I referenced it yesterday, my OC Iku went through a BIG transformation. It's also a little funny to see how she became more black over time.
This is her very first design, with every intention of her being a Hazbin OC. I wanted her to fill an assisstant type roll at VoxTek. I thought the differing color pallette worked well, but in retrospect, she didn't fit in at all. She's also very much white at this point.
This is her second design, kinda. I wanted to try out the hazbin style and realised parts of her design just didn't work that well. I was also (still am) in my hyper feminine era.
This is also when I started considering her as black. Because, if I went to hell and i was stripped of my mellanin, I'd be suffering too.
Around here I stopped shipping her with Vox (idk what got into me) and pivoted to Verosika and a little bit of Velvette and Lucifer. I do think she looks best with Verosika tho.
I got slightly better at the style and changed her outit again. I also couldn't decide between making her a brunette or keeping her blonde. She lost the shoes, because I couldn't figure them out anyway.
This is where the rough drafts of her human design started, none of them survived, but she was a very white looking mixed woman (not proud of that one).
This was her latest desigh up until yesterday, altough she did lose the second set of ears. I made her around the time that I experimented with living my own culture (I'm mixed black and white, but grew up predominantly white). Her nose became wider, the brown fur and the obviously two-toned lips and natural hair texture. I based her colors more off of the Vees, while keeping her pink/purple.
Elora also started as her initial human design here.
This was where her human design differed too far from Elora's initial design. Since I liked this one better, Elora went into WIP-purgatory (she made it out, don't worry).
At this point she's still mainly shipped with Verosika, while existing in a Hazbin not Helluva concept. Sometimes I do still give in and ship her with Lucifer. But Velvette and her are over. I also only drew like one pic and I hated it.
I do still like this design, not that fuckass jacket, but the rest is fine. I'll probably keep this one as her Hellaverse design.
Her final design is now removed from Hazbin, her being her standalone character now. She evolved a lot with my own cultural expression. I stopped hiding my natural hair and instead learned to braid it.
Iku is suppsoed to be wearing some older locs, but that kind of got lost in the rendering. I do love this outcome a lot more than my initial intent.
I do want to change her hair up a lot in the different ways you can braid/style afro hair. I'm currently in the process of learning how to do that lol
Her new outfit is also loosely, VERY loosely, based off of my own style. Lots of jewlery and loose clothing > bodycon.
Looking back I realise just how much my art has evolved as well. It's not often I'm proud of how far I've come, but this is one of the times.
Also, since Iku is now her own character, I'm unsure if I should give her a human design or to just keep the former one exclusive to Hazbin. Elora is fully removed from her and I'll keept it that way too.
