i feel with the entire situation of dandys world + qwel being problematic and everything has tainted how people think about those who choose to still play with knowledge of the controversy

people think it's a sort of black-and-white kind of thing where if you don't play, youre a saint. and if you do play, youre a horrible person and you don't care about the victims. but that in itself is absolutely untrue— playing dandys world doesnt "support" qwelver in any way other than hypothetically financially. and im 90% sure it doesnt even do that unless you actively spend money on the game/have in the last month or so. correct me if im wrong

but anyhow, youre not a saint if you don't play dandys world anymore and harass those who do. the victims asked for nobody to harass people for continuing to play the game, and by going against those wishes, youre likely more against the victims than if you were to play the game. + youre not horrible if you do play dandys world, because it's arbitrary if it actually gives her a sliver of money or not, and you don't condone the things she's done. also, for those who harass people that play dandys world, they could easily be young??? or not active enough on social media to be aware?? it's unnecessary

but anyhow, youre not a saint if you don't play dandys world anymore and harass those who do. the victims asked for nobody to harass people for continuing to play the game, and by going against those wishes, youre likely more against the victims than if you were to play the game. + youre not horrible if you do play dandys world, because it's arbitrary if it actually gives her a sliver of money or not, and you don't condone the things she's done. also, for those who harass people that play dandys world, they could easily be young??? or not active enough on social media to be aware?? it's unnecessary

just because people choose to still play the game doesn't mean they're untrustworthy, you can't expect a whole group of THOUSANDS of people to give up an interest they have because a part of the staff or its creator is a bad person. if you truly expect that then I sure do hope you're checking every band and every game that you like to make sure that nothing weird has happened before because it's a LOT more common than you'd expect even if it isn't directly public info.

also for a lot of people it's not easy to drop a game they like that quickly or at all, even. especially if they're hyper focused on it or have a special interest in it. adding to player count is nothing if it isn't directly giving her money, that's like saying listening to a reupload of a song from some rando online by a band with similar controversies is "still supporting the artist"

just because some people are able to separate the content from the creator doesn't make them untrustworthy or mean that they're ignoring the reasons to stop playing.

people are complex and you can't expect everyone to follow the same idea just as you CANNOT expect everyone to leave the game behind after it's built such a large fandom and a bunch of people are and always have been extremely interested in it. it's not like it's a small game with a few casual players, it will never work like that.

But I do play the game sometimes. But I only do that because I know it’s not giving her money.

Usually this happens on Pintrist and stuff, but in the comments there are like 11 year olds who still play the game and then the replies are all really mean and like “well keep doing that if you want to give money to a terrible person.” Or calling people who play the game terrible people. And it’s really weird.

If they were educated properly about the topic then they wouldn’t be saying that, or they don’t believe their point is strong enough and they have to lie to get any reaction.

I’m not saying you should play the game, all I’m saying is that if you do decide to play the game you aren’t actually giving money to Qwel.

Even though Dandy’s World still comes into recommendations (as every Roblox game does), it’s not in the top plays anymore. It’s not even necessarily from when everyone stopped playing because of the situation. There are just more popular games now.

While playing technically it helps, so does just being active in the fandom. It’s the same thing. Drawing attention to it is drawing attention to it.

It’s just really weird to guilt people for playing the game.

And the goal should be “play the game less” and not necessarily stop all together. You are never going to fully stop new people from finding the game, and if they spend money on it unaware of what is happening, it’s not necessarily their fault, but we want to educate them.

This next statement isn’t an excuse for spending money/changing anything yet, but Qwel, at the moment stepped down. There is hope that maybe she is gone. This isn’t set in stone at the moment, as she could very easily come back, but it’s getting better. And there is a way that the game and community could become better.

the goal quite literally is "stop playing all together" because thats how you boycott something? also yeah id say something about people drawing dandys world n stuff but everyone gets defensive so i dont even try to bring up the fact that people shouldn't be PUBLICLY posting dandys fanart

Also by not playing as much and playing alt games you are bringing the player count down? A total boycott was necessary before I believe, but now that Qwel stepped down and things are seemed to calm down a bit you can start to come back a little bit? The point of the boycott was to get a reaction… and we got it.
