Just learned that a female athlete over 165lbs is an Athena. I’m 300 and ride a bike so woo!

Today I went for my first ride. I know the results don’t look like much but I’m so proud of myself for going. It’s not in my nature to openly post about personal things like this, but I spent the entire day yesterday trying to find a plus sized cyclist on the internet and couldn’t find a single one (someone please let me know if you know anyone I can follow)! I’ve wasted so much time saying that I’d do something when I was fitter, smaller, etc. Posting this today just in case there are any other plus sized bodies who need to see someone out here doing it — no longer waiting. Someone leaning into the discomfort.

Smiling because I got my bike yesterday and worked up a sweat today just trying to how to use my clipless pedals. Fell a many times. Not picking it up quite as fast as I hoped but then I remembered that this is an opportunity for me to prove that I can persevere. I haven’t done anything to prove that to myself in a while. Can’t wait to become a biker. This is the evolution. Thanks for coming along for the ride (pun intended)
