My mom and brother laughed at me when they discovered I was learning how to knit. I figured, if I can make my own beanie/newsboy hat, I don’t have to buy it abroad anymore. I’m cutting down my expenses. Yarn is so much cheaper than the cost of shipping.
Finally saw this up close. #Cebu (at Magellan's Cross, Basilica De Sto. Niño)

Bullet Dumas is one of the few artists you have to see live in order to understand the fuss surrounding his music. I became a fan when I heard him play 'Ninuno' on the very first Meet the Campers Jam Night. He is very different from what you normally hear or see on the mainstream market.
His music is kind of hard to define. I don't even know what genre he is supposed to be part of. All I know is that his brand of music is unique, unlike any other, and purely ORIGINAL.
I believe he will go places with the kind of brand he created for himself.
If you haven't seen him live, you should. He usually have a show called '3D' monthly with other notable musicians such as Ebe Dancel and Johnoy Danao.

This song is just amazing. My most favourite track out of all the songs from Kate Torralba’s Long Overdue Album. Drunk On Your Love is a love song that speaks of how one can do anything for the sake of love.
The melody is really infectious and the piano playing heartfelt.
The beauty of this song, for me, is that despite the cheesy subject matter, it doesn’t sound like it is. I am also amazed by the fact that this song is constructed in a way that it sounds kind of melancholic when in reality, it is a happy song.
Drunk on your love is a song that will make you want to feel drunk on somebody’s love.

I know I should be studying for the midterms but I had to try out first the Akai APC key 25. Great product IMO. Very light, perfect for travelling. (Pang ahensiya hits. 😜) Compatible with Ableton Live 9.1.3 and above. (Does not work well with FL Studio) Not bad for a small midi controller. Got this from jb music for half the price thanks to their himig lakas sale. I still prefer the Novation though but in terms of portability, the APC is the most practical choice. 🎹 #review #apc25key
I was feeling kind of nostalgic today so I dug up this band’s first album and played it on my car on my way to law school. I was jamming out to Second Midnight when it dawned on me that i’ve worked on their first album FOUR FREAKIN’ YEARS AGO. So yeah, I’m old.
Because of this, I had to check whether they have a new single out or not. Thankfully, they got one and it sounds great! It’s different from their previous work but I’m glad that at least the synths are still present.
I have to comment though that this track must’ve been produced by Rico Blanco because I can hear him all over the place. From the drum machine intro up to the “prolonged high note” part. I know it’s HIM. Being produced heavily by such an accomplished artist may take a toll on the band either in a good way or in a not so positive way.
I’m not saying it’s a bad thing. Rico Blanco has a great track record when it comes to producing stuff (Hello! Who can EVER forget Sugarfree’s Sa Wakas?) My only fear here is that the diehard Rico Blanco fans out there may not be so forgiving when they hear the similarities. I just hope the band won’t receive any backlash from it. The internet is a very unforgiving place when it comes to things like this. They might say they’re copying sh*t’ and then comment harshly because netizens LOVE to complain without sufficient data and (legal) basis. :p
Lyrically though, it’s a vast improvement from their previous album. I am assuming this was written by Ace Libre (the vocalist) since he’s always been the one doing all the songwriting for this band ever since. Like what I always say, I love songs written in Tagalog. I love it even more when it’s good.
Kahit iba ang bagsak ng ating mga paa, sasabayan pa rin kita. Di bale nang mapatid at tayo’y tumagilid, sasabayan pa rin kita.
The lyrics are pretty simple and easy to understand so I don’t need to make an in depth analysis line per line. The chorus is pretty spot on. There’s no better imagery of being out of sync with someone than comparing it through their footsteps. That’s really clever IMO.
My personal favorite parts of the song?
1. JP’s guitar intro after the first chorus.
2. the prolonged “sayo” part
3. The humming part before the second chorus
4. The ending piano part and that last guitar note
Well, all in all, I love the new song. Ace’s voice sounds better than ever. I think it’s the way he delivered the verses or his voice got stronger somehow? or he has better endurance now that he can hold a note that long? I dunno. I may have to look into that when I watch them live one of these days.
So yeah, if you’d like to hear something different from what you usually hear on the radio, here’s the music video of Never the Strangers - Sabay.
Bakit kailangan paghirapan ang iyong pahintulot kung lahat ay inalay sayo? Simple lang ang nais ko.
Liz (Song: Lingon)
This is what I’m saying. There are still AWESOME Filipino artists to look forward to. You only need to cast a wider net and stop complaining about the music you hear on TV/Radio. Look for the songs that cater to your individual taste on your own pace and you’ll get to find gems like this song right here.
This, for me, is a heavyweight collaboration. Both strong solo artists in their own right, Quest and Julianne both delivered such a powerful anthemic song that touches a very sensitive topic -- depression.
Writing an uplifting song is hard. It’s never easy to marry the idea of it not being too preachy or too heavy for the audience. In Julianne and Quest’s collaborative effort, they did manage to merge both in a great way.
Lyrically, this song is full of imagery. I love that they called it Digmaan (War) and that they used the words, sandata (weapon) and bala (bullet) -- things normally used in wars -- as metaphors and adding Puso (heart) and Pag-ibig (love) to make it positive. Hence,
Puso ang sandata, Pag-ibig ang bala, Ikaw ang aking Tagumpay.
(Heart is the weapon, Love is the bullet, and you are my Victory.
I mean, that’s just one side of it. The arrangement of this song is also very interesting because towards the end, I heard elements of dubsteps. Yeah. There’s some kind of a bass drop somewhere in this song.
As per usual, Julianne’s vocal prowess and Quest’s rapping skills are superb. They are a perfect match. The blending towards the end of the song (the humming part) gave me goosebumps. I hope they get the airplay they deserve.
I am so looking forward to their future collaboration. This song is GOLD. I rarely give reviews nowadays because of my busy school schedule but hearing this song today made me post one.
Listen and share the song. You might pick up something new.

Dicta License is one of the bands I looked up to back in highschool. I love their first and only album because it's filled with our country's political and social issues. I got really upset when I heard the band broke up. Turns out the vocalist, Pochoy, studied law in Ateneo and is now a lawyer. As a law student myself, this gives me a little bit of courage and motivation.
Dicta License! 🙌👊 (at B - SIDE)
