So let’s start at the beginning:
The plane I took here was my first plane ride ever. I was super nervous, but not because i thought the plane would crash or anything. I actually kinda like the thought of hurtling through the clouds with nothing but Bernoulli’s principle to keep you from plummeting to the ground.
The nerve-wracking bit was the trying to find the correct place to be, because, of course it would be that my first flight was a flight all by myself :/ I had my parents to get me through getting my boarding pass, checking my luggage, and finding the right terminal, but the moment i left them to go through security was a little bit heart wrenching.
But i managed to survive that craziness, and boarded the plane. I was so excited because I got a window seat. Let me tell you, the stars above the clouds out over the ocean are insane. I just kept staring out the window and grinning and giggling because it was just so BEAUTIFUL! I think all the people around me probably thought i was insane. And interrupting their sleep. That’s one thing i didn’t like. It’s really cold and almost impossible to sleep on the plane.
But then the sun came up. How can so many beautiful things happen in succession? I feel spoiled. The sunrise over the clouds took my breath away. It had so many streaks of reds and oranges and dandelions, and the different perspective of being so high up gave it just a little bit of unearthliness, that made it seem super special. I felt like i was in a sci-fi movie.
But that’s not it. Because the most beautiful of all was when we reached Austria (which happened just around the time of the sunrise). Oh dear. The clouds were a full thick blanket, but the Alps were so tall they reached above the clouds. It looked to me like the clouds were glaciers that the plane was skimming along and the tops of the Alps were mountains in their own right. It took my breath away. That was my first little experience of the grandeur of Europe. I think it did it justice for the wonders to come.
