Tips to improve your mental health
In my previous post I told you about my Panic attacks and how to improve your mental health and I just wanted to post my tips again for all the people who felt too lazy to read the whole text haha <3 My text was about learning to leave the house again and to be able to go outside again but maybe my tips can also help you with something else. :)
My tips are to do really small steps. You donāt need to rush. Take yourself time to heal and donāt expect too much in the beginning. Itās normal to do steps backwards and especially in the beginning itās normal to take breaks and to fail some days. Itās just important that you donāt give up and to set yourself a daily and a long term goal. Donāt be too disappointed when you canāt reach your daily goal. No one is perfect and we are no robots. A daily goal could be walking to a specific place close by and next day you walk a bit further but donāt do it with pressure. You have to want it and you will not succeed if you donāt feel motivated. What helped me is to listen to music at the same time. Especially in the beginning I felt how important the music was. When I couldnāt listen to music I would get a panic attack much easier. Donāt take a too long pause. I tried working on myself almost every day but I also took a break on some days. Sometimes I stopped working on myself and after 1 week of not doing anything I noticed how I started to feel worse again and it was harder to do the things I already did the previous week.
Update and how I managed to leave the house again
Hi Guys :) Itās been a very long time posting here. I only posted like 2 pictures of my dog this year and I couldnāt answer any messages which makes me feel bad. But i just wanted to give you a little update and some tips for those who are in a similar situation as I was last year. Many people can see how I felt when they look at my old posts. I felt misunderstood, anxious every day and lonely. 1 year ago at this time I couldnāt even leave my house. I couldnāt leave it at all. Some days I couldnāt even leave my room. And 1 year ago I thought I will really never be able to go out of this house again, ever. I felt trapped and I was really happy and proud of myself when I could go in the garden because even that was super hard for me. No one except my family and my boyfriend knew about it. I canāt even explain it myself how I got out of this situation all by myself but I did it :) It all started when my mum told me we would get a dog. I wanted to have a dog for a long time and for many reasons. I grew up with pets all my life and they always helped me feel calm and feel happy. I had a lovely dog from the Animal Shelter before and she was very supportive but sadly passed away many years ago. I just knew a dog would make me feel motivated again, give me responsibility and make me happy. So my mum decided to get a White Shepherd for me in hope it would help me. My favorite dog breed ever <3 Just knowing that changed so much in me. I started to do small steps and to progress. The first step was leaving the house without getting a panic attack. It was really hard at first but I knew I would have to go to the dog breeder who lived 40 minutes away from home. And thatās a really big distance for someone who canāt leave the house. my boyfriend helped me so much during this time and I was so proud of myself when I managed to go further and further away from home. Driving car for the first time after such a long time felt completely different and I couldnāt even drive for 1 minute without getting a panic attack. One week later I could drive to the next village and the week after this I was able to drive to the city which is about 10 minutes away. and I continued and continued and never gave up and after a while I noticed my panic attacks getting less and less. No one is perfect and we are no robots.Ā A daily goal could be walking to a specific place close by and next day you walk a bit further but donāt do it with pressure. You have to want it and you will not succeed if you donāt feel motivated.Ā What helped me is to listen to music at the same time. Especially in the beginning I felt how important the music was. When I couldnāt listen to music I would get a panic attack much easier.Ā Donāt take a too long pause. I tried working on myself almost every day but I also took a break on some days. Sometimes I stopped working on myself and after 1 week of not doing anything I noticed how I started to feel worse again and it was harder to do the things I already did the previous week. Be proud of yourself!!!! You should always think about that you are a super strong person and even the smallest step is a huge achievement for you and you should feel so happy about that. I was always comparing myself to the people who donāt have panic attacks and it made me cry so many times and yes Iām still doing it... but you canāt compare yourself to someone who never experienced something like that. Who knows how they would handle a panic disorder? They would probably feel exactly the same way as you and as I said before, no one is perfect and even the people who seem to be very happy and lucky struggle with something. Ā 2-3 Months later I got Aleksi, my dog and he changed me so much. Since heās with me I am a completely different person. I am much more confident, the last panic attack is weeks ago and no medication or psychotherapy ever made me feel so good. 1 year ago I was worrying every single day for many hours and I had several panic attacks every day and now I am going out every single day, donāt worry as much as I used to and feel free again. And no Iām not panic free. I still get panic attacks from time to time and I started to go to a psychotherapist to improve myself even more as I am still unable to go to work and still struggle to take a bus or the train but I feel so much better than last year and I am so proud of myself that I did all of this myself without any help :) Thanks so much for reading everything, it means much to me and I hope I could help someone <3Ā
Some months ago I posted a picture of my new puppy Aleksi :) this is Aleksi now. He's so big already and he still helps me so much with my panic attacks. 1 year ago at this time of the year I couldn't even leave the house because I would get a panic attack and I got them every single day but now they reduced so much šš
Hi! I was inactive for quite some time and that's because there was a lot going on. I felt very bad last year and couldn't even leave the house but that changed again :) I tried going outside further and further almost every day and set myself small goals and now I'm finally being able to go to city and drive to places that are far away from home! I know it's normal to some people to do stuff like this but it made me really proud to finally be able to do these things again and I did it all myself and with the help of my boyfriend! And another positive thing is that I'm owning a new dog for 1 week now. He's a white Swiss shepherd and 9 weeks old atm! His name is Aleksi and he's also making me so much better! Knowing I will get him made me look forward to something and made me more hopeful and believing in myself š

Donāt tell me to ācalm downā Donāt say, āit isnāt that seriousā Donāt repeatedly say ājust relaxā I have panic disorder, IT DOES NOT WORK LIKE THAT. Chemical imbalances are real, and I canāt control when my mind is thrown out of whack. I can not control when my body goes into fight or flight mode. What you can do: Distract me by watching a funny movie, go on a walk with me, talk about a book youāre reading, or we can even bake some cookies. Never tell a person with anxiety that itās not that serious, because mentally they feel like theyāre in a life threatening situation.
I have panic attacks since I'm 12 years old. Now I'm 19 and I still didn't meet one single person who understands me or doesn't judge me because of it :(

What they say: I accept everyone with a mental illness
What they mean: I can sometimes tolerate people who have mental illnesses as long as they manage to never show any symptoms
When people use your panic attacks as an argument in a fight that have absolutely nothing to do with the reason of the fight just because they don't know what else to say š
