Walsall New Art Gallery - Chris Clinton. Great show.
These patterned disks used to be dartboards; "elements of the original printed image are lost during the recoiling process to reveal colourful concentric circles and geometric patterns while new bumps and imperfections emerge across the dartboard surface"
Condition checking the Geoffrey Farmer work from the recent exhibition at Nottingham Contemporary.
Contemporary art frequently challenges our concept of value. These low fi (in some cases decrepit) materials were totally magical in his sculpture play and in the bright lights of the gallery during its change-over today all I could see was putty, masking tape, untreated MDF, paper and staples.
It was pretty weird wrapping an old bit of wood and a broken lamp in bubble wrap using latex gloves…
Even when it's over, Geoffrey's still asking the important questions.
