In the style of the show 'Arrested Development' complete with the same narrator ; the twins suddenly find themselves running the Empire after their father was suddenly exiled (to which the show will slowly reveal why over time).
*** this is way funnier if you watched the show and get what I'm referencing

RE: one of my last posts about realizing Caracalla loves Indian textiles; Now that I have better direction and research, I am finding insanely close matches. I don't know what it is about this cosplay but getting closer to movie accurate has been so satisfying.
Also found this dupatta available with the same beaded "dot" base... I'm internally screaming that I didn't find all this before
Thank you for loving the concept but, as I mentioned, I'm not a strong writer. I'm really good at creating a bunch of connecting ideas but not so great with connecting them into a cohesive story with dialogue and such. I think my adhd makes it hard to get the story to flow correctly without rambling or going in weird directions.
I'm used to creating short original skits for cosplay content because it's less pressure but still gets my idea out there.
If some someone else wants to write it, I would love that*

[Sad/angst/ comfort] set in modern day Rome, OC visits the colosseum like many other tourists only their experiences are always much different when they visit historic sites.
NOTES:
> OC is something like a medium ; able to feel and hear residual energy especially if events of great importance happened there. More faded depending on how much time has passed
> OC feels an unexpected strong energy coming from an upper level restricted to visitors
> its strong enough that OC can see an apparition fade in and out
> its Caracalla; still in purple and gold finery. This is not residual energy though, he's still here confined to a small area where the imperial box once existed.
> He has a startled expression when he notices OC is staring directly at him
> OC is just as startled at seeing an ghost for the first time
> Caracalla is still here because a) he's not understanding what happened to him (being dead) and b) nobody has guided him or told him to move on.
> Caracalla is more docile from 1000+ years of crying, screaming, and confusion not being able to communicate with anyone. His voice is more quiet and hoarse and he has permanent dried tears and blood running down his face and neck.
Basically the story is OC making it their mission to sneak up there after hours to help him . This is not supposed to be a "OC falls in love with ghost" trope but a story about letting go of the past, working through trauma ( from both OCs backstory and Caracalla's) with some comedic parts such as:
- historically accurate language barriers (*like if Fred is speaking in the OG Greek/Latin they should) even Google is 100% sure what he is saying. This makes sense as some acknowledge we have on the ancient world is in theory and it's possible we're mispronouncing or misusing words.
-historically accurate god complex from Caracalla: " who and why is this plain common person talking to me? Are you a servant? What language is this?"
- fear of technology coming from Caracalla
-OC trying to Google ways to make ghosts move on
- failed rituals with funny outcomes
- OC learning about real ancient Rome from the souce while laughing and making corrections in a textbook
- OC accidently upsetting Cara with the current map of the world
- Caracalla's cute attempts at broken English
I think this would be a multi day task of OC trying to gain some trust and figure out why Caracalla is "stuck" here. There could be a lot of dark themes around his fear of what's next and in acknowledging that he wasn't particularly a good person.
It would end with Caracalla moving on, of course. Having let go and accepted what he needed to.

Epilogue: Caracalla leaves something like a thank you note that roughly translates to a broken :
"you have done great service. You are still plain! Would you like decorations? I have many, you can take to wear as much as you want.:"

Part of me feels guilty that if I'm asked "what were some of the last things you read?" my mind defaults to fanfics when I know they 100% meant books.
I think I find it easier to get engrossed in fanfic when I already have a visual and audio reference for characters that already exist in other forms of media.
I've been in fandoms that have "that one fic" that is so well known it has a fandom within its fandom .
Even though they aren't published authors, I really should get over the shame of not believing it counts as reading.
This deleted scene has me noticing that his entourage legit give the impression they are his friends, not just attendants forced to follow him around. They look so happy to be there! He wasn't even facing them so they had no reason to look this happy.
I wonder if, at this point, his illness has made him kinder and maybe even more generous with gifts and privileges. There definitely feels like there is something softer to him now.
If the plot was moving along differently, imagine him bringing all his people into the royal box* 🤣
