Premise

Elizabeth T’Les Tucker is saved by Doctor Phlox’s more ethical interpretations of Dr. Arik Soong’s genetic code writing. It also ignores Trip’s death as depicted in the final episode of ENT, “These Are the Voyages.”

Timeline

Liz was made in 2154. Due to her genetic instability, she was hospitalized in a secure facility, with mostly denobulan and human scientists in charge of cataloging her medical needs.

Her first port was installed a few days after her first birthday in June of 2155.

In 2157, Trip and T’Pol choose to raise Lizzie on earth and remain in service of Starfleet. Trip became one of the lead developers of high-yield warp, experimenting with warp 7 in the middle of the Romulan Wars. T’Pol served in Starfleet intelligence for a brief stint as a tactician before becoming a cultural liaison at the Vulcan embassy.

She entered Starfleet Academy in 2172.

Elizabeth is disabled due to the mistakes in her genetic coding. In 2175, after several failed simulations, she was informed that she couldn’t be in space for the periods of time required to sustain a mission. After completing her studies, Elizabeth chose to serve in different positions. She becamse an engineer like her father in 2177, concentrating on the Shipwright Division. In 2184 Elizabeth expanded her contributions by becoming an Academy professor, teaching different classes: the Vulkhansu language, flight history, theoretical engineering, and her infamous astrophysics class.

With the medical advancements in the 2230s, specifically in hybrid cases, Liz underwent now-possible modifications to her omni-port that could sustain her without constant medical check-ins. With this upgrade, Elizabeth could safely take deep space assignments, which she did for the first time in 2235. Her father was very proud to hear she’d chosen the engineering department yet again.

She ranked up to Commander in 2245.

On April 5th, 2263, on the two hundredth anniversary of First Contact, Lizzie accepted a position refurbishing an old vessel class for improved service, the often-joked about J-class.

Elizabeth and her team were scrutinized for the deaths of several cadets and the decommissioning of Fleet Captain Christopher Pike after a critical accident aboard the Republic in October of 2269.

After working against a bureaucracy overrun by hidden Terra Prime agents, Elizabeth joined the crew of the USS Progress in 2273 as Captain Pike’s Science Officer.

So, its January 6th. It was today. The worst ion storm in recent history, the one that has me stuck here, brought along something I'd been dreading.

It brought me a mirror. It brought me a baby.

What’s worse is that he isn’t mine, or remotely related to me. He’s just the son of some stuffy guy from House Surak and his human teacher wife.

But from what I’ve managed to hear in this awful signal, he’s fine. His name is Spock, and the humans are placing bets on who he looks like the most. I have a hunch it’s his mother—even though the Vulcans won’t admit it.

I’m stuck in a house with barely any signal, almost a week late for opening lectures back on Earth, and what do I do? Think about things that don’t pertain to me.

Alright, they may. A little—a lot.

I grew up on Earth, with parents who didn’t even know I existed, with a cobbled-together family that sort of guessed their way into making me a good person. I chose Vulcan teachings as they came—because, come on, they didn’t kill each other, so something in those bowl cuts clicked!

Spock? This little guy? I’m not too sure what’s gonna become of him. He was born on the stiffer of the two planets—genes all mapped out so he’d be fine, atmosphere, customs, and psychic skills around him honed so he’d be just so.

Tailored so he wouldn’t. . .end up being another me.

And I usually don’t get thinking about the part of me that’s a screwed over science experiment used for shock value, but I think that now that there’s two hybrids in this universe, I have to ask myself, “Did I like being found?”

Did I like being lucky enough to have the perfect set of friends, the most attentive set of parents?

Living like an alien isn’t really an option when you luck out of being caught by your makers multiple times. I wonder how alien Spock’s going to be.

I wonder if he’s ever going to be worried over by those who love him. I wonder if there’s always going to be that side of him that knows he’s not perfect. I wonder if he’s ever going to ask stupid questions about a planet he’s never seen.

I wonder which of us has the better heritage—if what we both have can be called a heritage at all.

Gosh, spanning two worlds with your thoughts hurts about as much as an actual ship trip between them—

We have some familiar faces. Una as the first officer, Ash Tyler as Tactical Officer, Dr. M'Benga as the CMO, and even Dr. Boyce, all the way from TOS, as Pike's caretaker.

Then we have my OCs, Stanna Dashi, the comms officer and Pike's interpreter, as well as T'Pella and Reese from the Medical staff.

And finally, the woman next to M'Benga is Elizabeth T'Les Tucker, who once worked as Science Officer in the Progress. She's from my friend @sharonz-arty-corner03's AU from Star Trek Enterprise, where Trip and T'Pol's hybrid baby Elizabeth survives. She's here as a cameo, because her AU and stories span beyond much more than this and you should definitely check it out.

OK! The episodes you need to watch are Season 4 episodes 20-21, “Demons” and “Terra Prime.” I also usually reference a couple of AC Crispin’s non-canon novels, and heavily rely on TOS for inside jokes.

Personal Details

Her favorite food is plomeek pho, a classmate’s synthesizer mistake at the academy that actually ended up tasting great.

Elizabeth doesn’t mind switching between “before I was made” and “before I was born” when she’s talking to people who are totally aware of her origins.

Liz, aged nine, attempted to make a Porthos-sized rocket. She was very disappointed to find out why calling the ship the Laika wasn’t a good idea.

Starfleet engineers in Professor Tucker’s class are required to send in LEGO models of their propositions for a grade.

Elizabeth was not in charge of designing the NCC-1701, but she did design its shuttles.

Elizabeth likes to annoy emotionally compromise her mother by live-dubbing sappy movie scenes into Vulkhansu.

Fully grown, Elizabeth is almost her father’s height, which she finds amusing. Admiral Archer and T’Pol don’t get the humor at all.

Something else Elizabeth got from her father is her accent. She isn’t afraid to go on a Vulcan Lecture with full Southern passive-aggression. Her favorite word is “illawjical.”

Elizabeth looks very Vulcan whenever she’s formally dressed for a gala or Starfleet officer gathering.

Due to her medical implant, Elizabeth’s fashion tastes are either baggy or slightly revealing. She doesn’t mind leaving her implant exposed if she knows she’ll be staying safe.

Elizabeth has only been to Vulcan five times in her entire life, and four of those were for Starfleet reasons. The fifth was a family vacation which somehow ended with her mother at the bottom of a water fountain.

Elizabeth’s headband used to be a precaution her parents gave her when she first went to school—a way to cover the tips of her ears in case Terra Prime was lurking around the corner. When Elizabeth and her parents learned to let of of their fears, the bandana became Liz’s symbol of pride in her unique biology. She is rarely seen without a bandana keeping her hair up.

I’m very honored and overjoyed to say that Lizzie’s career quite literally grew with my friendship to @hard-times-paramore, and her including my interpretation of Lizzie on her ship was one of my biggest fandom honors ever.

We’ve been coordinating an effort to do more with Lizzie and Pike, so stay tuned!
