Catra: Adora, I’m still so sorry for what I did on Prime’s ship. If I had somehow been able to defy the chip with the power of love and help you, I would have.

Got a little (re)obsessed with Mononoke when they released the films
Print I made for a con and you better believe I've got another one coming haha
popular pastime in juuyoku: shogi
this is their dynamic you can't convince me otherwise
i was listening to this one youtube video essay about mononoke and then one of the comments made me realize something.
mononoke (2007) in itself is so viscerally, utterly, irrevocably feminine.
starting from the mother and baby/pregnancy story, to the story of ouyo/grooming and being taken advantage of those who are in higher position of power than you, to ochou and the pressure society has on women from their fucking childhood, to the incense story — which despite the mononoke being a sentient wood, it still chose to have a ‘cover up’ form of a beautiful woman — where beauty was all women were seen as in the eyes of society. a tender flesh to be taken, to bakaneko — the story of a woman in a white collar workplace, constantly being undermined and ridiculed and backstabbed just because she was a woman.
even the medicine seller, the main character, is feminine in every way except for his voice. he is beautiful, divine and ethereal, wears makeup and accessories and even wears women’s kimono with the bright popping colors and thick obi sash.
idk, i just think it’s wonderful
