They had met before, but they had forgotten each other, and the days passed without each other their worlds turned back to black and white.Â
a woman with vibrant red hair came rushing out of the publishing office on 5th street her leather messenger bag was hitting her side as she hugged her sweater close to her as tears threatened to spill out of her ocean colored eyes. She pushed her way in between New York foot traffic wishing her hardest to just get home and out of the public, she knew she could break down at any moment. On the lenses of her horn-rimmed glasses droplets of water began to appear and she just continued walking still making it her mission to get home, especially no that it had begun raining. She decided to stop in a small coffee shop to wait out the rain and maybe take some time to herself, hopefully allowing her to calm down. As she entered the small whole in the wall coffee shop, a bell rang above the door and a few sets of eyes glanced at the soaking wet woman who entered the shop but quickly adverted their eyes at the sight of her. The looks she got from the people in the shop made her anxiety rise and her hands began to shake sightly. She let her petite feet lead her to the wooden counter where a young man with a name tag with his name neatly scribbled onto it. âHi, what can I get you?â he asked with a small smile to hopefully welcome her, âUh, just a tea please.â She mumbled out as she went to grab her wallet from her bag. In means of getting it she would have to pull out the script fro her book that just got rejected by her publisher, again. She gently placed it on the counter and wasnât paying attention to what the boy was doing. She then grabbed the money to pay and held the papers close to her chest after paying. âYou can grab a seat, iâll bring it over to you.â He aid softly handing her the receipt. She just nodded and her body made itâs way tot he back of the shop as the boy watched her with curious eyes.  âDraco, get to work on the poor girls order.â his boss barked at him. âyeah, yeah, sorry.â he stuttered out shaking his head as he realized his vision wasnât as bland as it was only five minutes ago. Draco shook it off as just a trick his vision was playing on him. He quickly made the drenched red headâs tea and made his way over to the booth she was sitting at scribbling in the large stack of papers she had sitting in front of her. âUh heâs your tea.â He awkwardly spoke snapping her out of her trance. âThank you,â She softly said taking the tea from the brown haired man in front of her. âUh, what are you working on?â He shyly asked hoping not to upset or bother her. âOh, just my book that got rejected.â She said with venom dripping in her words. âIâm sorry.â he said starting to turn away, but she stopped him. âNo, itâs okay, my publisher is just a bitch thatâs all.â she met his gaze and something she never expected to come out slipped from her mouth. âWould you wanna take a look?âHer eyes widened in a panic. âIf you donât want to I completely understanding seeing as it was re-â She was cut short by his soothing voice, âGive me five minutes and Iâl be off of work. Iâd love to take a look at it.â This shocked her. She just blushed and nodded giving him the okay to return back to the counter to do his job. One more customer came in and got something before his shift was over. She continued scribbling corrections into the margins on the pages hoping that would make it better.Â
The young man came back over without his apron showing off his Beatles t-shirt, ripped black jeans, and worn and frayed flannel. âHi,â he spoke seeing she had taken off her sweater to let it dry and revealed her Led Zeppelin t-shirt and mom jeans. âHi,â she said with a smile and motioned for him to sit in the seat across from her. her delicate hand slid over the pages that held scribbled words and typed ones. âSo, your name is Felicity Marra?â he asked flipping through the first few pages and seeing your name. âItâs actually Evans not Marra, Marra is my middle name I use it as my writing name.â she said taking a sip of her tea. âI feel like I know you. Anyways, my name is Draco Gardner.â He said she shook his hand. As they both let go a look of surprise graced their smiling faces. HE began to scan the pages in awe. âyouâre brilliant.â She just shook her head and said no but he wouldnât let her believe she wasnât brilliant. âyou absolutely are brilliant Felicity Evans. And I want to show you how brilliant you are.âÂ
âgood luck with that Gardener.â she said placing her hands on the table. âIâll take the challenge Evans. Stay here.â he scrambled up and quickly came back with a windbreaker and handed it to Felicity. âno, you should take this I have my sweater.â but he refused and she gave in slipping it on and being enfluged in his sent and it was swallowing up her body. Draco grabbed her small hand in his large war one as she stuffed her book back into her bag and placed her sweater in there too. âI am going to show you how I see this city.â He dragged her back into the rain that was pouring on the New York streets. It was about seven in the evening now as he dragged the petite girl beside him to a small bridge in a park just a few blocks over from the shop.Â
âI used to see colors as a kid, one day I slowly lost my ability to see color. My parents told be it was because I had forgotten my soul mate. Apparently I knew them as a child. My mother said she moved away to Vermont in the sixth grade and we were unable to keep in touch.â He looked down at the girl beside him as she looked into the pond with the lights of the city reflecting into it. â I lost my color in seventh grade, after moving to Vermont in sixth grade to my aunts.â She said. âCan I try something?â she asked and Draco just shrugged waiting for her to do hat she wanted to try.She raised herself on her tippy toes and tilted her head back and reached to pull his head down to hers. She gently placed her lips on his awaiting a response from him. She quickly got one as he began to move his lips signaling her to move hers also. They lost themselves in each others touch. Draco placed his hands on her waist and tugged he closer, she laced her fingers in his unruly hair and tried to pull him down to her and bring them as close to one another as possible. It seem as though when they closed their eyes colors exploded. colors they had not seen since a young age it was exhilarating. When they pulled apart for air they stayed in that position, hands on her waist, hands in his hear, foreheads pressed together and breathing heavily. For the first time in a long time they could see the world as they did when they were kids.  Color enveloped them and made their vision vibrant. âYou?â he breathed out in question. âYou.â she chuckled out in an answer. âUs.â they spoke together, and just pulled each other together into a hug. The sleeves of his jacket she was wearing covered her hands making his heart melt at how small she looked in his clothing. Images of their childhood shenanigans played in their heads like a home movie. âI missed you.â she whispered into his chest. âI missed you too, Felicity.â The rain had stopped and they still head onto each others soaked bodies as if their embrace was the only thing from keeping the world from ending.Â
