The staff have no right to search you. They are trained to get lifters to comply by being demanding, threatening, authoritative.

Remember:

Do not follow LP to the back. Continue to try to leave without using violence.

Do not admit to anything. If you need something to say to reply to them to make not admitting anything easier, repeat that you want to leave and that you don't consent to a search.

Do not allow them to search your body or your phone. Some states in the US (EEUU) allow staff to search a bag, but none allow staff to search your body, either over or under your clothes.

If they forcibly search your person, belongings or phone, regardless of whether it is legal in that state, continue to firmly state that you do not consent to a search.

Tiny tip for beginners

when you are planning to fill a bag as much as you can while still being discreet, take essentials (wallet, phone, keys, hand sanitizer, etc) that make sense to have directly on your person and put them in any pockets. nothing is more suspicious that rustling through a bag full of lifted items looking for a wallet to pay, or a key to unlock your car.

OMG i went to dollar general the other day and they now sell little cartons of wine that hold three glasses each. SO easy to fit like 4 in my bag and way less sus than a bigass glass bottle
