( MATTHEW DADDARIO. HE/HIM. CISMALE ) Did I just see ( LLEWELLYN REED )? This ( THIRTY ) year old ( HOCKEY PLAYER ) has been living in Chicago for ( SEVEN YEARS ). Some say that they are ( HARD-WORKING + HONEST ) as well as ( ANTI-SOCIAL + GRUMPY ). If they had a theme song, some might say that it would be ( RIBS BY LORDE ). All I know is that I can’t wait to see what they bring to the Windy City. @hocstarters

Llewellyn grew up in Long Island, New York. His parents were both ice skaters-- one a figure skater and the other a hockey player. The two of his parents were never professionals per se but still kept up with their respective sports. This is where his love of the ice came in. When he was younger, he leaned towards figure skating. However, because of his sudden growth spurt, he decided to switch sports and pursue hockey instead. He had an excellent work ethic— he loved the sport and he enjoyed doing it. He was disciplined and he never strained from it, even after he started playing in Juniors. However, the pressure from his parents to do well and go professional was quite high and his anxiety just worsened because of it.
Lyn was on his way to become one of the youngest people to get drafted to the NHL when he ended up overdosing on his own anxiety medication a few weeks before the draft. This effectively killed his shot at playing for the NHL because most of the news outlets showed him overdosing on illegal substances instead. No team wants to handle that and so he decide to pursue further studies instead.
He decided to go to Princeton for his undergraduate degree in history where he played for their ice hockey team. He loved studying in Princeton and was planning on taking his masters when he had gotten a call from the The Islanders in New York, offering him a spot in their team. While he was happy to take on another path with history, Llewellyn also knew that he would be happier playing hockey. So instead of signing at 17 years old, he graduated from Princeton and then signed into the NHL at 21 years old. He was first signed to the Islanders in New York for three years and then was traded to the Blackhawks and has been in Chicago for the past seven years.
Llewellyn has always had problems with relationships-- he prefer to sleep around rather than having serious relationships especially with men because he doesn’t want to be outed at all. He’s had relationships here and there but they never really last long. Lyn has had boyfriends but he was never affectionate with them when it came to being in public either. There was a boy he met when he was 24 who managed to change this, even for a short moment. He and Lyn were in a relationship for a year, enough to get him to start thinking about coming out. However, an incident during one of his games changed it because players started to attack another player who had rumours that he was gay. It was all planned already, Llewellyn would come out soon but he changed his mind and didn’t. This had caused a strain with their relationship and it didn’t take long before they broke up. It is the reason why Llewellyn doesn’t want to be in a committed relationship again.
Additional Facts
Llewellyn still keeps up with his figure skating training! Although he barely manages to do so just because of his bulk and the hockey altogether.
He loves history-- he will literally take any opportunity to talk someone’s ear off about it.
Lyn knows how to play the guitar, he would love to be in a band during his time off or when it’s hockey off-season.
He still takes anxiety medication and he handles it much better but there are days where his anxiety gets the better of him.
