Ancient Mesopotamian Recipes 

Some of the oldest culinary recipes in the world come from some tablets housed in the Yale Babylonian Collection; three date to the Old Babylonian period circa 1730 B.C. while fourth comes from the Neo-Babylonian period about a thousand years later.  It is one part a menu, and other part poking fun at cooking and food preparation.

One recipe has been translated and adapted into a modern format so that you can try it yourself, it’s a type of stew.
