The Subterranean City

The hagiographer is compelled by his research to descend into _____, a sprawling subterannean city excavated from granite, well-known as the source of a particular genre of music responsible for a significant share of the total broadcast market. Before his visit the hagiographer receives vaccinations against several diseases which are known to have high incidence among the local population.

His contact is a record producer who lives in a modest but well-decorated home near to the surface. The producer explains that many of the residents believe that the city is deliberately kept in poverty due to the beneficial effect this is understood to have on music production.
