Money
Money is a meme.
It used to be made of gold or other metals which had an actual value. Nowadays it is the IDEA of money that matters. Money is, like all memes an idea which is shared by a culture and which can grow, change and spread like a human gene does in the body.
A hundred dollar bill is worth what you and I agree it is worth. It is no coincidence that the American 100 bill is still the currency of choice for criminals. They have faith in the U.S. dollar. They share the IDEA of the United States.
Money is just a meme.
