doing some colored pencil drawing for the first time in a while (usually do digital) (laptop and art program borked rn) and i have to say. i am fiercely missing the "undo" tool.

Supposedly, I'm doing my art history class with my sister-in-law's mom this year, so would people be interested in hearing about more art history stuff here/on substack as I'm teaching??

there's a set of "intro" classes that get you familiar with art concepts, and then a block of medieval to contemporary art where you study the paintings, do an art project, watch a movie, etc.

decided to do a quick little speedpaint of a ref photo just so i can say i finished a piece of art this week. in hindsight i'm not sure why i thought a fullbody with a full background would be quick or little. i fear that this will not be a speedpaint but a slowpaint actually.

So there’s this artist, Alex Schaefer, who makes a bunch of paintings of Chase Bank burning.

and I think it’s incredibly funny but

I just read this bit from the artist and

This is a "plein air" painting which means I set up my easel right across the street of this Chase bank in my city and painted it like it had caught fire. The police questioned me on the spot. Three weeks later Homeland Security was knocking on the door to my home. The question they kept asking me was "Do you hate these banks?" I can honestly say yes.

And I just think this is the greatest artist statement I’ve ever read.
