Gareth didn't know what to do after Eddie's death. He decided self harm was the only option.
Andy knows how it feels a little too personally.
You Go Down Just Like Holy Mary (chapter 1)
Gareth woke up during the "earthquake". He and 3 other Hellfire members ran to safety and were later found by Steve and 5 other people. Gareth along with the other victims in Hawkins were taken to the High School and given food, shelter, medical attention and ended up giving some blood as well.
It wasn't until he was looking around the missing person board and Wayne walked away that he saw Eddie's. At first he panicked, but realized he was probably still hiding and was okay.
2 days later Dustin, Mike, Lucas, and a few other people walked in. Dustin was limping and walked over to Wayne.
He listened to the conversation. He wished he didn't. Once he had seen Dustin give the necklace to the uncle, he broke. He ran outside to cry. He ended up running into some of the basketball team and watched as they asked people if they had seen Jason.
Gareth saw Andy in that crowd.
Andy intrigued Gareth in a way he couldn't explain. He didn't know why he never took off his shorts in the locker room until everyone left, or why he was always wearing sweatbands. It was interesting to him, and he just couldn't put his finger on it.
But that wasn't important. What was important was that Gareth just lost the man that was a brother to him, thick and through. He lost not just his Dungeon Master, but his best friend.
Gareth sat in the grass for a little until he saw Mike walk with... a girl, a boy, and two other men? Gareth yelled out Mike's name, and Mike's head whipped around to him. He smiled, grabbed the girls hand and ran over to him. Gareth and him engulfed eachother in a hug, while the girl just stood there.
"You don't know how happy I am to see you. Gareth, this is El. My girlfriend."
Mike stood there, with a dumb grin.
"Mike. Eddie's gone."
"...What?"
"He went missing, at least we thought, and during the earthquake, he-h-he died."
The group stayed quiet till the boy behind Mike piped up.
"Who's Eddie? And who are you?"
"Eddie was our dungeon master." Gareth responded.
"So uhm... you joined another party."
"Will, I am so sorry-"
"Don't be. Our party wasn't good enough. I guess the rest of you guys were in it too? Was it because of me?"
Mike stood still, looking at Will.
"Sorry. I think I should go." Gareth says a little quiet. Thankfully no one follows him.
At least, he thought.
OKAY SO THIS IS CHAPTER ONE! we get to see how Will reacts to another party and all the good stuff. MORE ANGST NEXT CHAPTER. also today's my birthday, woop woop! (very, very bad chapter ikikik but if you enjoyed it pls let me know!)
