I think it's an awesome photo of awesome people. In July 1975 was the first joint U.S.– Soviet space Apollo–Soyuz flight. Its primary purpose was to mark the end of the Space Race between two superpowers that began in 1957. Apollo (US) and Soyuz (USSR) met in space and connected eachother. On the photo: Thomas Stafford, (standing on left), commander of the American crew; cosmonaut Aleksey Leonov (standing on right), commander of the Soviet crew; astronaut Donald Slayton (seated on left), docking module pilot of the American crew; astronaut Vance Brand (seated center), command module pilot of the American crew; and cosmonaut Valeriy Kubasov (seated on right), engineer on the Soviet crew.
