My ČV$ is super old and janky. There’s always only one employee working. (Plus pharmacy staff but they’re behind the desk doing their own thing).

I went in tonight for milk and the manager was ringing up a line of about 4 people. I just shopped around and observed. They have those slanted mirrors. And cameras. But I’m assuming nobody is watching the cameras if there’s only 1 dude in the whole store. Do I need to worry about the cameras? I’ve only concealed in dressing rooms so I was too scared.

Some Ultas have the “snapshot” tags now. They literally take a picture of your face. I picked up a palette and set it down and it made a noise and it startled me. The SA was like, “Oh don’t worry! It just takes a picture that’s what the noise was!”

Update: due to inside knowledge of ulta LP, these sensors DO NOT take photos. That is against the law. A store is allowed to have surveillance with cameras but cannot take and store pictures of customers without their knowledge. SECONDLY these sensors work similarly to the internal workings of an iPhone. They sense being “picked up” AKA like the accelerometer inside an iPhone. Ultra’s gotten more sophisticated with these, as these tags will sense being picked up, and then will begin to asses light and dark saturation. If it is A. Picked up and B. Senses a sudden lack of light…it will replicate the effects of shoplifting. THIS TAG EMITS AN OBNOXIOUS NOISE. DO NOT try to take any item with this sensor for now. Soon enough I’m sure there will be something available on the market to overcome this. While I don’t recommend testing this yourself, keeping your phone flashlight on inside your purse may counteract the security here. It will sense being picked up and moved, but when it tries to assess light and dark the flashlight may trick it. The key here is to not let it think it’s “inside” a purse or whatever.

My best guess is that a powerful magnet could easily disable its magnetic balance and that a flashlight would interfere with its light and dark analysis. This technology may seem scary, but truthfully it’s probably not all that complex. My est advice is to avoid this entirely until something in the market comes out or there’s better solutions around it.

sephora doesn’t make you send them a picture but Anastasia Beverly Hills does…Luckily I found a picture on Mercari of a broken Soft Glam Palette and attached my invoice in a picture and got one for free!!

Don’t do this too often but definitely great, esepcially for those “online only” items!!

Stop being a greedy bitch @ ulta

Okay so I went their today and got a few things. Only a few because I already have a shit ton of make up and I have make up literally collecting dust rn because I don’t use it.

So I wanted 2 modern renaissance pallets (one I could use and another one I could put in my make up drawer of un opened make up.) and I asked her where they were at and she said “oh we keep them at the register now.” And I just said “oh okay (:” and kept doing my business. tHEN another worker asked why they kept them By the register and she said “because people are stealing them buy 5’s” and I’m just like?

Guys stop taking a ton of pallets from places. It’s honestly effecting everyone. Just take one or two. Like your ass Doesn’t need 5+ pallets. Even for boosting just take two from each ulta and hit a few different ones.

This is why I’m gonna have to start hitting my local Sephora. It’s 10X harder but fuck they always have the stuff I wanna lift. Like dude stop taking so many pallets at one time from One store. And it’s not even the modern renaissance it’s every urban decay and too faced pallets. So just stop being greedy.

Being greedy also makes it way harder for everyone else to lift because stores will quickly realize their stuff has gone missing and put more effort into enforcing better cameras, LPs/SAs, and crazy tags on palettes and such (like those white beeping square tags with a fucking CAMERA on them).

lemme teach some of y’all a little thing called: on body concealing. obviously you need to be in a blind spot when stuffing shit down your pants, but it’s an excellent way to lift with out drawing the suspicion of a backpack or bag, and gives much more room than a bra. and yeah, all three of these pictures are of me with the listed items in my pants.

Don’t worry, I didn’t steal the moldavite, just used it for example. I bought it from a local witchcraft store and would never lift from a mom and pop shop.
