The LNER is already faster than flying between Edinburgh and London (including airport time and travel to central at both ends). The train also saves 169kg of carbon emissions compared to flying. It’s time to put minimum pricing on domestic flights. It should never be cheaper to release an additional 169kg of carbon emissions when the train is literally right there… choo choo
Why would you fly between Edinburgh and London when you could take the Azuma?
literally this
Slow train journeys in rural England sure are an experience. You're going ten miles and it takes a day and a half because it stops at every lamp-post and the announcement says "The next station stop is Ferretley" or something and you think "I didn't know that was a place" and you get there and it isn't
Express trains through rural England are also an experience, because it's like: COW GO ZOOM!
"We are now in Newcastle"
I think you went past that cow backwards
MOOZ
Mass public transit is the future.
I used to aspire to be lumo-official but after my recent experience this is now a lumo hate account
Mark my words: lumo are the new Netflix/Airbnb/Easyjet… they were cheaper when they first started. They have already introduced luggage limits. Soon they will start charging for essential add ons… just wait and you’ll see… you’ll all see!
Just to say, I posted this mere minutes before a dog attacked the ticket inspector. Lumo passengers, get your shit together!

Not just any train, the Azuma
Nationalise the railways NOW

When public services are affordable and convenient, people will always choose those resources. They are not supposed to be a capitalistic profit-seeking initiative, they are developed for the benefit of the people, for a better life, just as government resources should be used. (tweet)

Girls, we need you to start infodumping about trains to everyone who will listen. We need to prove that the stereotype about trains being for autistic white boys is wrong. Trains are for all autistic people.
We at lner-official support the ASLEF strike.
Let me tell you more about our simplified ticketing.
Previously, one could purchase a super-off peak return. One could book a seat on each train one intended to take. However, if one missed their train on the outbound journey they could take ANY OTHER super-off peak service that day. Granted, their seat would not be reserved but we do have unreserved seating in coach C for anyone who finds themselves on this pickle.
And say our passenger is having a lovely time on their trip, well the good news is their return would have been valid for any super-off peak service within 28 days of their initial departure, not only the train their seat reservation was booked on. Marvellous, right? Flexible? Indeed.
Now under the name of “simplification” and “flexibility” we are scrapping this system to replace it with:
No super-off peak options that used to allow cheaper travel for people who can be flexible with the time of day they travel and are on a budget
You can no longer catch any other train in the day. You can only catch trains 70 minutes before or after your booked train.
The 28 day open return will become a relic of my halcyon youth.
The greatest thing about solo train travel will become rarer (the person in the seat next to you not turning up because they had so many other flexible options)
Mourn with me, the next nail in our railways’ coffin…
We have introduced simpler fares.
They are also more expensive.
Demand nationalisation at the next election.
