TV Tropes: Cliff

A somewhat careworn young man who starts off slumming it at the church. He wanders aimlessly around, looking for something to do. He's very quiet, and reacts strongly to kindness. In your first year, you get the opportunity to offer "someone" a job. If you give it to him, he'll stay and become a winery-worker, with Manna and Duke becoming his surrogate family. His love interest is Ann.

Desperately Looking for a Purpose in Life: He doesn't have a permanent job or home in Mineral Town, and is seeking for a place where he could settle down.

Lost Forever: If you don't offer him the job at the winery, he will move out from Mineral Town, removing him from being an eligible bachelor.

Not only that, but even if you do, his and Ann's Blue Heart Event is Lost Forever if you don't trigger it before that point. And given that said event has even more specific criteria than others, there's a good chance you'll miss it without a guide.

Shrinking Violet: He's an extremely shy guy and awkwardly stutters when he's first talked to.

Troubled, but Cute: Sure he has a lot of problems to work out, but he also has long hair and wears shirts that show off his muscles.

Loyal Animal Companion: Cain, his bird of prey. He's mentioned frequently but only appears in a few scenes.

Walking the Earth: Cliff's preferred lifestyle.

As Chelsea arrived, she grinned at the two of them fondly, attempting to hold out a hand to the newcomer, although she had to dart it this way and that a few times, trying to get around the wriggling border collie. “He is a good boy. I’m just glad you aren’t the type to get freaked out by him. He’s just really friendly. I’m Chelsea, by the way. And this is Comrade.” she gave the dog a hearty pat on the side as he finally released his grip on Cliff and instead sat in front of him, looking up at him with big brown eyes filled with curiosity. “Clearly he likes you.” she observed, sounding quite amused as her eyes moved from the dog to the young man in front of her. “Your name’s Cliff, right? Welcome.”

>Once Comrade had allowed it, Cliff took her offered hand, finding a strange sort of comfort in the callouses there as he gave a gentle, but grateful shake.

» Claire had never heard Cliff’s voice before since the first and last time she ever met him, he was unconscious. Admittedly, she was scared at first but the feeling mellowed out once she caught sight of the man’s bangs. Her body was leaning over the side of the couch to get a better look at him for the moment.

“Hey there, Cliff! C’mon inside… Have a seat at the table or wherever you want, sorry the place isn’t all that fancy.”

» The blonde let out a nervous giggle before pushing herself into an upright position, she really felt uncomfortable being caught lying about like a zombie so she did her best to look more alive. Once she was settled, she pocketed her phone and gave Cliff a wave as he stepped inside.

>The hand which shyly returned her wave was soon after self-consciously stuffed into a pocket, its owner acutely aware of the grime it had gathered on the road there now inside the other’s home. Politely declining her offer to sit with a sheepish dip of his head, preferring to linger in the foyer so as to avoid dirtying any furniture, Cliff fought to find his words while in her presence.

“It’s nice... to meet you.”

[PM]: Of course, it’s a bit of a walk from Mineral Town but past Jill and Claire’s farm, if you keep going straight all the way to the end you’ll turn right and the villa is right down that road. You can’t miss it, there’s a fountain in front and a big gate as well as several garden boxes. [PM]: Once you get to the front door, feel free to walk in. [PM]: We have two cats and they’re very friendly, but be careful because they’ll run out the door if you’re not watching!
