the child (eventually)
- it takes like a month for them to hash out all the details for how they’ll handle the pregnancy and how they will raise the kid
- Mio makes it clear that Raphael cannot hurt them (disciplinary punishments aside) even if they don't end up being the ideal warlock
- Raphael polymorphs Mio so he can carry children (it’s not the first time Mio has had a vagina, he can do that himself with Alter Self, but he couldn’t make a womb and couldn’t make it permanent)
- Mio wakes up one morning, blood staining his sheets
- He panics and calls Raphael
- Raphael laughs and says he's just having his period, it's something that comes with having an uterus
- Mio: No, periods are something that humans and halflings get
- R: ... and orcs.
- Mio: DO I LOOK LIKE AN ORC?! Why the fuck am I having a period Raphael???
- R: Hmm, well, elves have a very irregular cycle, so it would take much longer to get you pregnant. Also… usually when people want to have a uterus I give them the most unpleasant kind.
- Mio: Ok, well, just change it so I don’t have a period and can get pregnant quickly
- R:... I don't know how
- Mio: What?
- R: I don't know the spell to change your uterus that way. But I can make one, just give me a few days.
- Mio: Ok, well, transform me back until then
- R: But that would reset your hormonal cycle! We'd have to start all over.
- Mio: Raphael
- R: give me until tomorrow, if I can’t make a spell until then I'll change you back.
- Mio: Fine.
- Mio has a miserable day experiencing period cramps and bleeding until R manages to make the proper spell
- cue a lot of breeding themed bdsm scenes
- Mio gets pregnant!
- Mio and Raphael both get really into researching everything they can about pregnancy and childcare, picking out baby clothes and setting up a nursery
- Mio is conflicted about whether or not he should breastfeed, he thinks it’d be good for the baby but he doesn’t like having boobs, but in the end he asks Raphael to give him just very small breasts
- The baby is born, it's a boy!
- Raphael wants to name him Raphael Junior, Mio vetoes that decision, anagrams are off the table as well
- They end up agreeing on the name “Israfil” (the name of the angel Raphael in Islam, idk how Raphael would know that)
- Mio calls him Isra or various pet names like “my heart” “my little ray of sunshine”, Raphael calls him Israfil or “son”
- Later Isra calls Mio "Dad" or "Daddy" and Raphael "Father"
- He's a tiefling, looks a lot like Raphael but with pointier ears, like Mio’s. He’s born without horns (as all tieflings are) but when he grows them it’s just one set of horns, smaller but in the same general shape of Raphael’s main pair of horns
- Isra chews on his tail a lot (Raphael doesn’t like it but Mio thinks it’s adorable)
- It’s mainly Mio who takes care of Isra, and while Raphael doesn’t dislike spending time with Isra he doesn’t do it as much as Mio would like
- Mio reminds Raphael that he needs to start bonding with Isra now if he wants to have a close relationship with his son and future warlock
- Mio breastfeeds at first but doesn’t like it at all and after a few months he cannot stand it anymore and asks Raphael to hire a wet nurse so he can fully return to his old body
- One evening, Mio can’t get baby Isra to settle down for bed
- He’s so tired and frustrated he storms into Raphael’s office and hands him Isra, leaves before R can stop him
- Mio tries to get some rest but half an hour later he feels so guilty he goes back to the office
- Raphael is sitting on the sofa, Isra in his arm, reading to him (some contract he’s working on)
- Isra isn’t sleeping yet, but at least he’s calmed down
- Mio lays down on the sofa, head on Raphael’s lap, and slips into trance
- From that night on, Raphael reads a bedtime story to Isra almost every evening
