Soooo, I'm not going to finish this, but I figured I'd post the rough draft of this idea anyways... Enjoy!
Idea: Huey is excited to have Louie and Dewey at his Woodchuck Weekend since it's become rare that his brothers come with him to any of the events anymore.
While he's trying to show them a good time though, Louie and Dewey realize that Huey's actually being bullied and is constantly being pushed around by the other Woodchucks. They want to know why Huey doesn't just use the Duke to get them to back off and Huey tells them it's not that serious.
When they try to step in to defend him when Huey's back is turned a constant back and forth happens between Dewey and Louie VS the other Woodchuck members (Mostly Bully Beagle and his minions and Doofus).
Louie and Dewey end up with a fair number of scrapes on themselves that they hide from their brother, but at one point when Huey goes off to get supplies while everyone else is sitting around the campfire getting ready to make smores, Louie gets in a verb spat with Bully Beagle who ends it by shoving Louie off the log he was sitting on which actually knocks the wind out of Louie and nearly leaves him nearly concussed.
This is the moment that Huey comes back and demands to know what's going on in an eerily calm manner. Bully Beagle laughs asking if he's finally 'struck a nerve' (hence the title) and Huey pounces on him.
It ends with Huey and his bros properly patched up (by Huey most likely), and after making sure that Louie's okay and not actually concussed, happily eating smores together by the fire and finally being left alone to enjoy their weekend together.
This was the first DT fic I wrote, so it’s kinda a deal for me to finally post it.
Hope you enjoy it!

Dewey takes another step closer to the propeller of the Sunchaser, another step closer to the final piece of the photo of proof, another step closer to the truth. The propeller moves just out of his hold as he reaches out and keeps moving…and moving…and moving…and the next one pushes him off the wing, slices through his body, hot red blood spouts from every part of him as he screams. He spins around and around, blood whirls and drips’ and gushes and bursts and screams at him to wake up.
And he did.
He hit his head against Huey’s bunk. It cut his scream into a moan. His footie-pajamas where slick with sweat. Too slick.
“Aw, phooey.”
He threw his pillow to the floor and kicked off his blanket in frustration that couldn’t be silent. He grabbed his sheet and pulled it off the mattress as he jumped to the floor. Running out the door and into the bathroom, he unzipped his useless PJs and threw them on the floor. He wiped himself with wipes and itched his itchy feathers. Grabbing his PJs from the cold tiles he stalked back to his room, grabbed the sheet and blanket from the floor and dragged then down the hall. Usually he’d have forgotten how to work the washing machine, if he’d ever known how, but this one worked the same as Uncle Donald’s and he’d had to know how to work that one for chores. And Uncle Scrooge’s was harder to overflow anyway. He stuffed his blue cloths in the machine and turned it on. He’d switch it to the dryer in the morning and Mrs B would never know.
He didn’t care that he walked naked to the linen closet, Duckworth wasn’t going to be doing chores at this unknowable hour, dead or otherwise. He grabbed a blanket and sheet that seemed to be the same color as the ones he’d disposed of, he didn’t want his nosey family getting suspicious in the morning, and dragged them back to his room.
He opened his closet and grabbed his spare pajamas to wear. Then he stuck two corners of the sheet beneath his mattress, he knew from experience he couldn’t get all four corners in without groaning loud enough to drown Uncle Donald’s snores out and he’d prefer if his twins stayed asleep, so he left the sheet unmade and brought his pillow and blanket up, bundling into a blanket burrito and staring at Louie’s leg hanging off the bunk below to make him forget the dream until he fell back asleep.
~~~
Dewey woke in the morning at the usual time, if more groggy than usual. He rubbed his eyes and yawned, tongue waving around in his beak. He crawled down the ladder rungs, careful not to disturb Louie’s delicate morning slumber and waddled into the bathroom, where Huey was flossing his freshly brushed beak. He smiled at his brother.
“Good morning!”
“Hey,” Dewey couldn’t match his brothers enthusiasm.
“How’d you sleep?”
“Fine.” Dewey picked up a comb and busied himself with brushing his hair feathers up.
“Got tangled in your sheets again, didn’t you?”
“M-hm.” Dewey pretended concentration on his hair.
“Any weird dreams?”
Dewey just shrugged and glared at the mirror, telling his older brother the conversation was over. Huey took the que and picked up a brush to smooth his own hair. After the ten strokes it took to banish his bedhead he put it down and made eye contact.
“Did you make a mistake?”
“NO!” The comb clattered on the floor. “I did not make ‘a mistake’! I don’t do that! In fact, I’m offended that you’d even suggest such a thing!” He crossed his arms and leaned against the wall, seething and embarrassed.
“There’s too much evidence for that to work.” Huey said, annoyingly cocky.
Dewey slid down the wall until he could hide his trembling bill behind his knees. “I dunno what you’re talkin’ ‘bout.” He mumbled.
Huey knelt to pick up the fallen comb. “It’s okay. You were obviously under a lot of stress and your body lost a bit of control. It’s normal.”
“Normal for babies.”
“I meant that it’s not bad. There’s an explanation for it and it’s cause is known.”
“Yeah, cause your science solves everything.”
Huey put on his “big brother” voice. “Dewford, you’re acting like a baby.”
“Well I wet my bed like one so why not?!” He rubbed his fists into his eyes, banishing the wetness that had abruptly gathered there.
Huey scooted next to his little brother. “Was there a bad dream?”
Dewey nodded, his body betraying him.
Huey cautiously put an arm on his brothers shoulder. “Wanna tell me about it?”
Dewey shook his head.
“I think it’ll help.”
“Phooey.”
“Maybe if we figure out what happened in the dream that made you do it, we could figure out how to stop you from dreaming about it.”
Dewey curled up tighter but Huey just slid beside him, their sides touching.
“You’ll laugh.”
“Have I ever laughed when you were crying before?”
“I’m not crying.”
“Have I?”
“…no.”
“Good. Then talk to me.”
“You’ll call me a baby.”
“No I won’t.”
“Yeah you will.”
“No I won’t.”
“Yeah you will.”
“You’re not a baby, so why would I call you one? It’s factually incorrect. Please tell me.”
“You’ll think I’m a coward.”
“Dewey…” Huey put his arm around his brother. “If we didn’t live amongst living legends I’d say you’re the bravest person I know. I’ll never, ever think you’re a coward, cause you aren’t. And no amount of fear could make you one.”
Dewey didn’t respond.
“But, if you keep sitting there not telling me cause you’re scared then I’m afraid to tell you that that is the dictionary’s definition of a coward so I’d have to name you one.”
Dewey mumbled something unintelligible into his arms.
“Speak up Dew, I can’t help if I can’t hear you.”
Dewey rested the side of his head against his crossed arms. “You’re being bossy.” He announced.
“Comes with the birthright.” He wiggled closer. Dewey sighed and closed his eyes.
“I was on the wing of the Sunchaser reaching for the final piece of the Spear of Selene photo on the propeller. Uncle Scrooge was coming after me. Then he fell off the wing. Then Uncle Donald was in the window next to you guys and he told me to come back but I ignored him. Then he looked so mad and pressed a button and the propeller moved away from me and then it hit me and I started bleeding out and screaming and I woke up.” Dewey gasped as he said the last lines. He’d started shaking and Huey hadn’t registered when he’d wrapped both hands around his brother and held him close. He needed a few moments to banish the images his mind was rapidly making up before he spoke.
“Oh man, that’s scary. I think I just wet my pants.”
“You’re not wearing pants, doofus.”
“So that’s why my tail feathers are sticking up like that.”
Dewey giggled. He slid his arms around Huey’s waist. Huey closed his eyes.
“It’s okay. Wetting your bed when you dream of your basically-dad killing you with lots of blood doesn’t make you a coward. In fact, telling me just now was really brave.”
“Ya think?” Dewey looked up at his big brother.
“I know.”
Dewey smiled big and bright, his tears already dried up. “I guess it coulda been worse.” He mused.
“Exactly.” Huey said. “It’s just urine. It’s sterile, so its not even germ filled. It washes out without leaving stains and actually contains che-”
“Sorry Hue, but urine ruined the moment.”
“Well, it usually does.” Huey said with a twinkle in his eye.
“Ew! I am never confiding in you ever again!” Dewey announced as he pulled back from his brother.
“Who then? Louie? And let it get all over the internet?”
“Then I’ll talk to Webby.”
“She’ll tell her diary and then it’s blackmail.”
“Uncle Donald…?”
“Grown up.”
“…Scrooge?”
“Uh, older.”
“Okay fine! I’ll keep telling you stuff. Just don’t tell me your stuff.”
“Come on! Don’t you want to at least learn how to put a sheet on a bed?”
“No thank you, I’m good.”
“If you let me teach you how to put on a sheet I’ll show you the very fun practice of short-sheeting a bed.”
“What’s that?”
“It’s when you make someone’s bed in such a way that they can’t get under the covers.”
In unison, they grinned mischievously.
“Louie.”
This story came to be because I thought that bit where Della asked if the boys are potty trained and Dewey answers sort of was so gosh darn funny that I had to write something about it. And then angst happened. Because I am weak and cruel.
I know I’m not the first to come up with this idea but I don’t know who also did so I sadly can’t tag them. I can however tag @stevenfallsvs because they love Huey fics and so do I!
I also really like that the dream is present tense but the rest of the fic is past. I think it’s really effective, jarring and discombobulating when its over, simulating the waking from a dream feeling the character is feeling. Dose that mean its cheating? (I stole that idea from an unfinished fic of mine, its half dream and half not and is more effective there, but I like it here too.)
I'm so excited for this! I am absolutely projecting with this one lol! /pos /hj
Tw: mentions of feeling left out, there's only a smidge of angst I swear the rest is fluff!
Platonic only they are brothers!!!!
No spoilers for any episodes so we are good!
And with all that being said I hope you enjoy!
Babysitting Dew-tys
Being the oldest comes with the most responsibility, Luckily Huey loved responsibility but sometimes it was challenging. Being the youngest ment getting away with everything and no responsibility, Louise's favorite things. Being the middle child it almost felt lonely. Dewey had grown accustom to this feeling and kept himself entertained most days. The bond Huey and Louie share is so close he just stopped trying to get in the middle of it. This feeling faded after he met Webby! The pair were almost inseparable but today the feeling was back and he wasn't sure how to navigate it this time.
Today the duck family decided to take everyone out for the day! Webby had gone to a secret island already; they left a few days prior and the plan was to meet up with them at the end of the day and take everyone home but because of his current mood Dewey just didn't feel like going anywhere.
No one in the family trusted Dewey to be home alone so Huey offered to stay behind and take care of him for the day. Inside this made Dewey light up but on the outside he just shrugged. After some careful thinking they decided to allow Huey this responsibility. Huey thanked them and told Louie to bring him some treasure back to which the duck in green smiled and agreed.
"We'll be back later on tonight, you can order a pizza for dinner if you get hungry and we got food in the house for snacks, just no leaving this house you understand?" Uncle scrooge said to the pair as they nodded
"Yes uncle Scrooge" They said in unison, hugging everyone before they left. As the car drove off there was not a peep in the mansion, it was still and calm, a really nice and rare atmosphere.
Dewey gently sighed as he turned to his older brother "You really didn't have to, I know you wanted to go out today, I would've been fine alone"
Huey smiled as he put his hand on his younger brothers shoulder "It's fine Dewey! Someone needs to take care of you, might as well be me!"
Dewey huffed taking his hand off of him staring back outside the window "I can take care of myself you don't need to babysit me anymore"
It started to sprinkle, the sound of the droplets hitting the roof was soothing, Huey sat next to him placing his head in his hand also staring out the window in front of them
"What if I wanted to babysit you?" Huey smirked lightly as Dewey rolled his eyes trying not to crack a smile
"Yeah? Well I don't need it so keep dreaming"
Huey's smirk grew as he spoke again "So you don't want to hang out with me?" Huey asked trying to crack him
Dewey broke as he turned to face his oldest brother "Hey, wait! I never said that!" He defened himself. That's exactly what he wants, it's what he's wanted for years now!
Huey giggled as he faced the duck in blue
"Hueyy not funny!" Dewey crossed his arms looking away from Huey once more
"Sohorry! But that was the only way I knew I could getcha!" He smiled rubbing Dewey's back gently as he continued "You don't think I haven't noticed?"
Dewey tilted his head confused as he looked at Huey "noticed what?"
Huey sighed lightly "I know you've been feeling alone and left out again, I can see it in your eyes Dew, I knew what was wrong the minute Webby left, it all hit you at once today huh?"
Dewey looked down in embarrassment as Huey continued "there's nothing to be embarrassed about Dewey, This is my fault, I know I spend way to much time with Louie but I want to work on it and spend more time with you! And balance everything out! That's the real reason I offered to watch you, you don't need babysitting but I wanted to hang out with you! Will you ever forgive me?" Huey gave him his puppy dog eyes as Dewey lightly pushed him
"Of course I forgive you and I'm sorry for even feeling like this to begin with, I just want to hang out with my older brother"
"Never apologize for feeling natural human emotions you hear me?" Huey said softly as Dewey nodded opening his arms out for a hug that Huey happily accepted.
"Nohow what?" Dewey said after the hug gesturing to his surroundings for emphasis on his question
Huey let out a 'hmm' placing a finger to his chin as he thought about it in his head, Dewey waited patiently before Huey's facial features turned slowly into a smirk
"Let's play a game~" he said out loud eyeing his younger triplet with mischievous intent
Dewey gulped before he spoke and scooted back gently "w-what kind of game?"
"Hide and Tickle~"
"D-dont you mean Hide and Seek?" Dewey held back the nervous giggles as Huey's features became more prominent
"Not the way I play it~" Huey wiggled his fingers teasingly at the duck in blue before Dewey booked it. Trying to find a place to hide in a huge mansion filled with hidden rooms was surprisingly more difficult than it seems at first glance.
The sound of Huey's counting could be heard in the distance Dewey's heart raced with excitement and anticipation as he looked for a spot to hide! He was trying so hard to hold back his giggles but he just couldn't! It's been so long since he's had this much fun! Adventures are fun yes but he means child- like fun like this! Full of wonder and excitement! Just him and his older bro!
He ended up hiding behind a filled up armor stand, out of sight in a hidden room behind a bookshelf! It was perfect! No one would ever suspect a thing! It was a full proof plan!
"99,,,,,100! READY OR NOT HERE I COME!~" Huey's voice echoed through the mansion as he announced his staus; Let the games begin!
After a while Huey's voice kept getting further away and then super close! As he paced the floors of McDuck Manor
"Oh Deweyyyyy~ come out come out wherever you areee~"
Dewey's heart was beating so loud he swore everyone could hear it, he bit his bill as he heard the hidden door spin around revealing the tickle monster in red that was now only inches away from him!
Huey hummed as he walked over to the armor stand 'admiring' it's beauty "Wow! Look at this metal and the way it was crafted. Such fine detail, I wonder how many degrees the fire was that they used to craft such artwork!" Huey smirked as he touched the armor that Dewey was behind, The duck in blue squeezing his eyes shut as Huey spoke
"Very interesting it says here in my junior woodchuck guidebook that this metal was actually named 'Dewey I found you' how crazy is that"
Dewey froze in place, his eyes widened before Huey's face popped up in front of his face "Boo!" Dewey yelled and fell to the ground scooting as much as he could away from Huey as he approached closer and closer with wiggling fingers
"I found youuu~"
"H-huehey we can talk about this!" His back hit the wall as he squeaked putting his arms out in front of him for self defense this made Huey laugh even further as he straddled his brothers legs moving Dewey's hands above him
"Giggling already are we Dewford~" Huey was in full tickle monster mode, there was no stopping him now "you know it's not nice to keep the tickle monster waiting Dew"
Dewey giggled in anticipation kicking his legs out unable to speak
"I win~" Huey said before gently digging all ten didgets into his stomach
"HUEHEheHeuUYyyy!" Dewey put his arms down as he scrunched in on himself trying to escape but making no real efforts too
"Did you get more ticklish since the last time I tickled you?~" Huey teased as he skittered up and down the length of the youngers sides
"AHAHAhahAha! HEheHey! I DID NoHAHAHA NOHOHOT THEHEHERE HUHUHUEEEY!!!" Dewey tried to defend himself through giggles before his laughter increased as Huey skittered up to his ribs
"Oh?~ not here you sayy~" Huey smirked as he gently squeezed up and down his ribs
Dewey covered his face as he threw his head back laughing. Huey smirked before blowing raspberries into his ribs as Dewey squealed
"NOHOHOHOT THE RAHAHASBERRIES!"
"Yes the raspberries! I'm getting hungry raspberries aren't enough I think instead of pizza for dinner tonight I'll enjoy some ribs!" he teased as he gently bit at Dewey's ribs
"HUEHEHEHEYYYY HAHAHAHA MHEHEHERCYY!! MEHEHERCYYY!" Dewey called out through his laughter as Huey giggled with him rubbing away the ghost tickles and getting off of him.
"Did I go to far?"
"Neheherp!" Dewey giggled as he caught his breath
"I actually am getting hungry though so do you want me to order that pizza soon?"
"Yehes please" Dewey said as he got up
"Perfect, how about we play another round while we wait~" Huey teased with wiggling fingers causing Dewey to squeak and push him lightly
"Ohonly if I get to be it this round!"
"Uh oh-"
"GET BACK HERE HUEY!"
This was going to be a long, laughter filled night, and they couldn't have dreamed of anything better than that!
This my my designs for the triplets and the McDuck girls. Plus Violet too!! I wanted to differentiate them from canon designs as I wanted to have my own twist on it and yes Dewey is dating
redraw from 2024, can’t believe it's been almost two years already. and I still haven't moved on from the cutest little duck family ever, literally who could? think it's physically impossible to ever fully move on from this show.
also shameless plug here but if you want to read a very normal and completely not sad or gut wrenching story that definitely won’t make you cry then you need to read this!! it's my first time writing a della-centric story but like I said it's TOTALLY only happy and no sadness involved at all. DONT look too close at the title—that's to throw people off.
ALSO CAN WE TALK ABOUT HOW CUTE DEWEY IS HERE
